Initially, the night from April 30 to May 1 was considered magical and was called Walpurgis. People in ancient times believed that it was at this time that witches flock to the annual Sabbat. But after protracted inquisitorial processes, the ancient pagan holiday of honoring magic turned into a night of burning witches. These are some interesting metamorphoses. Of course, today Walpurgis Night is not associated with the chanting of evil spirits. Rather, it is a merry celebration of the arrival of spring. On this day, it is customary to jump over the fire to cleanse from evil, or simply throw notes into the fire with your shortcomings that interfere with life. Noisy festivities take place all night long in the city and everywhere you can see witches and sorceresses dressed up in costumes. They gradually flock towards the top of the Petrin Hill to perform a ritual burning in Petrin Hill Park.

After all the witches, or at least their effigies, are burned at the stake in the Czech capital on the night of May 1, a new day comes. And it is called the Day of Labor, Spring and Lovers. On this day, according to the Czech tradition, all lovers must kiss under the cherry tree. This event, pleasant in all respects, symbolizes a long union and unfading love.

By the way, on the same Petřín hill, among various trees, cherries also grow. Therefore, after the stormy Walpurgis Night on Petrin, a truly heavenly time comes.

And all because it is in spring that the beautiful Prague is buried in flowers. Indeed, in spring, luxurious tulips bloom in the flower beds, and fertile trees, of which there are hundreds of thousands in Prague, envelop all Prague parks and gardens with their flowering. For example, apple, pear, hazel, sakura, plum and, of course, beautiful magnolia trees bloom here. And tourists try to get to Prague in the spring just to take a photo with magnolias. In this post, I will tell you where magnolia blooms in Prague and show a photo of this beautiful tree.

When I went to the Crimea for the first time as a child, I was very struck by the magnolias. Blooming apple trees from Siberia were not surprising, but magnolias were a marvel.

Magnolias usually bloom for 3-7 days. Magnolia flowering season in Prague: late March - early April. In 2018, magnolias began to bloom only now - April 7th. So if you hesitate a little, you can miss the magnolia flowers.

Bright flowers of saturated color will not leave anyone indifferent. Large magnolia flowers look very impressive, because. During flowering, there are no leaves on the trees.

A request to all residents and tourists of Prague: when taking a photo, do not shake the tree, do not climb on it. After all, the photos will turn out great anyway, especially in the gentle sunset light, and you shouldn’t mock the tree.

Prague parks where you can find blooming magnolias

Wallenstein Garden is a garden where you can take pictures with a white peacock and look at the big carps in the pond. The park is very beautiful even without magnolias, thanks to the view of Prague Castle and a large number flowers and sculptures. You can read more about the garden in our article "".

Vojanovy Gardens (Vojanovy Sady)- this is where the coolest and most magnificent magnolias are located. The park also attracts people by the fact that a lot of peacocks roam freely around it. In addition to magnolias, pears, hazels, and tulips bloom in the park.

Magnolia Strahov monastery. So I never managed to photograph the magnolia blooming in this place. A few more magnolias met on, but they could not be photographed.

Magnolia in the Park Podvinny Mlyn (Podvinný mlyn). There are 2 large magnolias growing in the park.

Františkánská zahrada, in which one small, but very elegant magnolia grows with bright pink flowers.

In Vinohrady Magnolias are also occasionally found in private gardens. I can’t give you specific addresses, because. we like to wander around Vinohrady just like that without making a route.

Stand-alone magnolia at the concert hall Rudolfinum (Rudolfinum). Usually the tree blooms later than magnolias in Waldstein or.

“Is it true that the best time to visit Prague is in the spring? And if in the spring - then when: in April, or is it closer to summer, in May? Or, on the contrary, in March - after all, there are still few tourists after the winter, and everything should be cheaper ... But maybe it’s still cold in March?

These and similar questions are most often of concern to tourists and travelers - those who first go to the Czech Republic in the spring.

Spring in Prague is when like this!

And this is also the Prague Spring.

Prague is beautiful at any time of the year, but There really is no better time than spring to visit the Czech capital. There are not so many tourists yet, and walking along the winding streets of Prague, where each old house has its own history or mystical legend, and sometimes even your own ghost is a pleasure.

And if the day turns out to be sunny and little windy, the walk will be doubly pleasant.

Doubly…

But spring in Prague is often capricious, and it can be difficult to guess which of the spring months is the best time to go on a Prague voyage.

However, there are still some patterns in the weather of the Prague spring, we will try to identify and identify them.

Weather in Prague in spring

Valeria (28 years old, Voronezh) - “Forecasters can be wrong”:

“Two years ago I helped a friend with advice before a trip to Prague, watched with her the April forecasts for every week on all sites. They chose, as it seemed to us, the most suitable seven-day period with promises of almost summer heat, and she took T-shirts with her from her clothes ... On the spot, then I had to put them on all at once, and walk around the city like cabbage. It’s good that she took at least one sweater with her, in which she set off from cold Voronezh at night.

Forecasters, as a science, at that time was not up to par. But next year, we are already showing off with her in pictures from April Prague, showing off our “bicycle” tan, and in just two days! This happened "spring weekend in Prague." In short - how lucky!

Take different clothes with you so as not to get cold.

Pick up your clothes closer to the start of the Prague tour: a short-term forecast before your trip will be more accurate. Be sure to provide protection from rain and wind: an umbrella or a windbreaker with a hood, one warm sweater also does not hurt. And comfortable shoes for walking along the cobbled streets of old Prague are simply necessary - no stilettos and new, still unused model shoes!

Prague paving stones are always good, but in spring they are especially beautiful…
Therefore, your shoes should be comfortable.

Spring Prague can meet with a hot, almost summer day in April, and a piercing wind with minus night temperatures in March, and heavy rain in May. A word to the weathermen.

Spring excursions in Prague

There are different Russian-language excursions around the Czech capital: and, and, and, and on segways.

Segway tour - for any age: it seems like you are going, but it seems like you are walking.

  • 47,000 rubles - in March;
  • 62,000 rubles - in April;
  • 74,000 rubles - in May.

The price usually, in addition to the flight, accommodation and breakfast at the hotel, includes a transfer from the airport upon arrival (and back upon departure) and medical insurance.

Some operators include a walking tour of the city in the price.

We go on our own - we plan and book ourselves

Choosing a hotel

The average price of a double room in a 4* hotel in the city center in the spring is 6,000 rubles per day.
But if you want to save money, it is quite possible to find a three-ruble note for two thousand or even one and a half.

Eugene, 39 years old, Moscow. Review of the hotel «AURUS»

“On our last trip to Prague in April 2017, we rented a 2-room suite at the 4* Aurus hotel. This, one might say, is in the very, very center of Prague: 3 minutes - and you are on the Charles Bridge! The building is old, there are wooden beams everywhere on the ceiling, the room has classic-style furniture, and the rooms themselves are huge and generally comfortable, but there are no slippers and bathrobes.

The room has a mini-bar, but paid, and there is a kettle with tea bags. In the morning in a large beautiful dining room Buffet, but the breakfasts themselves - without much variety: from the main dishes - an omelette or scrambled eggs. But there are many places nearby where you can eat well and tasty. Without exception, all the staff understands Russian, is friendly and helpful. The youngest daughter had a birthday, and in the evening, when we returned from a walk, Masha found a greeting card from the hotel and a box of chocolates on her bed - she was delighted, it was so unexpected!

There are many good hotels in the city - there are plenty to choose from.

Flights

The flight will cost less if, best of all, in 4-6 months. A round-trip flight from Moscow to Prague in economy class for 1 person for any month of spring will cost about 10,000 rubles with transfers and about 14,000 rubles direct.

Which is better: a tour or an independent trip

What is preferable - take a tour to Prague or book a hotel and fly on your own?

This is decided in each case separately, because there are many options, and need careful calculation and comparison.

May… In our country, all nature only comes to life, there are more and more sunny days… The soul sings, we want changes. And we decided to go on vacation, the choice was the Czech Republic, namely its capital - Prague.
The weather was wonderful, the heat was unusual for this time ... The city was covered with bright, lush greenery, on every corner there were indescribable beauty trees… It was sakura!

Arriving, we quickly settled in the Pyramida 4 * hotel, which is located in close proximity to the Prague Castle. This is a good four with an advantageous location. We were given a studio room. Huge room with a loggia, accommodated comfortably 3 adults and a child of 2 years. There are few Russians in the hotel, mostly this is a place favored by the Germans. The food is standard, not very varied (sausages, scrambled eggs, fried bacon, various cereals, there are coffee machines, juice, tea to choose from, delicious pastries), but they cook deliciously, the products are always fresh. In May, there was construction going on near the hotel, but, oddly enough, there was no noise in the rooms. Cleaned and changed towels in the hotel every day. Convenient location, tram stop across the road, 5 minutes and you are at the metro, 15 minutes and you are on Wenceslas Square. A 5-7 minute walk is the Strahov Monastery, where the monks brew the delicious St. Norbert beer, they also cook a magnificent knee here. This is where we went for dinner. Having eaten our fill, and for a small price, we decided to take a walk to the house on foot ... Shops close very early in the Czech Republic, so that evening we did not have time to buy anything tasty in the room, but later we took this into account.

The next day was a sightseeing tour of Prague. I (since I was the only one who went on excursions, my companions had already been to Prague several times before and went there just to take a walk and relax, and not for the sake of excursions) got a very good guide, everything is accessible and very interesting! The most beautiful architectural structures of the center of Prague were shown, walked along the famous Charles Bridge (where many legends were told, and Prague, like any ancient city, has become overgrown with myths and legends during its existence). And then we had lunch in a traditional Czech restaurant, where national dishes were served for lunch: soups (though very fatty, for my taste, like almost all food in the Czech Republic), fried meat, dumplings and, of course, beer!
The Czech Republic is one of the most safe countries Europe, in Prague, as in the capital, there is a very large influx of tourists, respectively, and crime is higher, but all it is limited to is the presence of petty thieves - pickpockets. But for the whole holiday we did not encounter a single case.

Also a good sightseeing tour of Prague Castle, where they tell about the history of the Czech Republic, its rulers.
Most of all from the architecture of Prague I was struck by St. Vitus Cathedral.

St. Vitus Cathedral - magnificent building, the most recognizable symbol of Prague. Located in the heart of the district, the temple impresses with its size and grandeur of architecture. This Gothic Catholic cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Prague, it houses the tomb of the kings of Bohemia and the repository of coronation regalia.

You go inside, and your heart shrinks, you start rubbing your shoulders and try to wrap yourself up, hide, despite the 25-degree heat outside, it’s cool inside, it even seemed to me that some kind of otherworldly cold ... and you feel like such a small, defenseless creature in the whole universe, no one can protect you, you are all open and even a little lost ... Then all the feelings return and you start looking at the frescoes, stained glass windows ... They are beautiful. Of all the Gothic cathedrals and temples that I saw, and there are not so few of them, Cologne Cathedral struck me the most, followed by St. Vitus Cathedral. A truly monumental building, amazing and mysterious, the creators of this cathedral achieved the desired effect, the impressions of visiting it will remain for a lifetime.

Unfortunately, we only had 8 days and we didn’t have time for field trips, since a couple more days were allocated for a trip to friends in Olomouc. The city, which is over 700 years old, stands on the banks of the Morava River. No wonder they say that Olomouc is the second Prague, only quieter and calmer. This town left only positive emotions, although we just walked around its center, looked at the Town Hall, visited the Upper Square, which is decorated with a reference plague column - the Column of the Holy Trinity. There are a lot of fountains in the city, which gives it a certain romantic color.
Recently visited a couple shopping centers, things are much cheaper here than in Prague itself.

The capital of the Czech Republic is famous for its zoo. This is one of the largest zoos in Europe, with an area of at least 60 hectares. That's where we went. Sat on scheduled bus, the final stop, which is the Zoo, bought a ticket at the box office and set off on an exciting journey through the kingdom of flora and fauna. There are both closed and open pavilions. I liked the Indonesian Jungle pavilion the most. The atmosphere of the jungle is completely recreated there, stuffiness, high humidity, lush vegetation, monkeys of various sizes scurry back and forth along the vines. The zoo breeds rare and endangered species, there are also long-livers. On the upper tier there is an ornithological corner where you can admire various types of birds, as well as relax in the shade, sitting on a bench and listen to their singing. Also on the territory of the zoo there are playgrounds, cafes and snack bars, cable car, souvenir shops. Near the cafe, ducks walk around the territory, which are not at all afraid of people and cause a lot of emotions in children.

Also in Prague there is one of the largest water parks in Europe, they go there free buses by time until late. We bought tickets for the whole day with a visit to the spa. As for the spa, you should immediately warn you, there are no gender differences in the baths in the Czech Republic, they are all common, which can shock the ignorant, before entering the spa you are asked to take off your swimwear and given towels, then you go to the steam rooms, and there are not many of them, different temperature, humidity, as well as a jacuzzi and a swimming pool. On the territory of the water park there are many pools of different temperatures and depths, children's with mushrooms, there are outdoors where there are sun loungers and you can sunbathe, as well as an imitation of the ocean shore, with sand and waves, and, of course, slides, I swept all. We loved the water park!

There is also Dino Park… also an unusual place that can be visited combined with shopping… With the help of this unique park you will be transported to prehistoric times. Here are exhibits of animals of the Mesozoic era in their natural size, in the natural habitat that prevailed on Earth millions of years ago. All dinosaur models are voiced and many of them can move. What spring month to choose for a trip?

The Czech capital in March is transformed literally before our eyes. In every moment you can feel the breath of spring. The gray gloom of winter is a thing of the past and the world around you is filled with new colors every day. In the first spring month in the capital of the Czech Republic, the weather is often clear and quite warm. The earth begins to slowly warm up and the sonorous singing of birds is increasingly heard. Green grass on city lawns has long surprised no one. In spring, nature in Prague does not just come alive. It's like she's being born again. The air is filled with the aromas of herbs, flowering rhododendrons and sakura, and parks and squares are simply immersed in this unearthly beauty. In March, it is still quite cool, but during the day the temperature rises noticeably. The air in Prague in March during the day warms up to an average of 5-10 degrees above zero. Although it is not uncommon this month and seemingly strange for tourists, warming up to 20 degrees Celsius! Going outside on a sunny morning, do not be naive to think that such weather will last all day. The city is gradually preparing for the opening of a new tourist season. Tourists should dress according to the weather: take an umbrella, wear shoes that are comfortable for walking (it’s better to forget about heels and “stiletto heels”, since in the historical center of Prague the pavement is paved with cobblestones) and go! The weather in March is capricious, and the sun can easily be replaced by clouds or fleeting rain. There is a lot of rain this month, but at night there is still a slight frost. It will not be superfluous to take warm clothes with you.

At this time of the year, you can fully enjoy the unique beauty of Prague, as if waking up from a dream, and become a member of one of the walking tours of the ancient city. And it is not so important whether it will be a trip to the world of Prague Castle or the Old Town, a guided walk through the evening capital full of secrets and mysticism, or an acquaintance with Vysehrad. The main thing is what feelings and emotions you will visit from the contemplation of this beauty, illuminated by nature waking up from sleep.

Do not forget that the undeniable advantage of the March holiday is also a fairly low price. The high season is still ahead, which means that the cost of the tour will be significantly lower than, say, in May or July. Thanks to this, you can either pay less for the tour than at the height of the tourist season, or, as seasoned travelers do, for the same money as in summer, get more excursions or choose a more comfortable hotel to stay.

To the spring atmosphere of a fabulously beautiful city, you can add emotions from a number of interesting events and activities that take place in Prague in the spring of 2015.

On March 1, the famous Matejska Fair begins its work at the Prague-Holešovice Exhibition Center. Every spring, the most popular Czech fair gives its guests a lot of joy, fun and mountains of gingerbread hearts. The most daring can ride the rollercoaster or see Prague from the 35-meter height of the ferris wheel.

The rest - to wait out the adrenaline rides next to the tents with snacks, oriental sweets and toys. Venue: Výstaviště Holesovice. 170 00 Praha-Praha 7.

March 14 at the Prague O2 Arena will host a concert by PAUL SIMON & STING. These two talented musicians will perform in Prague as part of their world tour. The O2 Arena is located at Ocelarska 460/2, Prague 9.

On March 21, Prague's Easter fairs start at the most famous squares in Prague, Old Town and Wenceslas. They will last three weeks. At the fairs, you can see and buy the creations of local artists and craftsmen, wooden toys, glassware, metal products, lace embroidery, dolls in traditional Czech costumes and, of course, colorful hand-painted Easter eggs.

Here you will also be offered hot sausages, an appetizing piece of a huge ham cooked on a skewer in front of you, a glass of Czech beer or a glass of hot wine. The kids are waiting for a sweet trdelnik.

Throughout the spring, the Municipal House near the Powder Tower will host an exhibition dedicated to European and Czech Art Nouveau. The exhibition will introduce you to works of art created at the turn of the 19th - 20th centuries. These are items from the collection of the Prague Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts, as well as amazing works from the famous World Exhibition in Paris, held in 1900. Visiting the exhibition, you will certainly admire the Municipal House itself, which is rightfully considered the pearl of Art Nouveau architecture.

Prague in March is also a great opportunity to test your fitness. On March 28, spring competitions will be held here, opening the running season. Those who wish can take part in the fastest half marathon in the Czech Republic, which will run through the historic streets of Prague.

The race begins not far from the "Jewish City". The route passes through the picturesque streets, past the main attractions of the city. Athletes from 55 countries will run across the Charles Bridge and along the banks of the Vltava. Musical accompaniment will support the participants on separate segments of the distance. Both single participants and relay teams can take part in the race. Therefore, take your family, friends, colleagues with you and you are guaranteed a lot of pleasant emotions!

Spring is the season for prestigious film festivals in Prague. From March 2 to March 11, 2015, the largest international film festival "One World" will be held in Prague for the 16th time. It is dedicated to human rights. Every year it is visited by over 100 thousand spectators. At the end of the show, the festival moves to other cities.

Fans of auteur cinema and the animation genre will be able to visit another film festival - the Febiofest festival. It will take place from 19 to 27 March. Febiofest has grown significantly in recent years and has become one of the largest festivals in the Czech Republic.

And already in April, from the 9th to the 16th, Dnů evropského filmu will show interesting works, often inaccessible to the Russian audience. This is a kind of platform for the exchange of experience and their own opinions, when the audience can discuss the topics and problems of the presented films with representatives of the cinema.

April is the month when it becomes extraordinarily beautiful in Prague. Probably, many who were in the Czech capital at that time will agree that it is difficult to imagine the best time of the year to visit Prague. April in Prague is a real spring! Cherry blossoms and lilacs are fragrant, tulips have already blossomed. The beauty!

The second month of spring indulges Praguers and tourists with pleasant warm weather. During the day, the moody thermometer usually ranges from 7 ° C to 15 ° C. But at night it is still cool, but some days can please you with almost summer warmth. You can walk and walk around Prague, enjoying its unique beauty and basking in the spring sun. On dry, clear days, you can wander around Prague from dawn to dusk. After watching a performance on the Old Town Tower, climb up to its observation deck to take in the view of the "Golden City" from above. The viewer will see only what the actors want to show him. Spectacular play of shadow and light, pantomime and acrobatics, music and dance, colorful costumes and original tricks. But the most important thing is that to understand the plot you do not need to know any language of the world. The complete absence of words creates a special magical atmosphere on the stage and does not cause tourists to feel discomfort from not knowing the language.

On April 30, Czechs, like many other Europeans, celebrate the end of the winter cold and welcome spring. True, this is rather strange, because spring has already begun for them. On this day, the Night of the Witches or Pálení čarodźjnic festival takes place throughout the Czech Republic.

On May 2 and 3, Prague hosts a major sporting event - Volkswagen Marathon Weekend 2015. The start and finish of the prestigious marathon will take place on the Old Town Square. Runners from all over the world will be supported throughout the distance not only by citizens of Prague and guests of the capital, but also by more than 20 musical groups.

In addition to the main race, there are many more interesting things. For example, the Maraton Music Festival, the Sport Expo or a short family mini-marathon. To become an official participant of the marathon, it is not enough to come to Prague for May. Early registration is required as the number of participants is strictly limited.

On May 8, another holiday is celebrated in Prague - the Day of Liberation from Fascism. True, May 9 is considered the date of release, but the Czech Republic decided to postpone the celebration for a day, as in the rest of Europe.

From May 1 to May 17, the Ice Hockey Championship will be held in the Czech Republic. At the preliminary stage, the teams are divided into two groups and will play in Prague and Ostrava. And the main battles will already take place in mid-May in the Czech capital.

If you prefer beer to sports, then visit the Czech Beer Festival. It will be held in Prague from 7 to 23 May 2015. Venue - Letna Park in Prague 7. This is truly the largest gastronomic event not only in Prague, but throughout the Czech Republic. In special tents and in the open air, you can taste about 100 varieties of Czech beer from large companies, brewing groups and small breweries. Of course, everything is thought out at the festival. There will be beer, and different goodies, and live music.

An amazing show awaits Prague residents and guests of the capital on May 15. On this day, John of Nepomuk, one of the patrons of Prague and Bohemia, is honored in Prague. The main action will unfold at Charles Bridge: a light show, music, a regatta of a flotilla of historical ships and colorful fireworks.

As part of their 30th anniversary celebrations, Swedish pop-rock duo Roxette are performing at the O2 Arena. You will hear the hits of the group that have already become legendary. Among them, "Neverending Love", "It Must Have Been Love", "Listen To Your Heart" and many others.

If you prefer rock, something heavier, then go to Def Leppard on May 23rd. The British band will rock heavy metal in the same arena.

In the last days of May, the Royal Gardens of Prague Castle invite everyone to the Food Festival. Prague in May invites you to test the culinary skills of the best chefs of restaurants in the Czech Republic and taste local and international cuisine. In addition, sip a glass or two of Moravian wine or Czech beer. This festival can be safely attended by the whole family. For the kids there will be a playground not only with entertainment, but also with the opportunity to cook something delicious.

This is not all entertainment in Prague for March, April and May. Romantic walks around charming Prague can be supplemented with breathtaking bus tours to ancient Czech cities and castles or a voyage to one of the European cities, say, Dresden, Munich, Nuremberg or, for example, Vienna. Choose a time, take your family and friends and come book a tour. And we will select the best program for you!

The weather in Prague is much more familiar to our tourists. Compared to Greece or Egypt, the weather here is almost native. Only winters are warmer and drier.

In summer, from May to August, it can be very hot. But this is compensated by occasional downpours. In winter and autumn, on the contrary, there is little rain.

The weather is very changeable. In the morning, the bright sun can shine, and in the middle of the day a cold wind suddenly blows up or it starts to rain. In the summer, never walk around Prague without a windbreaker, or at least take it with you.

December (Prosinec - the time of Christmas carols). The temperature fluctuates around 0 °C. Rain, occasional snow. It is on the New Year, as luck would have it, that it rains more often than it snows.

January (Leden - "icy"). The coldest month. The average temperature is -3 °C. Chilly. But discounts in stores after the Christmas holidays can warm up well.

February (Únor - "to dive", ice floes melt and dive). The temperature in the area is -1 °C. Little sun. Rain and snow are very rare. This month is best in the ski resorts of the Czech Republic.

March (Březen - “birch”, birches begin to bloom). Finally spring! +5 °C, sunny days. The first flowers and leaves on the trees.

April (Duben - “oak”, leaves bloom on oaks). +9°C. More and more flowers emit a divine fragrance, birds sing. But the weather can be deceiving! Be sure to bring warm clothes with you this month.

May (Květen - the month of "flowering"). This month is optimal for visiting Prague. Everything is blooming, the weather is warm, but not hot. The Prague parks are simply grace. It's good to ride a river bus and look at the flowering banks. Average temperature +15 °C.

June (Červen - "red"). The first fruits begin to ripen (blush). +18°C. Warm and good. But in good weather there are exceptions. In the form of sudden torrential downpours or cold nights.

July (Červenec - "little June"). Hot month. Temperature above +20 °C. Often stuffy and hot. Only torrential downpours save us. For visiting palaces and museums, and especially for hiking in the Prague hills, this is not the best month.

August (Srpen - "sickle", the harvest began). Slightly less hot than in July. +18 °C on average. At the end of the month it often rains with thunderstorms. When going on a trip, do not forget to take an umbrella with you. There are good sales going on in the stores.

September (Září - "warm"). Autumn in Prague is truly golden. The golden roofs of the palaces glow and the trees begin to turn yellow. Bright sun, but not as hot as in summer. Temperature +15 °C. Heavy rains are possible but rare.

October (Říjen - "deer"). Very changeable weather. The average temperature is +9 °C, but there can be warm days of +15 °C and cold days of +5 °C. It rains often, but they are no longer torrential. This month is the best time to visit the palaces and museums of Prague.

When is the best time to go to Prague? I often hear this question from my tourists. In my opinion, Prague is good at any time of the year, good and interesting in its own way. Take a look at how I perceive the Prague seasons.

Spring Summer

May is chestnut season. Huge trees stand like kings, lavishly decorated with large, pyramidal inflorescences.

Come to Kampa, here in the park under the Charles Bridge, young people relax on fresh lawns. Somewhere a guitar is playing, someone is playing with a ball, someone is practicing juggling. Chestnuts lead us from Kampa to Streltsy Island. The road goes through the Legia Bridge. From the bridge you can easily touch the white flowers.

And we also have red chestnuts, admire them on Karmelitskaya Street, right under the Baroque Church of the Virgin Mary the Conqueror.

Summer is coming into its own. June. The flowering of the trees is almost over. On a warm evening we walk along Parisskaya.

Luxurious showcases of boutiques and no less luxurious facades of buildings. But something is now more important than luxury, something makes you dizzy, making you forget about everything. This is the scent of linden - the scent of Prague. Linden is a symbol of the Czech Republic, its leaves and inflorescences are on banknotes of the Czech crown, on the badges of officers of the Czech army. Wenceslas Square, Na Przykopy Street - these are the addresses of evening romance, the addresses of a meeting with a fragrant linden tree.

Hot July. I want shade and coolness. We are in the French park of Český Krumlov castle.

Baroque order, perfectly trimmed living border, low boxwood, medium forms yew and huge green walls of elm. There are four trees in the center of the park under the fountains. The dark brown crown creates the perfect shadow, let's hurry there. At last we are cool, but where have the brown leaves gone - a green curtain over us! Wonders! This is a magical beech tree, the outer side of its leaf is red-brown, and the inner side is green. A beautiful, light-loving tree with a spreading crown. A tree that loves to play a trick on us.

Autumn winter

September - and again chestnut. Children come home with pockets full of his fruits. I envy them a little, I also want to walk around the park looking for chestnuts, admiring their color. Harvest fruits that are cool and slightly damp to the touch. I can not resist, I raise one, it will be with me in memory of the September sunny days.

October. For the second month now, autumn has been playing with colors, blooming the Prague gardens in their favorite colors. Yellow, brown, dark brown and purplish red. We're going to look at the wild vineyard. Its green leaves all summer merged into a common background, and now, the hour has come! Now you will not confuse the vineyard with anything, with bated breath people look at the walls overgrown with vines - purple walls!

Walls of autumn Prague. Gardens under the Prague Castle, Strahovsky Monastery, Uvoz. The leaves will not last long, you need to catch this moment to remember the purple leaves all the white winter.

Winter in Prague. Prague in winter is completely different. Not covered by the greenery of gardens and squares, it is all open to the eye. From Petrzhinsky Hill or from Hradchanskaya Square, they look at her as a naked beauty. She has no flaw, we learned about it when the leaves fell. A luxurious dress has been thrown off, but she has not become worse, she is only a little chilly. Frozen tourists dream of summer. Stupid, under the dense foliage you will not see all the delights of the beauty of Prague.

Well, if you're lucky and snow falls, the city will turn into a real one. winter fairy tale. Taking home photographs of snowy Prague is like a gift, like a win.

And spring again...

"Golden rain" is the name of forsythia in the Czech Republic. March can be considered as a winter month. Here the frost can turn up and pamper the snow, but spring is already on the threshold. It is felt in the air, forsythia will remind us of this. The thin, bare twigs of the bush will suddenly light up with yellow lights, and the golden rain will fly. Is there really so much of it in the city, yellow bushes at every turn, spring declares itself at the top of its voice. Then the flowers will fly around, and the green leaves of the forsythia will not stand out in any way among the usual urban vegetation. But this is only for the time being, until a year later the "golden rain" comes again.

Spring in the Czech Republic starts early. Everything is in bloom! It is no longer cold, but there is still no exhausting summer heat, there are few tourists. Sights can be seen without fuss and calmly photographed.

Spring in the Czech Republic starts early. Already in mid-March, some plants bloom, and soon everything around is blooming! Lilacs and beautiful sakura are blooming, bird cherry is fragrant, luxurious magnolias, bright tulips, jasmine are blooming. Majestic cathedrals, castles and neat multi-colored houses look more cheerful against the backdrop of reviving greenery. The day is coming, getting brighter and warmer.

Types of spring holidays in the Czech Republic

At the beginning of spring, a calm atmosphere is preserved. In March, prices for tours and hotels are still low. Skiers have the last opportunity to ride on the Czech peaks. Not all attractions are open, but those that are available can be visited without fuss and calmly photographed.

In April, the massive wedding season begins, ancient castles invite newlyweds to hold ceremonies in a romantic setting.

The time of spring holidays begins with Maslenitsa (Masopust). In the second half of April throughout the Czech Republic (Pálení čarodějnic). Effigies of witches are symbolically thrown into the flames to finally drive away the cold. Czech Easter markets open from mid-March. They end with a general and large-scale celebration.
