The new tallest waterslide in the world. The most dangerous water slides in the world The coolest water slides

Summer is sunny days, water procedures and fun. Families all over the world are moving to water parks to bring all three of these together and make the experience safer. Whether it's regular pools or extreme water slides, water rides never get boring. The International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) reports that in the United States alone, such parks generate more than $50 billion annually and provide employment for more than 2.3 million people.

While all water parks strive to provide a family-friendly atmosphere, there is no doubt that these wonderful summer destinations provide a variety of attractions to satisfy even the most seasoned thrill-seekers. However, extreme riding has been known to cause injury or even death. This list is sure to intensify your thirst for water adventures, as well as give you relief from the high temperatures and scorching sun of the summer season.

Standing at a staggering 51.4 meters tall, the dangerous Guinness World Record holder is the Verruckt waterslide, which means “insane” or “crazy” in German. The waterslide, located at the Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City, Kansas, was due to open in late 2012. But due to problems that arose during the construction process, the slide was opened for visitors at the end of July 2014. It was designed by water park co-owner Jeff Henry in such a way that three people sitting in a boat can simultaneously experience the pleasure of falling down from a height of a 17-story building at a speed of up to 100 kilometers per hour. This spectacular slide of Niagara Falls and the Statue of Liberty (not counting the base on which it is installed). The controversial design involves taking hundreds of steps to reach the top.

In a horrific incident in August 2016, Caleb Schwab, son of Republican State Representative Scott Schwab, suffered a "fatal neck injury" during a convention with Verruckt and died on the spot. His death shocked the community and led to the slide being (still being) planned to be demolished. The Associated Press says that Kansas is "notorious for its too lenient regulation of amusement parks." It seems that the slide was too extreme, which led to disaster.

Located at Action Park in Vernon, New Jersey, this is the longest waterslide in the world at 602 meters! Nameless water slide consists of 20 sections, each 30 meters long. The main material of which the slide is made is polyvinyl chloride, which is also used to make inflatable castles in the air, which children love so much. As you guessed, this slide is inflatable. It takes 2 hours to fill it with air, and it takes about 3,800 liters of water per hour to operate, but it can take 90 seconds to leave it.

In 2015, the slide was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the "longest water slide", but it was not opened to the public. The slide has no weight limits, so it is not known how dangerous it can be. Another factor is the "long process" of state certification. However, a select few employees were allowed to slide down the record-breaking slide.

It's not just a slide, it's an American waterslide! Located at the Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana, the Mammoth Ride is comprised of multiple slides and a conveyor belt, allowing riders to experience the experience of riding a roller coaster, but in the water. The slide, which opened in May 2012, outpaced its record-breaking predecessor, Wildebeest Antelope, which is located in the same water park. Mammoth's unprecedented twists, turns and climbs total 537 meters in length.

The roller coaster is designed for rafts that can accommodate up to six people seated facing inward, allowing families to enjoy the extreme fun together. Brave conquerors of the Mammoth will fall down six times while moving down the hill. The winding slide route descending from which you can see the rest of the Holiday World & Splashin' Safari park can be the highlight for those who are looking for thrills.

The MASSIV slide at Galveston Island's Schlitterbahn water park deserves its name. The fall-defying attraction, located in Galveston, Texas, soars 24.9 meters into the sky and was created to mark the park's tenth anniversary. The roller coaster consists of several climbs and a final triple drop at the end. The slide has been certified by Guinness World Records as "The World's Tallest Waterslide".

Although thrill-seekers simply enjoy the slide, it took scientific knowledge to create it. Schlitterbahn Lead Designer Emily Colombo said the balance of "gravity, ride dynamics and speed" is vital to a successful slide. You will definitely like the water one due to the fact that the speed and dynamics of driving on it change. The general manager of the park commented that it is this versatility that "we are always looking for in our rides".

Providing some respite for thrill-seekers, as well as a haven for those looking to unwind, the "lazy river" at Bsr Cable Park in Waco, Texas, simply flows 1 mile in length. This gave her the right to be called the longest "lazy river" in the world. On the "lazy river" there are parts that are well lit by the sun, and there are those that are in the shade, which allows to satisfy the tastes of all visitors.

While it doesn't look much different from other lazy rivers, what it lacks in uniqueness it makes up for in size. The river is suitable for adults and children and is guaranteed to be a refreshing summer getaway, especially considering the crazy high temperatures Texas experiences during the summer season.

5. The world's largest outdoor wave pool

Photo: Siam Park City

The first non-US candidate on our list is Siam Park City (a water park, not a city) in Bangkok's Khan Na Yao district, Thailand. This is not only the largest water park in Asia, but according to the Guinness World Records, it is also home to the largest wave pool in the world. The pool measures an astounding 13,600 square meters and is designed for young children and adult thrill seekers. Waves up to 1.5 meters high can be generated in the pool, but the staff carefully monitors that it does not exceed 60 centimeters to ensure the safety of all visitors.

Despite the safety measures being taken, wave pools still pose a threat, especially to children. When children fall into such a pool at a depth higher than their height, the constant flow of water and its unevenness create ideal conditions for drowning. But for most, this wave pool can be the perfect compromise between the calm waters of a "lazy river" and the fast-paced rapids of the waterslides.

4. The world's largest indoor wave pool

Photo: Vr1

Fast-forward across the world back to the West Edmonton Mall in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, which has a water park with the world's largest indoor wave pool called Blue Thunder. The pool has four active wave bays, each with panels equipped with a 1500 horsepower hydraulic device. There are two additional wave bays that have been shut down due to people getting injured as a result of the excessive wave intensity! With all the panels turned on, the waves were too high and strong for even the most experienced swimmers.

Given the almost endless waves above the swimmer's head, getting out is quite difficult. Thus, waves from 1.5 to 1.8 meters are generated in Blue Thunder today using only internal bays. The pool can hold a whopping 12.3 million liters of water. After hours, the pool is also often used for private surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding and other similar sports. Waves for this make more intense.

What is located in Erding, Germany, reaches a length of 356.3 m and provides great pleasure? Of course, the Magic-Eye slide (Magic Eye) in the Galaxy Erding water park. This slide is the longest indoor slide in the world, certified by Guinness World Records in November 2010. None of the newly built slides could surpass the legendary Magic-Eye. The waterslide opened in May 2007 and was built by Klarer Freizeitanlagen AG of Switzerland, a world-renowned leader in waterslide construction.

Magic-Eye's record length is complemented by its 22-meter height. The interior design of the slide is distinguished by its sophistication, due to the continuous luminous lines that create an unrivaled impression during the descent. Some visitors may be overwhelmed by this design due to the stroboscopic effect, which is likely to be a potential hazard for those who suffer from epilepsy and decide to slide down the slide.

2. The largest outdoor water park in the United States

Photo: Wisconsin Dells

Noah's Ark Water Park in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin is the largest outdoor water park in the United States with a total area of 283,279 square meters. Although there are no record-breaking slides in the park, in their own opinion, all of its 51 rides make Noah's Ark Water Park a real jewel in the crown of Wisconsin Dells, which has received the title of "water park capital of the world." Despite the small population of the city, it has as many as 28 water parks, but Noah's Ark Water Park is undoubtedly the main one.

Thrill-seekers can enjoy rides that involve a near-vertical fall where the floor slides out from under their feet, or 400-meter waterslides where unexpected twists and turns await. On the other end of the spectrum, those who prefer a more relaxed experience at Noah's Ark Water Park can enjoy swimming in the "lazy river" or swimming in the wave pool, which turns them on and off every ten minutes.

Some of the more extreme rides don't work properly. For example, it's not uncommon for riders to get stuck on the Scorpion slide, where they actually make a loop (like on a roller coaster). This demonstrates how risky water sports can be. While Wisconsin's weather ranges from hot in summer to cold in winter, the Wisconsin Dells also has plenty of indoor water parks that cater to the desires of extreme water enthusiasts all year round.

Completing the list, we return to Germany to the large water park Tropical Islands Resort, located in the city of Krausnick, southeast of the capital, Berlin. This stunning indoor water park covers an area of 64,750 meters and can accommodate up to 6,000 guests at any given time.

The luxurious Tropical Islands Resort is a place where people of all ages can relax, there are places to just splash around, as well as water slides for young people, big attractions and a Bali-inspired lagoon, ideal for adults who are looking for adventure and want to relax. Tropical Islands Water Park is climate controlled and covered with a glass roof, allowing everyone to enjoy the sunshine regardless of the annual temperature difference outside the window.

Its height was 41 meters.

Schlitterbahn Water Park was opened last year. The steepest slide, Verrückt, reaches 52 meters in height, which is half a meter higher than the Statue of Liberty. The spiral climb takes professional risk-takers to the very top, where they break into teams of 4, sit on rubber rafts and rush down at a speed of 120 km / h.

Let's take a closer look at it...

"Verrückt" in German means "crazy" - in fact, only a crazy extreme and thrill-seeker will dare to ride the highest and fastest water slide.

The water slide "Verrückt" is officially recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the highest in the world: its height is 51.38 m

Photo 3.

The Verrückt Meg-a-Blaster is a design triumph of insane proportions by Jeff Henry, co-owner and "evil genius" of Schlitterbahn Waterparks. Henry decided he wanted to build a record-breaking slide, which resulted in the creation of "Verrückt".

Photo 4.

The Verrückt has 4 people descending in parallel and, as Henry remarked, "It's a lot more fun to have someone yelling next to your ear." It all starts with a frightening fall from a 17-story height and continues with a small rise. And this is more than 180 meters of wet extreme. After the initial drop, which is steeper than any ski run, you reach a second five-story climb with new water technology.

Photo 5.

The massive tower around which you will ascend to dizzying heights is made from railroad tank cars cut and welded together. The builders reuse the material to build the "Verrückt". The attraction differs from the Kilimanjaro in that it will be a raft ride and the body will not touch the surface. Although, of course, a raft is not a very comfortable transport when you fly 50 sheer meters down.

Photo 6.

Verrückt is taller than Niagara Falls, the Statue of Liberty (from sandals to torch) and the Tower of London. It will not only be the highest slide in the world, but also the steepest and fastest. Henry says that “Verrückt will change the industry. The biggest challenge will be to find extreme people who will dare to go down.” If you're brave enough, visit Kansas City and challenge yourself!

Scorpion Tail (Wisconsin)

Located right in the middle of the state, 55 miles north of Madison. The height of the slide is about the same as that of a ten-story building. The length of the descent is 122 meters, but the maximum acceleration speed is small - only 15 kilometers per hour.

Leap of Faith (Bahamas)

The hill is a copy of the Mayan temple. The main highlight of this attraction is that its pipe passes through the pool with swimming sharks. So when descending through an 18-meter tunnel, one can only hope for the strength of its walls.

Water parks are incredibly popular these days. This is a place where you can relax with a cheerful company, family, couple and so on. Water parks offer a huge variety of entertainment, it can be walking parks, beaches, wave pools, saunas, jacuzzis, cafes, and, of course, something without which there is no point in any water park - slides. Hills can be different. Consider some types of slides that are most often found in the water park.

Of course, almost none of the open and closed water parks can do without spiral slides. Usually the length of such a slide can be from 40 to 150 meters, this is in a medium-sized water park. Such slides are ideal for any visitor to the water park, both for children and adults. That is why such slides are very common. Usually on such slides it is necessary to ride lying down with crossed arms.

The hill called " Magic carpet"is a small slide, usually no longer than 40 meters. Such a slide is straight and wide. On this slide, a small speed develops. That is why this slide is considered one of the safest, suitable for both adults and children. In addition, several people can ride this slide at the same time, however, subject to all safety standards.

Slides " Kamikaze"- this is a rather steep slide, which implies a very steep descent, sometimes the descent occurs with cascades. Usually the length of such a slide can reach 80 meters.

A hill called " Rainbow» can be found in every Russian water park. This slide is colorful, decorated in the form of a rainbow, it is a smooth slide, with gentle cascades, the speed on such a slide is moderate. The length of such a slide can reach 40 meters. That is why not only one person can be allowed to descend, but also a whole company that can slide at the same time.

Slide " Fanton” is about 70 meters long slide, which contributes to the development of high speed during the descent. Slide "High Fanton" - this is the same slide, with a longer length and height, about 80 meters. Such a slide is usually very steep and allows you to gain very high speed. "Fanton-pipe" is a closed steep slide from which you jump right into the pool, when the descent takes place in complete darkness.

The hill called " twister» is considered one of the most popular slides in the world. The shape of such a slide is helical, people sliding down on it get incredible pleasure. The length of such a slide is approximately 70 meters.

Often on such slides you can ride at once with a company on the same circle. For safety reasons, the heaviest person should ride in front.

There are slides called big hole". Such slides usually offer guests an exciting journey, the length of such a slide can be 200 meters. The descent on such a slide takes place on an inflatable boat. For safety reasons, you must hold on to the handrails very tightly.

There is a huge variety of slides that are presented in water parks. There are unique slides that can only be presented in one water park, and nowhere else in the world. Each water park tries to be original and therefore more and more new slides appear.

Each vacationer in his own way represents water entertainment. For some, just splashing in a pool of clean water is enough. Well, there are also extreme people who, for complete happiness, definitely need the highest water slide in the world. Every year there are more and more such entertainments in the world and the slides are getting higher. The main part of such entertainment is located overseas, but in Europe there are several attractions that can be safely attributed to the highest water slides.

Spain, VertiGo attraction

In 2013, the world's tallest capsule coaster opened in Benidorm, Spain. The height of this slide is 33 meters, but there is also a lower one nearby - for those who are afraid to immediately climb to such a height. The first daredevils who dared to try such entertainment simply took their breath away from the sensations. Some shouted, others crossed themselves, others simply closed their eyes so as not to see everything that was happening. This is not surprising, because the speed with which a person rushes down a special capsule is about 100 km / h.

On the opening day of the slide, a large number of people gathered in the pool who wanted to see the faces of those who dared such an adventure. Inside the capsule, under the feet of a person, there is a special hatch that opens at the signal of the attraction worker. A moment - and the extreme is already flying down, and the speed of the fall is constantly increasing. Before letting tourists on the slide, it was tested by lifeguards working in this water park.

United Arab Emirates, Dubai, Jumeirah Sceirah

The Middle East also did not want to lag behind, and a capsule water slide was built in the Emirates, which is in no way inferior to the Spanish attraction. After the vacationer climbs to a height of 33 meters, he will face a rapid descent along the plastic chute at great speed. After the initial acceleration, it seems to the tourist that everything will go smoothly, but somewhere in the middle of the way, he suddenly falls down, almost in free fall. It is this section of the slide that is the most attractive for thrill-seekers.

For the entire period of operation of this attraction, no accidents were recorded on this slide (except, of course, the loss of some bathing accessories on the way down).

Brazil, Fortaleza, Insano waterslide

This attraction is not only the highest water slide in the world, but also the record holder of the Guinness Book of Records. It is located in the Beach Park water park, near the Brazilian city of Fortaleza. Her name Insano means insane in translation, and one cannot but agree with this. The height of this slide is equal to the height of a 14-story building (41 meters). Not only is it very high, the descent along it is almost vertical, which further adds to the extreme for tourists. For those 5 seconds that the descent lasts, a person develops a speed of up to 105 km / h, and this is the speed of a rushing car.

After a successful descent, the vacationer has the opportunity to watch a video that captures his adventure, and even take the recording with him as a keepsake. These scenes can be viewed over and over again. True, access to such entertainment is not available to everyone. Entrance to the attraction is strictly prohibited for pregnant women, children whose height has not reached 140 cm and people with disorders of the cardiovascular system.

Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, Mount Kilimanjaro

This water slide fully justifies its name (Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa). Those who wish to ride from such a mountain are invited to overcome 50 meters in 5 seconds. The maximum speed that is reached during the descent is about 90 km / h. The attraction staff keep their statistics, and claim that one in twenty visitors does not dare to overcome this path and descends back. Not everyone has the courage to dare such a risky act.

United States, Kansas City, Verruckt

The tallest waterslide in the world has recently opened in the US at the Schlitterbahn water park. The height of this attraction is almost 52 meters. She surpassed both the Niagara Falls and the Statue of Liberty in height, although there are not so many desperate daredevils who are ready to descend from such a height.

A spiral climb, consisting of 264 steps, leads to the very top of the hill, where those who want to ride are seated in four-seater rubber rafts and tied tightly to them. On the first tests of this attraction, the engineers could not make sure that the sandbags (they were tested) did not come off the slide and did not rise into the air. For greater safety, the chute itself, along which the descent takes place, is fenced with a net. This is really necessary, because the speed with which the daredevil descends is approximately 120 km / h.

The world's tallest waterslide is currently closed. Unfortunately, a child recently died on this attraction. All the details of this incident are not yet fully known, but there are rumors that he flew out of the front seat and broke his neck on the top rail of the gutter. There is no official version yet, but the mere fact that a 10-year-old teenager was allowed to enter this attraction is already a case under jurisdiction. The fact is that the entrance to this hill is allowed only from the age of 14.

Whether this water slide will open again or not is still unknown, but some hotheads of individual extreme sportsmen will cool this incident a little. After all, for a good rest it is not at all necessary to climb to such a height and risk your life.
