Rest in a balaclava in winter. Rest in a balaclava

Rest and fishing in the Crimea. Winter Balaclava.
Once again I sit down to write an essay, but the spicy aroma of the mullet I just smoked prevents me from concentrating again. But everything is in order ... I don’t know who initiated the fact that Crimea is only the country’s summer health resort and health improvement, it’s the sea, the sun, the beach ... Of course, it was timed to improve the health of children during summer holidays, but also adult men and their companions need rest, a change of scenery, new sensations. And why not get all this, not somewhere, far away, but here, in the fertile Crimea ....

Quiet, not crowded, crystal clear sea water and intoxicating air, no queues and fabulous prices…. And the weather allows even in January, in addition to traditional walks and ascents, to dive, effectively hunt for striped mullet, flounder and croaker, catch garfish, horse mackerel, bluefish, sea bass, mullet and crabs, and amateurs can collect mushrooms and at the same time spend wonderful photoshoots...

My favorite places and habitat: Koktebel, Sudak, Novyi Svet. In winter, the most fishy place in the Crimea is Balaklava. We go there with the men's team a couple of times a week, to relax, change the situation, show our skills and gear, and bring ten kilograms of fish home. Balaklava - "Fish Bag", is well known to many, so I will not retell its history, list the sights, I will say one thing, the coastal part of the city and the people living by the sea are very colorful ....

Departure at five in the morning, two hundred kilometers, talking about the weather and last fishing, they fly by unnoticed ... At eight, we already give up mooring lines and go out to sea ... Well, how to convey this feeling, the muffled roar of a two-stroke engine, the splash of a cut wave, an oncoming sea breeze, a cry seagulls ... We leave the fairway and look at the endless bay, bordered by Cape Aya, in which dozens of colorful boats.

Someone further out at sea, “self-deception” from a depth of 40-60 meters, horse mackerel, perch, haddock, bluefish, herring rarely comes across, but massive, it passed a few weeks ago. Our goal is a mullet, a large chularka, a serenade, they differ in size, small features of the structure and color, but they are all equally tasty. About fifty meters from the rocks, from which they also fish, we anchor, measure the bottom, set up tackle, bait a sea worm and bliss begins ...

You don’t have to wait for a bite for a long time, a sharp fraction, hooking, the tip of the rod in an arc, but the actively resisting serenade, raised from a depth of ten meters, still ends up in the cage ... We catch either just in a plumb line, reacting to the tip of the spinning - a nod, or to a junk tackle with a sliding float and a sinker of 30-40 grams. It is not rational to knit more than two hooks per bet. The ideal bait in all cases is the same - a sea worm, nereis, which is mined or bought at a price of 50 to 80 hryvnia per hundred.

This is just in time for a day of intense fishing. An hour later, knocking off the edge and realizing that the movements are becoming simply automatic, we take a break, hot tea, a sandwich, gourmets enjoy mulled wine, take a couple of photographs and again for emotions and fish ... , cormorants, and of course dolphins. And there are many of them here. Both white flanks and bottlenose dolphins behave in a businesslike manner, not paying attention to the boats, they hunt, arranging whole performances.

Their calm gracefulness is mesmerizing, and their snorts and sniffles are pleasant to the ear, as are the emotional exclamations of fishermen from neighboring boats or rocks. The day flies by unnoticed, as a result, all the containers intended for fish are full, after weighing it turned out to be 16 kilograms, new pleasant acquaintances, a sea of positive emotions, a tan on the face, and a couple of pictures for memory. Having gone ashore, and even having arrived home, you continue to feel the pitching, so whoever has a weak vestibular apparatus, come to us in Sudak, to catch garfish from the shore, and fishing from a boat is contraindicated ...

Useful information: We book the boat in advance, especially if the trip falls on the weekend, but even with a spontaneous arrival, no one will be left on the shore. The price of the boat for the whole day of fishing is 300 hryvnia. The bot is able to take on board up to eight people. Owners of boats, skiffs, boats, motor and sailing yachts. The latter have different prices, respectively ... Fish is caught both from a yacht and from a skiff in the same way, the tackle on board is from dive and shimano to simple domestic spinning rods with a “nevka”, does this greatly affect the catch? Probably not.

Tackle: spinning from 2.50 to 4 meters, test 20-60, the lighter the better. Inertialess reel, 2000, gear ratio 5:1, main rate - sea monofilament 0.10, lead line 0.18 -0.23, fluorocarbon. Equipment - a warm, breathable, waterproof suit, preferably separate. Same requirements for shoes. Glasses will protect your eyes from bright sun, but will leave a mark on the tanned face. Kitchen - on the advice of local taxi drivers, we dined at the cafe "Pogrebok", opposite the house of life.

Cozy, prices are indecently low, first courses from 6 to 15 hryvnias, the kitchen is homemade, solid, the cafe workers are friendly and sociable. Documents - be sure to have an identity document with you on board, for border guards. Fish - Well, what can you do with 16 kilograms of caught fish? Wither, smoke - I do it on a vine, turn into an iceberg - this is a quick freeze in water, etc. The mullet is very tasty both fried and in the ear.

And if you drive far, and the temperature is above zero in the car, sprinkle with salt, or use a car refrigerator or a thermal bag. This is only one recreational and educational event out of a dozen possible in winter in the Crimea. After resting, you can go on a night spearfishing near Megan or in the Novosvetsky bays, or you can master the technique of catching a predatory garfish ... And this, all side by side, in our Crimea, and not far away.

Quote message Balaklava is one of the most interesting places Crimea

- a city in the southwestern part of the Crimea. Balaklava is located 15 km south of Sevastopol and is the center of the Balaklava region. The population of Balaklava is about 20 thousand people.

- a small sleepy town on the Crimean peninsula, sheltered on the outskirts of Sevastopol, which is definitely worth it to spend a couple of hours, or even days. And all thanks to the eventful history of this place, which was once a Genoese fortress with a charming view of the Black Sea. The tart taste of old times is found here at every turn: near the ruins of the fortress, which the Genoese once used as an important trading port, until the Ottoman Empire took them under its "sensitive guardianship" in 1475. In the marina, which still remembers British ships laid up in 1850 until the Crimean War.

Today, Balaklava is a pretty resort, popular among tourists in the summer, as there are many picturesque beaches in its area, which can be reached by boat.
The name of the city has two versions of origin: from Turkish "fish bag", and from the Crimean Tatar - "fish weather". In addition, a hat-helmet is called a “balaclava”, which are bought up en masse by tourists as a souvenir.

Decoration of the city located between high rocky mountains. It is connected to the sea by a narrow winding strait 1.5 km long, and since the rocky shore makes several turns at the entrance to the bay, the harbor is not noticeable at all from the open sea. Here, during the Crimean War, a beautiful embankment was built, which was originally called the English, and today - Embankment. Nazukin, in honor of the hero of the Civil War.

Another beautiful view of Balaklava Bay: boats, sea

Balaklava Bay - Crimean Saint-Tropez.
To understand why Balaklava Bay deserved such an honor, you need to count the number of yachts peacefully swaying on the water at the pier. There are never storms in a cozy bay near Sevastopol, so ships and yachts from all over the world moor here. For greater similarity with the Provencal port town, it is worth looking at Balaklava from the height of the Fortress Mountain, from where a breathtaking panorama opens. Well, and one more common point - Balaclava, like Saint-Tropez, was chosen by filmmakers, now its views flash in the films “Bay of the Lost Divers”, “Sappho”, “Masha and the Sea”, etc.

The shores of the Balaklava Bay have been inhabited since time immemorial. In the VIII-VI centuries BC. ferocious Tauri lived here, later ancient Greek settlements appeared. The Greeks named the bay Sumbolon Limen, which means "harbor of omens, symbols."

Homer in his "Odyssey" gives a description of the bay, surprisingly similar to Balaklava:

We entered the beautiful harbor there. She is surrounded

The rocks are steep on both sides with a continuous wall.

Near the entrance rise high against each other

Two capes run out, and the entrance to this harbor is narrow.

In this bay, Odysseus and his comrades were met by bloodthirsty listrigons. Many believe that this is the tribe of the Taurians, who lived here in ancient times. The Taurians settled in the mountains by the sea and were indeed a harsh people. The question of whether Homer could really write about Balaklava is still open in history.

The attack of the bloodthirsty Antiphates, the king of the Laestrigons, on the companions of Odysseus. Illustration for Homer's poem "Odysseus"

Balaclava has some great beaches. Beach "Vasili" is located in Vasilyevskaya beam, behind the mountain, it is 1.5 km by boat from the exit from Balaklava bay. "Vasili" is considered one of the the best beaches Balaklava and the entire Sevastopol region, there is a landscaped area, clear sea and wonderful views of

All material is taken from many different open sources on the Internet.

Until that moment, until I visited Balaklava, I thought that this is one of the most ordinary microdistricts of Sevastopol, with which this handsome city is surrounded on all sides. In fact, this is how it is administratively, however, when you get to this fabulous place, you understand that it is a separate city with its own way of life and history.

Local residents, of course, consider themselves Sevastopol residents, but at the same time they are proud that their small town has its own legends and interesting places.

Balaklava is surrounded on all sides by historical sights. In addition, there are many picturesque beaches near it, which will be discussed below.

The tourist infrastructure is quite well developed here: there are comfortable hotels, cozy restaurants and cafes. I was especially impressed by the view of the embankment at night, when the multi-colored lights of numerous entertainment venues located on both sides of the Balaklava Bay in Sevastopol are reflected in the quiet surface of the water.

How to get there

Balaklava is included in the administrative region of Sevastopol and is located at a distance of 15 kilometers from it in a southwestern direction. To get to the city from Sevastopol, I can recommend both public and private vehicles. You need to go along the South Coast highway H-19 in the direction of Yalta.

In addition, in summer period you can swim here on pleasure boats that depart from Yalta.

From other Russian cities, Balaklava can only be reached directly by car. In this case, you should cross the ferry crossing and then move from Kerch along the R-29 highway in the direction of Sevastopol. In all other cases, you will have to get to Balaklava with transfers.

By plane

The easiest way to get to Balaklava from mainland Russia is by plane.

Currently, there is one airport in Crimea, which is located in Simferopol. Flights here are only Russian airlines:

  • "Aeroflot";
  • "Russia";
  • "Siberia S7";
  • "Ural Airlines";
  • Vim Airlines.

The cost of air communication with major cities of the Russian Federation is constantly changing and largely depends on the season. So, on average, a flight from Moscow will cost from 3,000 rubles, from St. Petersburg about 4,000 rubles. You can see how much tickets cost for the dates you are interested in in the Trevelask section.

How to get to Balaklava from Simferopol airport

The cost of moving from the airport to Balaklava should be added to the plane ticket.

The total distance is about 95 kilometers, and on average taxi drivers take from 1,500 rubles. I got from the airport by bus, which departs directly from the airport complex. The ticket price in this case is 130 rubles, and the travel time is about two hours.

In Sevastopol, you should transfer to trolleybus No. 2, 17, 20 or fixed-route taxi No. 120, 17 and get to final stop"5 kilometer". From there, bus number 9 runs every 5 minutes, which will take you to the very center of Balaklava.

By train

Currently, getting to Balaklava by train is very problematic. The nearest station from the city is located in Sevastopol, however, due to difficult relations with Ukraine, passenger traffic in Crimea was practically stopped. railway communication except for local trains.

The most expensive and comfortable hotels are located right on the waterfront, however, the cost of living in them is not affordable for everyone.

Cheaper private hotels operate in the city center along Novikova Street. Finally, a budget option would be to settle in the private sector.

You can book hotels on Booking -, and you can check if there is a better price anywhere.

The balaclava is quite small in area. You can walk from one end of the city to the other in just twenty minutes. When choosing housing, you should first of all focus on your financial capabilities, since all local beaches and attractions are within walking distance, no matter where you stay.

What are the prices for holidays

By Crimean standards, rest in Balaklava is quite expensive, from the cost of renting housing to food. The cost of living in private boarding houses depends on the season and the quality of the service provided by the hotel. So a standard room for one person with a sea view in a comfortable hotel on the embankment with air conditioning, internet and a bathroom will cost 2000 in June, 2200 in July, 2300 in August 2300 rubles per day.

You can find a more economical option in the city center, where housing with everything you need will cost 1,500 rubles in June, and 2,000 rubles per person per day in July and August.

Package tours to Balaklava, which include transport and accommodation in hotels with different types of food, can be viewed at.

The cheapest accommodation is offered in the private sector. Here you can rent a small house, consisting of several rooms, for an average of 2,500 rubles, or rent a bed, which will cost 500 rubles per day.

As a rule, meals are not included in the price. Dine in numerous cafes on the city's waterfront will cost about 600 rubles per person.

As an alternative, you can choose meals in the canteen, in which case the check will be at least twice cheaper. Personally, I would advise renting a cabin with a kitchen and cooking your own meals.

The main attraction of Balaklava is the submarine museum. The cost of visiting it for adults is 200 rubles, for children and students 100. You can make an exciting excursion along Balaklava on a small boat, which will cost you around 500 rubles per person.

Sights such as the Cembalo fortress and St. George's Monastery are open to the public free of charge.

It is worth noting that a taxi ride along Balaklava will cost about 50-100 rubles, and to get to Sevastopol, you will have to pay about 200 rubles.

Main attractions. What to watch

Of greatest interest is the Balaklava Bay, which, due to its sinuous shape and rocks located in a circle, is reliably protected from wind and storm.

If you look at it from the side of the city, then the exit to the sea is not visible, which creates the impression big lake. At one time, Balaklava Bay was a secret submarine base and had its own secrets and legends. Today this place is at the mercy of tourists, who are offered a large number of various entertainments. Near the numerous piers are yachts, boats and boats, you may even get the impression that you are not somewhere in the Crimea, but far away.

In addition to the bay in Balaklava itself and next to it, there are many interesting sights, and some of them are known far beyond the city:

  • the fortress of Chembalo;

  • object 825 GTS (museum-factory of submarines);

  • Church of the Holy Twelve Apostles;

  • St. George's Monastery;

  • Barrel of death.

Interest among tourists is also the famous Balaklava embankment Nazukina, as well as the monuments to Lesya Ukrainka and Alexander Kuprin located on it.

Since the city is mostly located in a mountainous area, I recommend wearing comfortable sports shoes for walks, in which you will feel comfortable.

Top 5

There are several places in Balaklava that are a must-see for every tourist. Having examined all the city sights, one can get a clear picture of how the Crimea as a whole developed over many centuries.

Chombalo Fortress

First of all, it is worth mentioning the famous Chombalo fortress.

It rises above the very entrance to the bay and is visible from almost every district of the city. Its walls were erected in the 14th century by the Genoese and have withstood more than one siege throughout their history. Today, the ruins of the once powerful defensive structure are open to the public for free.

Military History Museum

The second most important attraction of the city can rightfully be called an underground submarine factory or a military history museum.

This secret facility, built in the Soviet Union, has long been the main secret of Balaklava Bay. Today, underground adits carved into the rock have been converted into museum complex.

Temple of the Twelve Apostles

Also quite famous landmark of the city is the famous Temple of the Holy Twelve Apostles.

It is noteworthy that it was built in 1794, but its foundation was built by the Genoese in the 6th century. Currently, the church is active and open to the public.

St. George's Monastery

Another place located near Balaklava, which I advise everyone to visit, is St. George's Monastery.

This monastery of monks, which is still active today, traces its history back to 1578. Today, from its territory you can admire magnificent views of the rocks and the sea.

barrel of death

Be sure to visit the so-called "barrel of death", which rises above the entrance to Balaklava Bay.

At one time, this structure was intended to monitor the enemy, and today it is used as a place for tourists, from where a stunning view opens.

Beaches. Which is better

Balaklava is also famous for its picturesque beaches, which are located on both sides of the city bay. The most famous include:

Urban;

Marble;

Near;

Silver;

Gold.

I'll tell you a little more about the ones I liked the most.

City Beach

It is located within the city at the very end of the Nazukin embankment. The nearest stop is at the 1st May Square. You can get to it by buses number 9, 108 and 119.

It is fully equipped for recreation, has a concrete surface and a convenient descent to the sea.

Here you can use the benches, deck chairs and sunshades for free. In addition, there are various cafes on the beach where you can drink a refreshing drink, eat ice cream or a hot dog. On average, a half-liter bottle of lemonade costs 50, a hot dog 100, and ice cream prices start at 30 rubles.

marble beach

On the opposite side of the bay, there is another city beach - "Marble" - with a pebble coating, which also has all the necessary infrastructure for recreation. Here you can use sun loungers, awnings, changing rooms and a toilet for free.

You can get to it from May 1 Square, located in the center of Balaklava, for 100 rubles by taxi or on foot.

"Vasili"

To the west of Balaklava Bay is Vasili Beach. An asphalt road leads to it from the Marble Embankment. On the beach itself there are free trestle beds, sun loungers, changing rooms, cafes with drinks, ice cream and hot dogs. Average prices as on the City Beach.

You can get to it only by your own car, on foot or by taxi, while the trip will cost 150 rubles.

Silver Beach

Those who prefer to relax away from people can visit this beach, which will have to be reached along a winding path on foot. By car, you can drive along the Historical Street, which starts from the Nazukin embankment to the turn to Mount Asceta and then go down about 200 meters to the sea on foot. Bus routes no one passes through this point, and a taxi will cost an average of 100 rubles.

The beach itself is located at the base of the Gray Mountain, has a pebble coating.

golden beach

The road takes about an hour and a half on foot, but on the way you can enjoy beautiful views of the sea and breathe in the purest mountain air.

Churches and temples. Which are worth a visit

There are only two Orthodox churches in the city, and each of them is of interest from the point of view of history. I recommend visiting both of these iconic sites and taking a closer look at their past.

Temple of the Twelve Apostles

The main city church in Balaklava is the Temple of the Holy Twelve Apostles. It is located in the very center of the city near the Nazukin embankment at the address: st. Rubtsova, 41.

You can get to it on foot.

Currently, this church is one of the oldest in the Crimea. The temple was built in 1794, but the foundation of the Byzantine period of the 6th century served as its foundation.

Today in this sacred place daily and festive services are held, in addition, the doors of the church are open for visiting tourists every day from 8 am to 6 pm.

St. George's Monastery

Another religious building in Balaklava is St. George's Monastery.

The date of its foundation is considered to be 1578. The monastery complex rises on the edge of a cliff above the sea itself. Today monks live in it, and the monastery is open for visiting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm.

You need to get off at the Fiolent stop, and then follow the signs for about two kilometers on foot.

Museums. Which are worth a visit

The only museum in Balaklava is the former secret underground submarine repair base. It is located at: Tavricheskaya embankment, 22. The museum is open for visiting from 10 to 18 daily, except Monday and Tuesday. The ticket price for adults is 200 rubles, for children and students 100.

At one time, this object was top secret. It was intended mainly for the repair and parking of submarines. At the same time, about 9 ships could fit in it. Construction began in the 1950s. The uniqueness of adits lies in the fact that they are cut into the rock, and, in addition to shipping channels, there is a dry dock inside, as well as many technical premises intended for storage, including nuclear weapons.

Currently, tourists can see the channel itself, along which boats used to go, as well as some service rooms where torpedo samples, some types of underwater equipment and other interesting exhibits are exhibited.

Children under the age of 5 are not allowed to enter the museum. This is mainly due to the fact that poor lighting is installed in the halls, and high humidity is also observed.

For those who decide to visit this museum complex, I recommend dressing warmly. Inside it is maintained a temperature of +16 degrees all year round.

parks

There are none in Balaclava big park. Meanwhile, the city has several small squares and alleys with comfortable benches where you can relax in the cool shade of trees.

So, a small but picturesque and green area with benches is located on Solnechnaya Street near the Obolon bus stop.

tourist streets

All major tourist routes in Balaklava pass through the city center. The busiest places are the Nazukin and Tauride embankments.

In addition, Rubtsova and Marble streets are of interest to tourists.

Embankment Nazukin

On the central city embankment, which is named after the hero-sailor Nazukin, all major events take place.

There are also numerous cafes and restaurants. At the very beginning of the street, there is a brand store of the famous Zolotaya Balka champagne factory, opposite which is the Golden Symbol Yacht Club.

During the season, many expensive yachts are moored at the embankment, next to which you can take pictures. In addition, on this main city street, the former profitable house of Khristopulo, the dachas of Maretskaya and Sokolova, which are architectural monuments, have been preserved.

Tavricheskaya embankment

On the opposite bank of the Balaklava Bay, you can take a walk along the Tavricheskaya embankment.

It is especially busy here in the evening, when night lighting is turned on.

Rubtsova and Marble streets

Marble Street originates from the Tavricheskaya embankment, on which the submarine museum is located. To feel the historical charm of Balaklava, you should definitely take a walk along Rubtsova Street, which starts from the Nazukin embankment. Here is one of the main attractions of the city - the Temple of the Twelve Apostles.

What to see in 1 day

If you have only a day to get to know the city, then I recommend starting your tour from the embankments that originate from Peace Square.

Below I will provide approximate route one day, which is suitable for those who want to quickly explore Balaklava:

  • It is best to start exploring the city from the Nazukin Embankment. One hour is enough to see all its beauty and drink coffee in one of the cozy cafes. Rubtsova Street originates from the embankment, where the Temple of the Twelve Apostles is located, it should also be visited.
  • Next, you should go to the Temple of the Twelve Apostles. This is the oldest functioning church in Crimea, built in 1794. After that, you need to go back to the Peace Square, and turn in the opposite direction, where the Tauride Embankment begins.
  • The Tavricheskaya embankment offers stunning views of the mountains and the bay. There are benches where you can relax and breathe in the fresh sea air, and then turn onto Marble Street, where the Submarine Museum is located.
  • The Submarine Museum is located inside the rock and occupies a large area. In order to fully examine it, it will take at least three hours. After reviewing the entire exposition, I recommend going to the city beach and spending the rest of the time near the sea.

Balaklava is a small town, and one day is enough to get acquainted with all its beauties. The main thing is to correctly allocate time and take a map with you.

What to see in the surroundings

In the vicinity of Balaklava there are several interesting places that you should definitely visit.

Architectural monuments

One of the most famous sights is the Cembalo fortress, which I mentioned above. The ruins of its towers are located above the entrance to the bay and are visible from almost anywhere in the city. Today this place is part of the Tauric Chersonesos nature reserve and is open to tourists.

Not far from the city is the active St. George's Monastery, which I also already spoke about. At one time, such famous personalities as Griboyedov, Chekhov visited here. The monastery is located on upper terrace rocks, right above the sea, and is a complex of structures.

natural attractions

will not leave you indifferent Batiliman Bay, which is simply buried in juniper thickets.

It is worth seeing located near Balaklava cape aya and Fiolent from which a unique view of the Black Sea opens.

nearby islands

Despite the fact that Balaklava is located in one of the most picturesque Crimean bays, there are no islands near it.

Food. What to try

Balaklava has a well-developed catering network. The city has a large number of restaurants and cafes, in addition to them there are inexpensive canteens.

The main focus of the menu is on seafood. Here you can try fried red mullet, a salad of Black Sea rapans or mussels, and try shrimp. Most establishments offer a European menu, but there are also sushi bars.

Lunch for two in a small cafe on the embankment will cost an average of 600 rubles. Eating at a restaurant will cost at least twice as much.

Those who prefer to cook on their own will be able to purchase products at the city market, which is located near the Nazukin embankment. The prices here are quite reasonable:

  • potatoes - 25 rubles / kg;
  • chicken eggs - 45 rubles (ten);
  • chicken fillet - 220 rubles.

In addition, there are several supermarkets in Balaklava, and there are many small grocery stores.

Budget

If you are limited in money, then I advise you to visit:

  • cafe "Rybka";

Three holidays are widely celebrated in Balaklava, namely:

  • day of the city;
  • fisherman's day
  • Fleet day;

Day of the city

City Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in June. As a rule, various festivals, fairs and sports competitions are held on this day, in which everyone can take part.

In the evening, on the central Nazukin embankment, you can watch a concert, local creative teams take part in it. Fireworks light up the night sky at 9pm.

Fisherman's Day

Since Balaklava is a maritime city, it is customary to widely celebrate the day of the fisherman here. The holiday takes place on the second Sunday of July. All major events take place on the Nazukin embankment.

On this day, a fish fair is held for residents and guests of the city, where you can buy fresh seafood, and everyone can take part in various competitions and watch thematic performances.

Fleet Day

Perhaps the main city celebration for Balaklava is the Fleet Day, which is celebrated on the last Sunday of July.

Despite the fact that all the main events on this day are held in the center of Sevastopol, there is something to see here. On this holiday, a stage is set up on the Balaklava embankment, where local creative teams perform all day long, and various competitions are also held. Also on the day of the Fleet, you can visit the submarine museum for free.

Security. What to watch out for

Balaklava is considered a relatively calm and quiet place. In general, it is safe to move around.

By personal experience I can say that at night the central part of the city is quite well lit, police patrols meet here periodically. Outskirts, especially private sector, are poorly lit, and in the evening it is not crowded, which causes certain concerns.

As in any resort town, various scammers and pickpockets are detained in Balaklava from time to time, but this happens quite rarely. Personally, walking around the city in the evening and during the day, I did not feel any danger and did not encounter any manifestation of aggression.

Things to do

The balaclava only seems small and quiet town. In fact, there are all conditions for active and even extreme recreation.

You can get information about entertainment and pay for it at the central promenade from distributors. There you agree on the route and time.

I had a lot of fun with some of the amusements that were offered, which I will gladly tell you about.

Horseback riding

Many exciting excursions on horseback are offered. So the familiarization route, which takes one hour in time and passes through the immediate vicinity of the town, will cost a thousand rubles per person.

In turn, horseback riding for 4 hours on the nearest hills, from which an excellent view opens, will cost 3,300 rubles per person. There is a route designed for the whole day, it costs 5500 rubles and includes, among other things, a visit wild beach near Balaklava.

Fans of high speeds are offered quad biking. You can order entertainment on the First of May Square under the corresponding sign.

The organizers offer various routes, and on average an hour of skiing per person will cost 1250 rubles.

Kayaking

Those who prefer sea travel can go on an exciting kayak trip.

The rental point is located at the end of the Tavricheskaya embankment where the soldier's beach begins. The cost of skiing for one person for one hour is 150 rubles.

Shopping and shops

Shoppers in Balaklava have nothing to do. There are no branded stores where you can buy quality items. If there is a need to make purchases, then in this case I recommend going to the center of Sevastopol, where there are a large number of outlets, including branded ones.

Bars. Where to go

You can have a delicious meal and watch an interesting entertainment program in Balaklava in numerous bars and restaurants.

One of the most popular places is a small fish cafe "Rybak's Hut", where you can taste fresh Black Sea fish, drink beer, wine or stronger drinks, listen to live music. The establishment is open until 24 hours. The average cost of drinks here is:

The following establishments are also popular:

Clubs and nightlife

Nightlife in Balaklava is represented by only one club, the Golden Symbol. It is located right on the territory of the yacht club at the address: Nazukin embankment, house 1a.

It is noteworthy that the dance floor under open sky located near the sea.

The institution works until the last visitor. Entrance with the condition that an order will be made at the bar is free. Entertainment hosted by local DJs. The average cost of an alcoholic cocktail is 300 rubles, cold cuts will cost 800 rubles, a cup of coffee costs 150 rubles.

Among extreme entertainment Diving is well developed in Balaklava. The local club Aquamarine is located on the central Nazukin embankment. Here you can rent professional equipment for 1200 rubles. Diving with an instructor will cost an average of 2000 rubles. In addition, a boat rental is additionally provided for 3,500 rubles per hour.

Souvenirs. What to bring as a gift

In memory of visiting Balaklava, you can bring a variety of souvenirs with a marine theme, which are sold on the embankment.

Local craftsmen offer:

  • interesting seashells from 50 rubles;
  • magnets with a photo of the Balaklava embankment from 80 rubles;
  • mugs and plates with the image of the main sights from 150 rubles;
  • T-shirts, as well as vests, the average cost of which is 400 rubles.

Personally, I bought magnets with views of the city and a sailor's hat with the inscription "Balaklava", which cost me 350 rubles.

How to move around the city

Balaklava is a small town, and therefore many locals prefer to travel on foot.

Meanwhile, several routes pass through it. public transport connecting Balaklava with Sevastopol. So you can get from the Nazukin embankment to the exit from the city by minibuses No. 9, 108 and 119, the fare in which is 12 rubles during the day and 20 at night. Buses run every 5 minutes during the day. At night, when full.

Taxi. What features exist

Finding a taxi in Balaklava is quite simple. First of all, you can order a car by phone, then within 10 minutes it will be served at the place you specified.

The city has its own taxi service "Pineapple". The cost of car delivery is on average 65 rubles, the fare is paid according to the meter 15 rubles per kilometer.

The city taxi rank is located on central square May 1. From personal experience, I can say that the cost of a ride along Balaklava is an average of 100 rubles to anywhere in the city. If you need to get to the airport, which is located in Simferopol, then you will have to pay from 2,500 to 3,000 rubles for a car.

Trams

There are no trams in the city.

Underground

  • Mitsubishi or Hyundai from 1600 rubles per day.
  • Chevrolet Aveo will cost from 2500 rubles.

The cost of gasoline in the Crimea practically does not differ from the national one. Below I will give prices in rubles per 1 liter:

  • A-80 - 37;
  • A-95 - 40;
  • A-98 - 44.

Tips for motorists

For experienced motorists, it will not be difficult to safely move around Balaklava. The city is small and the traffic here is quite slow. Even at rush hour, there are no congestions and traffic jams on the city streets.

The only problem, as for me, when driving around Balaklava by car are cyclists, who can suddenly appear at the most inopportune moment. The central Nazukin and Tavricheskaya embankments are closed to traffic.

Balaklava - holidays with children

For children, rest in Balaklava is presented quite modestly. On the embankment there are small attractions in the form of swings and a trampoline for jumping. In addition, on city beaches, kids can slide into the water from inflatable slides, and this is perhaps all that there is from children's entertainment.

The main sights like the Cembalo fortress, the barrels of death or the St. George Monastery are located some distance from the city, and the road to them is quite winding, and it is simply dangerous to take children there.

This area was taken over by the Romans. Later, in the middle of the XIV century, the Genoese appeared here, who turned the Greek name Syumbolon (Symbolon) into Chembalo (Tsembalo, Tsembaldo). The Genoese erected defensive structures, towers at the entrance to the bay, built a fortress, the remains of which have survived to this day. In 1475, the Ottoman Turks captured the fortress and named it Balaklava. However, for a long time, the locals continued to call the city Yambold, Yambol or Yamboli, which apparently means a distorted Chembalo. A number of researchers deduce the origin of the Turkish name Balaklava from the Turkish words "Balyk-yuve" (fish nest), others - from the word "Balykase" - a fish house. Some researchers believe that the

Beaches

Located at the foot of the Crimean Mountains, surrounded by pine and juniper forests, Balaklava beaches are very popular. The water here is clean. The bottom is sandy, the sides are rocky. Boulders stick out of the water. The mountains reliably protect the beaches of the Balaklava coast from all winds, only a warm south wind is available. Boats and skiffs (private boats) go to the beach. You can also get to these beaches on foot - to the left of the Cembalo fortress along the picturesque tourist trail walk along the coast. The path goes along the cliff at a height of 100-150 meters. It is better to do this in the evening, returning from the beach. The sun will illuminate the entire magnificent panorama of the Balaklava Bay to the horizon for 40-45 kilometers. The whole journey will take you about 40 minutes from the "Silver" and about an hour and a half from the "Golden" beach. special attention deserves a panorama near the Chembol fortress.

  • "Jasper" or "Monastic" beach. The westernmost point of the southern coast of Crimea. To him from St. George's Monastery, located on Cape Fiolent, are the steps of the very high stairs Crimea. It descends to the sea from a height of 200 meters and has 800 steps. The beach is about a kilometer long. This is one of the most picturesque and clean beaches coast of Balaklava and Cape Fiolent. It is literally strewn with sand and multi-colored small pebbles, and the water is so transparent that every pebble lying on the bottom of the sea is visible. The beach is well equipped and kept clean.
  • Vasili Beach. Located between "Yashmov" beach and entrance to Balaklava bay. Shuttle taxis (10 minutes drive) go from the entrance to the former underground factory to the beach. Sand and small pebbles. The water is clean. Lots of free space.
  • "Middle" or "Silver" the beach, got its second name, most likely from the payment for transportation to the boatman in the old days. Due to its accessibility and relatively large size, this is perhaps the most popular beach for those who want to swim, dive, sunbathe. The beach has small pebbles mixed with coarse sand. Stones on both sides. The bottom of the sea is sandy, starting from a depth of 1.5 meters, underwater boulders can come across, so you should dive carefully here. The water is clean. There are places shaded by trees. On the slopes of a mountain overgrown with juniper (for damaging juniper and pine Stankevich can be fined), you can install a tent for spending the night.

The length of the "Golden" beach is about 800 meters. Width 15-20 meters. More "Middle", but less comfortable. Pebbles, mostly medium and large, there are boulders. Starting from a depth of 1 meter, small islands of boulders peek out of the water from which you can jump and take pictures against the backdrop of a magnificent seascape. There is an opportunity to take a fancy to a secluded place by the sea in a bay (but it must be remembered that starting from the path leading to Cape Aya, the territory of the Republican reserve "Ayazma" begins (foresters may be fined).

  • "Shaitan-dere" ("Devil's Ravine"). The beach at the entrance to the Balaklava bay. The name speaks for itself about the danger of traveling to this place of rest, first along a mountain path through steep cliffs, then along a 10-meter metal, and in some places a frail rope ladder attached to the rock. But it is close to Balaklava, and due to the inaccessibility it is not crowded and clean.
