Cliff Crimea. The Utes village in Crimea is a fabulous corner of the southern part of the peninsula for lovers of nature and quiet rest

The village of Utes in Crimea is a small settlement located in the southern part of the peninsula. It is rich in picturesque landscapes and, according to reviews, resembles a small French resort. Rest in the village of Utes (Crimea) will be appreciated by lovers of the gentle sun, clear sea water and a deserted beach. In addition, there are several interesting sights here. The article describes the history of these places, as well as photos of the Utes village in the Crimea.

The quietest places on the peninsula

The village of Utes (Crimea) is located ten kilometers from Alushta, twenty kilometers from Yalta. Partenit is also located not far from this settlement. From the sea, the view of the village is amazing. In the first days of your stay here, you get the impression that this resort is isolated from the outside world. The inhabitants of the village live like a special life, far from the whole peninsula. There are no nightclubs, noisy restaurants. In the village of Utes (Crimea) there are only small but cozy cafes that play quiet lyrical music and serve delicious food.

Domain of an Austrian aristocrat

The history of the village is quite interesting. At various times, these lands were owned by Russian foreign nobles. The first was an Austrian from the famous Liney family. He owned several villages located along the coast, which he received as a gift from Catherine II.

The Austrian aristocrat disposed of the lands in a rather peculiar way. He began to settle by their fugitive foreign criminals to which the Russian government could not respond positively. Soon, however, he went bankrupt and lost the lands that he had once received from the empress, and they returned to the state treasury.

General Borozdin

In 1808, Andrei Mikhailovich Borozdin, a lieutenant-general and statesman, became the owner of the village of Utes, thanks to whom, after the Patriotic War, the plague epidemic was stopped in the Crimea. This man owned several estates on the peninsula, which became a favorite destination for Russian and foreign voyagers.

In 1812, Borozdin asked permission from the emperor to go to the army. Despite the fact that he received permission, he could not leave the Crimea, since it was at that time that a terrible epidemic broke out. The infection has spread to more than fifty villages. Borozdin in those years controlled all the ground forces on the peninsula. He acted quickly and competently, thanks to which the deadly disease not only did not spread beyond the peninsula, but was even stopped in some regions of the Crimea.

Gagarins

By order of Borozdin, magnificent parks and gardens were built on the territory of the modern Utes village. In addition, he built several European-style estates. But in 1838 the estate was transferred to Gagarin. Representatives of this noble family owned the village until 1917. After the revolution, local attractions were nationalized.

In 1927, a terrible earthquake occurred in the Crimea. The village was in the most dangerous zone, but the sights, fortunately, survived. Today, on the territory of the Utes village, there is a sanatorium and resort complex of the same name. The population is less than 300 people. The sights of the village include the palace of Princess Gagarina, Cape Plaka, the park of the sanatorium "Utes".

Borozdin's estate

The palace of Princess Gagarina was built at the beginning of the 20th century. It is located at Cape Plaka. The palace was built by order of Anastasia Davidovna Orbeliani-Gagarina- the widow of the General of the Russian Imperial Army.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Borozdin built a manor in the Empire style on Cape Plaka. The building had comfortable rooms, a big library and surrounded by a picturesque park. At Borozdin's estate, quite famous people, including Griboyedov and Pushkin. After his death, the estate passed to the daughter of Mary, then to her second husband - Prince Alexander Ivanovich Gagarin. Since 1857, it was owned by a Georgian princess, who, however, was directly related to the Gagarin family.

Palace construction

This lady lived a long life. And at the age of seventy, in 1902, the princess conceived the construction of a new palace. The well-known architect Nikolai Krasnov, the author of several sights of the Crimea, was involved in its design. Construction proceeded rapidly. Materials were imported mainly from abroad. So, facing tiles and marble were brought from Italy. Venetian glass is from France. Carpenters, masons, carpenters and tilers, the princess ordered from various Russian provinces.

If Gagarina had known that ten years after her death, the palace would become the property of the new state, she would probably have been upset a lot. But the princess did not know about this. She died in 1907, the same year the building was completed. Today, the palace houses the administration of the Utes sanatorium. Above the main entrance is the Gagarin family coat of arms, which has been missing here for several decades. In the nineties, this symbol of a noble noble family was returned.

Cape Plaka

Since 1947, the cape has had the status of a natural monument. If you look at the map, you can find a rather original natural composition. In shape, it resembles a dog's muzzle in profile. Some in the outline of this part south coast see an owl or a mushroom. The height of the cape is fifty meters, and the length is about 300. Nearby, as already mentioned, there is a house church and Gagarina's palace. There are also several guest houses nearby.

Over 200 species of exotic plants from different countries grow in the park of the Utes sanatorium, among which you can see pomegranate, laurel, cherry laurel, cedar, almond, sequoia. The alleys smoothly pass into the neighboring park surrounding the Karasan sanatorium (in Persian it sounds like “sunrise”), located in the Raevsky estate, built in the Moorish style. The sanatorium is surrounded by exotic plants, among which there are many palm trees and coniferous trees, and colorful flower beds that attract the eye. Visitors to the park have the opportunity to walk along the famous alley of cypresses, called Pushkinskaya.

The local embankment also gathers many vacationers, along which shops selling souvenirs are located.

There are other entertainments in Utes: billiards, an Internet club, a dance floor, a cinema under open sky, library.

Vacationers with health problems in the sanatorium "Utes" will offer wellness treatments. Those who wish can relax under the experienced hands of masseurs working right on the beach.

rest in cliff suitable for people with different incomes. Here you can stay in luxurious luxury hotels or either settle in economy hotels, boathouses or.

A wide choice of vacationers will be offered. Guests can choose a room furnished in Greek, Egyptian, African or Wild West style. Also, according to your taste, you can choose a view from the window to the sea or mountain peaks.

It will hospitably open its doors to vacationers and.

Get to Utes you can take a taxi or bus from . You can easily get to Alushta from Simferopol by taxi, intercity bus or trolleybus.

This resort appeared around the sanatorium of the same name, and it has been developing over the past 10 years. So, this is not even a village in the truest sense of the word, but a resort. It all consists of boarding houses, boathouses, hotels and other tourist accommodation facilities.

Advise Utes can be for a calm beach holiday surrounded by stunning landscapes and in a healing microclimate. But - it is worth bearing in mind that this is a mountainous village. So, you will have tiring climbs and equally unpleasant descents. For the same reason, I do not recommend a vacation in Utes with small children. With a stroller in the village will be, to put it mildly, uncomfortable.

Utes infrastructure

As I already mentioned, the entire infrastructure of the village is tied up with tourists. The main advantage is housing different levels. There is also a dense building with boathouses, literally, on the beach. And boarding houses, and sanatoriums, and hotels. The price range is different, but you can find quite decent and well-located accommodation options at an adequate cost.

There are shops, cafes and restaurants in the village. There are beach activities, although they are rather scarce. There is practically no infrastructure for children. I mean good playgrounds, attractions, etc.

Cliff Beaches

The beaches of the village are quite typical for the resorts of the South Coast as a whole. Narrow, pebbly, with breakwaters and fairly rapid depth. In addition to pebble beaches (I advise you to take special shoes), there are also concrete beaches in Utes. But not as dull as in Sevastopol on Cape Khrustalny, for example. And bright, painted in different colors. The idea is great, in my opinion. Concrete beaches are equipped with descents into the water.

There are also quite wild rocky areas. Just for lovers of even tan.

During the peak season, some beaches are packed. The place, of course, is enough for everyone, but the resort cannot be called not crowded during such periods either.

What to see in Utes

It is very pleasant to wander around the surroundings of the Utes. By Cape Plaka from where stunning views open. Meet the dawn on the embankment.

In the village itself, the picturesque Utes sanatorium park. Walking on it is a real pleasure. Not far from the entrance to the park is the majestic castle of Princess Gagarina. Today, the castle houses the administration of the sanatorium, some rooms can be entered completely freely.

You can walk along the alleys of the park health resort Karasan. Today it is a sanatorium, and before that it was the Raevsky estate.

If you want more, neighboring cities and towns are at the service of tourists. But to make excursions from the village of Utes is not very convenient. I mean public transport. Buses are full during the season and do not run very often.

How to get to Utes

From Simferopol airport you need to get to the bus station, from there you can take a direct flight to Utes. During the season, buses run quite often. Another option is to take a ticket to Alushta and get off, before reaching the final destination, get off at the Maly Mayak stop. But in this case, you have to go to the village about 4 km.

There is also a bus from Yalta to Utes.

Utes village, located near Alushta, just 20 minutes by car. It's petite resort settlement, grew up next to the sanatorium of the same name. The cliff is not like other cities South Shore Crimea, it is also called the village of boathouses. Initially, the boathouse was a kind of garage for boats, but now the situation has changed and over technical rooms residential buildings were built on, but somewhere there are no garages at all. Now Utes is a dense development of multi-colored hotel houses, narrow and bright. The village is very small, the promenade with hotels is only about 700 meters away.

The architecture of the village is quite controversial, I would not say that these are masterpieces of architecture, rather closer to the Luzhkov style. But it is the uniformity of development that makes the village attractive, everything is fresh, built no more than 15 years ago, everything is bright and colorful. A narrow strip of the embankment and houses hanging over the water. In my instagram Users have made very contrasting remarks about the architecture of the Cliff. Someone seems very interesting and makes you want to go see. Someone says that such structures are ugliness. Apparently the situation is like with licorice =) either you like it or you don't. I rather liked Utes.

All resort settlements of the South Coast very monotonous, these are Soviet sanatoriums and terrible variegated buildings of the private sector, mixed with beautiful nature and beautiful views. The village of Utes is the same as a sip fresh air=) Houses, clean, bright and identical. I like the consistency between the neighbors of this village. People have tried to make this place beautiful.

Utes has one important and in my opinion a wonderful feature. Many have seen the concrete Black Sea embankments from which it is supposed to swim, like the Khrustalny beach in Sevastopol. Looks functional but very dull. In Utes, they found an enchantingly simple and beautiful solution - to paint the concrete with colored paint. Somewhere blue, somewhere green ... it looks great, as if the bottom of the pool was drained

There is little vegetation on the Utes embankment, but this is rather a minus of a narrow coastal strip - there is simply no place for vegetation. Literally a 10-minute walk from the embankment there is a large and green territory of the boarding house "Utes", where there are coniferous plants, and a view of the Bear Mountain, and even fairy palace Princess Gagarina.

We noticed a lot of vacationers with children, probably convenient because of the 1 minute proximity to the sea. For swimming with children, there are several pebble sections of the beach. Sun loungers everywhere, cleanliness and beauty. The only thing I would like to wish Utes is to acquire a little gloss. On a concrete beach, it would be nicefreshen up the paint, and make a lot of cafes less soviet. After all, the potential of the place is wonderful, it can turn out to be such a Crimean Europe.

The most convenient way to get to Utes is by personal transport, but keep in mind that the village is small and narrow, there is very little parking space. If you want to come on your own, like us, then the most convenient way, a bus coming from Simferopol, with a stop in Alushta, only three flights a day. Or the option to get there by any transport and turn to the Utes sanatorium, 4 km down, you can hitchhike.

A great solution in Utes is to paint the concrete embankment in bright colors

Another example of how a beautiful swimming area can be made from a concrete embankment
