Bali wild beaches. Where are the best beaches in Bali? General description of the beaches

A cozy beach, a cocktail with a straw, a boundless sea blue, golden sand. Visually evaluating the beach by parameters, we determine for ourselves:

  • nice beach, but waves;
  • great beach but shallow water;
  • the sea and the beach are wonderful, but there are a lot of people or the location is inconvenient;
  • the beach is dirty, but the sea is good, etc.

The beaches of Bali are different. To have an idea about the beach areas and not be disappointed when planning a vacation, let's get to know the beaches better. See the map of Bali beaches:

Beach Southwest

White sand beaches in Bali are a priority for the western and southern territories.

Long, noisy, crowded Kuta beach with developed infrastructure. With a sandy bottom, not very clean. There is budget housing and guesthouses. Stormy life at night attracts young people. Mecca of surfers, several surf schools are designed for Russians.

The long and fashionable Legian beach continues the Kuta zone. At low tide it becomes very wide. Good for trekking and running. Housing is more expensive than in Kuta. Not suitable for swimming, only for surfing. The infrastructure is well developed.

The wide and prestigious Seminyak beach begins behind Legian. The waves are high, there are many surfers. Housing is expensive - respectable hotels and villas. There is a rental of beach accessories, surf boards.

A few kilometers of sandy strip - Jimbaran beach. The water is shallow near the shore, the depth begins further. The bottom is good. The tide "narrows" the beach to a thin strip. Along the beach there are a string of 4* and 5* hotels and fish restaurants.

It rightfully takes its place of honor in the list of the most beautiful beaches of the island (Dreamland beach). Fine sand, azure turbulent sea. There are always a lot of surfers here. Delicious food in cozy cafes. Developed infrastructure.

The wide Balangan beach with fine yellowish sand is not crowded. Attractive view of the beach and its "Martian land" along the coastline from a nearby cliff. Everywhere there are cafes and sun loungers. Entering the water in shoes, it is difficult to swim. But the photos of the beach are bright and surfers love the beach.

Small and calm Padang Padang beach. Once it was a secret beach, only the locals knew about it. Now popular. The coast is good and the waters are clear. There are few waves, which is unusual for the island of Bali. During peak season it is crowded. There are no sun loungers, you can only rent umbrellas. There is a modest cafe, tents with beach and bathing accessories. The highlight of the hotel-restaurant Blue Heaven, located at the height of the cliff - "running over the edge of the pool." The beach is good for families.

Bingin beach is suitable for surfing, nature lovers and romantic photo shoots. The bottom is sandy, waves and a lot of foam. There are several hotels with respectable infinity pools.

White Pandawa beach. Not crowded, suitable for swimming and sunbathing, but there are no hotels here. Extended territory, clear waters of the ocean. There is a walking path with a number of cafes along the beach; kayak rental; massage salon. Natural stalactite caves, acting balinese temple with statues - a piece of the beach ..

White-sand beach Nikko (Nikko beach). Small and long. There is only 1 Grand Nikko hotel on the beach. Relaxing atmosphere, panoramic views of the volcano.

Geger beach is on the list of the best beaches. The ocean is clear, the beach is fine sand. The nearby breakwater and coral reef calm the sea. There are several cafes and entertainment - canoeing, snorkeling, windsurfing. Nearby hotels provide free shuttle service to the beach.

Beaches of Nusa Dua (Nusa Dua beach). There are many five-star hotels on their territory. Not everywhere on the beaches you can stay without being a guest of the hotel. Cleanliness and length, shallow coastal waters. Beach for swimming, windsurfing. At low tide, shallow lagoons form. Suitable for romantics and families. Part of the beach area is the sandy spit of Tanjung Benoa. Attractive walks along the seabed in space suits are organized here.

Perfect Surf

Which beach is better for surfing is difficult to answer. Surfing is the specialty of the island. Canggu beach. Catch a wave here and surfers-gurus, and beginners. The structure of the bottom contributes to the formation of a more powerful and higher wave than in Kuta. Accommodation is available. Some hotels have their own lounge area. Lots of cozy cafes.

Echo beach is a neighbor of Canggu. The border between them is a Balinese temple. There is a bar-cafe. Favorable conditions for surfing.

Uluwatu Beach (also known as Suluban) is hidden between the rocks. It is flooded by the tide. The high wave attracts experienced surfers. The infrastructure is developed and adapted for them. There is a cafe on the cliff with magnificent ocean panoramas.

Southeast coast

Long beach Sanur (Sanur beach). The coast is shallow and the sea is calm. For children - excellent conditions. Expensive coastal hotels, cafes / restaurants. Sanur village has cheap housing. Good snorkeling and diving. Along the coast there is a pedestrian and bicycle path. Romantic pavilions flaunt on the breakwaters. Local attractions include a safari park and a beautiful waterfall. The famous Agung is visible from the beach.

The clean Blue Lagoon beach is suitable for scuba diving. A narrow coastal strip, flooded by the tide. At a height of 2-3 m there is a platform with a cafe, a massage parlor.

Candidasa beach. Calm, black and rocky, not suitable for a beach holiday. The chip of Chandidas is private villas "absolute beach front" with infinity pools and panoramas of the azure ocean. "Beach front" - a villa or hotel where foreign tourists are allowed to rest on the beach. The “absolute” option implies a personal access to the sea.

Beaches in the East and North of Bali

Black sand beaches in Bali are the northern and eastern island territories.

Amed beach - rocky and "black". The sea is calm. Corals and exotic living creatures are found already 5 m from the coastline, so snorkeling here is excellent.

Tulamben beach is chosen by divers. The object for beginners is a sunken ship 30 m from the shore.

White Sand beach is a white-sand strip with black sand-volcanic patches. Sea water is transparent, there are no waves. The beach is not crowded due to its remoteness from the centers of Balinese tourism. There are about a dozen cozy restaurants and cafes that provide their guests with umbrellas, towels, snorkeling equipment, sun loungers free of charge. In the east of the island, this is the only beach suitable for swimming and sunbathing. Picturesque rocks are natural beach border. There is no housing near the beach.

The wide beaches of the north of Bali are united by the name Lovina (Lovina beach). There is a yellow-sandy coast, with black, gray volcanic sand. The ocean is not worried, housing is available. Nice beach for kids. The cafes and restaurants always have fresh seafood. A walk to the dolphins is one of the attractive beach activities. To do this, boats go out to sea from the Lovina pier.

The beaches of northwestern Bali are located near the village of Pemuteran, far from civilization.

Hotels with private beach

"Private Beaches". They can be accessed through the hotel. But, not being a hotel guest, this is problematic. Among the hotels with a private beach is the Samabe resort in Nusa Dua.

Ayana Resort beach and spa has its own pier and an unusual Rock Bar on a rocky shore.

The simple hotel Pondok Vienna Beach and the beach of the same name are located in the village of Bunutan. Leaving the room, walking 15-20 steps along black and white sand you find yourself in the sea. But the price of the room is much more expensive.

secluded beaches

Long and wild beach Nyang Nyang is popular with surfers. You can get to it by going down the stairs from the cliff, passing through tropical thickets, overcoming more than 500 steps. White sand and endless blue-turquoise ocean. In places, the bottom, similar to a lunar landscape, is rocky with notches.

Deserted, almost wild Nyang Nyang beach. In some places the coast is sandy with shells. There is no infrastructure. Suitable for lovers of secluded relaxation, fans of relaxation. Walking and sunbathing are great activities on this beach, but there are no conditions for swimming. Beach for surfers. But they are few and they ride 100 meters from the shore.

secret beaches

Near Jimbaran sheer cliff there is a small secret beach Secret Beach. Rocky bottom and strong waves are at the bottom. From above you can see a mountainous cliff, foamy waves and an azure ocean. Rugged by waves, but photogenic cobblestones are overgrown with moss in many places. romantic place for shooting weddings.

Another "Secret beach". Close to Padang Bai. The snow-white fine sandy Bias Tugal beach will appeal to families with children, divers and fans of green ecotourism.

The beaches of Bali are worth touching the irresistible world of Asian exoticism.

As many already know, the beaches of Bali are for the most part not the places where you can swim, as all South coast Bali is the restless Indian Ocean, which 364 days a year gives surfers who come here big and small waves.

But there are still several beaches suitable for swimming in Bali! So, if you come to Bali to swim, lie on the beach and sunbathe for two weeks, read carefully.

The mapped beaches of Bali are in the application for iphone and ipad, which can be downloaded from the app store or via . You can also find a map of beaches on foursquare at the link in the blog header.

Nusa Dua

Nusa Dua is resort area, which is located in the very south of Bali, about 10 km from Kuta (30 minutes drive). There are several beaches in Nusa Dua and all of them are suitable for swimming, including with children. And although Nusa Dua also has waves, they break far in the ocean and don’t particularly reach the shore, so the water is calm near the shore. But do not forget about the ebb and flow: at low tide it can become too shallow and swimming will be uncomfortable.

(The tides change depending on the phases of the moon, and do not depend on the seasons, so do not listen to other tourists who say - it is always shallow in the morning, you can swim only in the afternoon - this was the case on their arrival, but everything can happen on your arrival be absolutely the opposite, plus the time of the tides shifts every day. There is such a thing as learning how to use it is easy: choose the date and time you are interested in, look at the height of the water, anything less than 1 is low tide (and therefore shallow), anything more than 1.5 is a medium tide and a full tide, in most cases this means that it will be quite deep).

All beach line Nusa Dua is built up with hotels, but the beaches are open, that is, you can come to any beach, however, you will not be allowed to use hotel sunbeds, you will have to use your own towel. On public beaches - such as Geger (Geger Beach) and Mengiat (Mengiat Beach) - there are paid sunbeds and umbrellas. There are also cafes and restaurants on the beaches, in general, a real resort infrastructure. Another very beautiful beach in Nusa Dua is Nikko beach.

If you do not plan to stay in Nusa Dua, then you can always come here to the beach.

Season. The beach season in Nusa Dua is all year round. The surfing season is from December to February.

Distance from Kuta/Seminyak: From Nusa Dua to Kuta about 15 km, and to Seminyak - about 20 km, that is, about 30-40 minutes drive; to the airport only 10 km (20-30 minutes drive). From Canggu about an hour drive.

Accommodation options: Nusa Dua is a territory, and if you are looking for a villa in Nusa Dua, expect to stay at least 10-15 minutes drive to the beach (there are no options with walking distance, otherwise choose a hotel stay).

Jimbaran

Season. The season on the Gili Islands lasts all year round.

Distance from Bali: The most comfortable way to get to the Gili Islands is by speedboat, which departs from the port of Padang Bai. A round-trip ticket with a transfer will cost $55.

Accommodation options: there are many inexpensive private bungalows on Gili from $15 per room and more expensive hotels for every taste. You can book in advance, or you can find it right on the spot.

Lovina and North Bali

Bali has a northern coast, which is washed by the sea instead of the ocean. Therefore, the water there is calm and even, there are no waves at all. There are several small resort villages on this northern coast: Lovina and Pemuteran. Here you can find accommodation right on the first line or within walking distance from the beach. People often come here for a couple of days to relax from the noisy Balinese south.

Of the minuses: here are not the most picturesque beaches, they are quite simple, plus black volcanic sand. While the water may be clear, the dark sand makes it seem less beautiful than the turquoise waters of Bukit. Another minus: these are very small resorts, usually one or two streets and there is not much to do here. There is no nightlife and the number of restaurants is limited. But if you are looking for the most relaxing holiday in Bali, these places will do. Plus, you can explore the island itself from here, as there are no traffic jams in this part of Bali.

On the plus side: there is an opportunity for diving and snorkeling (Pemuteran and Menjangan).

Season. The season lasts all year round.

Distance from Kuta / Seminyak: to the north of Bali to go about 2.5 hours from the south

Accommodation options: there are hotels and inexpensive guesthouses here, you can usually find something right on the spot upon arrival

But what about Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu?

Some will wonder why I still haven't said a word about the two main resorts in Bali - Seminyak and Kutu. All for a reason, these two tourist centers Bali is not particularly famous for its beaches. Therefore, many, having arrived in Bali for the first time and settled somewhere in Seminyak, remain disappointed that the sand on the beaches is not white at all, the water is not blue at all, and the surf wave sometimes rises so big that it’s not only scary to go into the water, but it’s just not even safe, and during the rainy season the beaches become so dirty that one can only guess why Bali is called a paradise island. Yes, and picturesque and nature in these areas is zero, the areas are completely built up with hotels, cafes, villas and other things.

Kuta and Seminyak are places for those who want an active “party” life with restaurants, bars, cafes, beach clubs and more; these are places for those who come to learn surfing, and not wallow on the beach; these are places for those who want to be in the center of everything and are willing to sacrifice the beach and scenic views. So take your pick :)

But on the plus side, Kuta and Seminyak have a central location, from here it is convenient to travel to Canggu and Sanur, Nusa Dua and Bukit.

Bali is Paradise Island, which is part of the Lesser Sunda Islands, owned by the state of Indonesia. His southern part washes the Indian Ocean, and the northern Bali Sea, located right in pacific ocean. You should not draw conclusions about the beach if you are suddenly unlucky with the weather.

General description of the beaches

According to the laws of Indonesia, the beaches in Bali cannot be bought into private ownership, because most of them are public. Only a few prestigious first-line hotels have protected coastal zones where outsiders are not allowed. On the island you can find both crowded and secluded beaches. There are also long sandy strips stretching for several kilometers, and very tiny stretches of the coast, where you can go only at low tide. Some beaches are popular with locals, while others are visited mainly by tourists.

To choose the perfect beach for your vacation, you need to know the following:

  • What is its appearance
  • What is it suitable for

Now let's deal with each of these points.

What do Bali beaches look like?

You can find very different coastlines on the island. I would suggest visiting several beaches to better understand the variety of the island.

But when choosing a specific place to stay, you should pay attention to the following points:

  • sand color
  • wave height
  • Cleanliness
  • Infrastructure

So, here are the main differences between the beaches, in terms of their appearance.

Sand

The beaches of the island do not always correspond to the tourist's ideas of a tropical paradise. The sand here is of different colors:

  • White
  • yellow or golden
  • Grey
  • Black

The island has two active volcano. The ash that is formed during their eruption ends up on the beaches. The east coast is closest to the volcanoes, so the sand is black here. In the north, it has a more gray tint. In general, white sand beaches in Bali can only be found on the Bukit Peninsula and small islands located nearby (Nusa Penida, Lembongan, Gili). On the south coast - in Kuta and Seminyak - the sand is yellow-gray. In Sanur and Nusa Dua - white and golden, but it is not natural, but imported.

The structure of the sand is also different. Black volcanic - mostly small, sticks to a wet body and hands. Although there are beaches with rather coarse black sand, resembling very small pebbles. White sand on Bukit is both large and small. Gray is made up of different factions. Except sandy beaches, on the east coast the islands are rocky. They are covered with black cobblestones of various sizes.

Waves

It is not for nothing that the island is called a mecca for surfers. Due to the special structure of the bottom and coral reefs near the coast, rather high waves form on the local coasts.

They are divided into three types:

  1. Closeouts (close-out) - closed waves, suitable for riding in foam, quite dangerous when their height reaches two meters or more
  2. Gentle waves (Spilling waves) - characteristic of the coast with a slight slope of the bottom, do not form pipes, suitable for beginner surfers
  3. Plunging waves - fast waves that break into a tube, suitable for advanced and professional surfers

The height and type of the wave depend on the tides and the direction of the wind. In the southwestern part of the island, the waves are higher during the dry season, as southeasterly winds blow here at this time. On the opposite coast, the ocean is more agitated during the rainy season, due to southwesterly winds. High waves are more typical for the southern tip of the island. The best in this sense are the beaches of the Bukit Peninsula, Kuta and Seminyak.

However, one can also find quiet places with small waves. Most of them are located in the north of the island, near the resort of Lovina. There is good places on the east and southeast coast - first of all, this is the resort of Sanur. There are low waves on some beaches of the Bukit Peninsula - Padang Padang, Jimbar en, Nusa Dua.

Purity

Interestingly, you can find completely opposite reviews about the same beach. Some visitors write that it is almost perfectly clean, others talk about terrible dirt. In fact, it all depends on the location, infrastructure and season.

Conventionally, I would divide the beaches by cleanliness into several categories:

  • The protected beaches near the hotels are the cleanest. Garbage is removed from the coast several times a day.
  • Public beaches with well-developed infrastructure are quite clean. Garbage is removed in the morning and evening.
  • Public beaches with poor infrastructure - cleanliness depends on the time of day and season. There is less garbage in the morning than in the evening, it is very dirty during the rainy season.
  • Wild secluded beaches - there are both clean and dirty - it all depends on the place and season. But on such coasts, garbage left by tourists is less common. Most of the time it's just algae.

It is important to note that during the peak of the rainy season (from late January to early March), almost all beaches are dirty. The sea brings a lot of garbage, and the coast does not have time to clean up even on prestigious resorts. Of course, tourists who visited one of the beaches at this time will not leave the best reviews about it.

There is one more nuance - according to local religion, the ocean is considered sacred place. People come here to make offerings to the gods. Fishermen without this rite do not go to sea. On many beaches, you can see small altars where locals bring their ritual gifts in the form of wreaths of flowers, herbs, twigs and fruits. Especially a lot of offerings are brought to the Balinese New Year when religious ceremonies are traditionally held by the sea. Over time, the wreaths dry up, are carried by the wind, float away to the sea, but then come back.

But the remains of ritual offerings cannot be compared with what vacationers leave on the shore. Bottles, bags, plastic utensils - all this at high tide is again on the coast. Some beaches are equipped with concrete piers. Garbage, adjoining these piers, lingers for a long time, making it difficult to swim.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure of the beaches on the island is very different. In the protected areas near the hotels, the principle of "all inclusive" applies, here you can find any services. Many public beaches with fully or partially developed infrastructure. There are also completely wild places where there is nothing but sea and sand.

According to the development of infrastructure, the beaches are conditionally divided into the following types:

  • Well developed infrastructure
On such beaches, you can rent sunbeds, umbrellas, surfboards, equipment for diving, snorkeling and other types of recreation. They offer a lot here interesting entertainment- beach volleyball, banana rides, jet skis and much more. The infrastructure also includes lifeguard stations, showers, and toilets. There are cafes and restaurants near the coast or on the beach itself. All places of this type are paid, prices fluctuate widely. AT separate category include protected beaches near hotels, where outsiders are not allowed.
Beaches from the very better infrastructure located in the resorts of Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Sanur. In the east and north of the island, similar places can only be found near hotels.

  • Medium infrastructure
These beaches provide many of the services listed above. But there may be no lifeguard station, sun lounger rentals and recreation equipment, sometimes there is no shower or toilet. Cafes are represented by a small bar counter, a shop with local dishes or fast food.
Beaches with medium infrastructure can be found anywhere on the island. Most of them are in the east and north (in Lovina), there are such places on the Bukit peninsula, the islands of Lembongan and Nusa Penida

  • Wild beaches where there is no infrastructure at all
There are a lot of wild or secret beaches in Bali. They are located on the east coast as well as on the Bukit Peninsula. There are several secluded spots on Gili, Lembongan and Nusa Penida. Tourists do not know about some of them at all.

What types of recreation are local beaches suitable for?

In fact, you can do anything here. The beaches of Bali are suitable for swimming, surfing, diving and snorkeling, various sports, and just for walking along the coast.

Here are the main types of recreation:

  • Surfing and its varieties (windsurfing, bodyboarding, windsurfing, kitesurfing)
The best places for surfing are the south coast of the island, including the Bukit peninsula. At the same time, I recommend going to the southwestern beaches during the dry season, and to the southeastern ones during the rainy season. It has to do with the direction of the wind.
Kitesurfing (boarding behind a boat) and windsurfing (boarding with a sail) are more developed in the north, in Sanur, Tanjung Benoa and Nusa Dua. The waves here are small, therefore they are suitable for this type of beach entertainment.
  • Diving and snorkeling
The best beaches for snorkeling are in the north (kur ort Lovina) and east of the island (Amed, Candidasa, Tulamben). There are great places on the nearby islands.
  • Swimming
Not all beaches are suitable for swimming due to high waves or rocky bottom. You can swim in some places on the Bukit Peninsula, on the Gili Islands. by the most popular resorts in this regard, Sanur, Nusa Dua and Lovina are considered.
  • Sports beach activities (volleyball, jet ski, flyboard ding, etc.)
The main centers of sports entertainment are the beaches of Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua and Sanur. They have small waves and well-developed infrastructure. There are also many beach activities in Kuta, Seminyak.
  • preferences. Determine for yourself 1-2 main criteria by which you will look for a beach. When you find several options, you can pay attention to other characteristics that are less important to you. If you follow this principle, there is a chance to find the best beach for yourself.

The beaches of Bali are not quite what tourists usually expect from them 😎 This is not the Maldives ... and there are not many Bounty-style beaches, you still need to look for them! More often people fly to a paradise island for the sake of surfing, nature and authenticity, rather than for a beach holiday. Therefore, before buying plane tickets, enter the coordinates the best beaches in Bali on the map maps.me and rent a bike or car

For the pioneers of beach Bali, I advise you to take private tour with a Russian guide

I will show photos of the beaches of Bali from two holidays - December 2016 and 2017. Recommendations are my subjective, there are more good beaches, but I didn’t go there for a tan, I devoted most of my time to the jungle, rice fields and simple rest. MY MAP OF BEACHES

WHITE SAND BEACHES IN SOUTHERN BALI

Jimbaran beach

It is located near the Denpasar airport, the sand is white, the bottom is flat, big waves was not noticed. The temperature of the water in the ocean feels + 28. I advise you to choose the left side of the beach for swimming, in Google Maps it is Pantai Muaya , we parked the car for free next to the temple (-8.782889, 115.161914). By the way, drive in all the coordinates with a minus sign, since Bali is located below the equator. Sunbeds for the money, but we did not take. We sat down on chairs at the grandmother selling coconuts and beer. In the distance, the photo shows a luxurious bungalow. My photo with coconut was taken on Jimbaran beach

Jimbaran Beach is also known for its fish restaurants, they are located closer to its center, choose any one, looking into the aquariums with the catch inside the premises. People come to 17 to take the trump seats and enjoy the sunset (in winter it is at 18:30). The price tag for seafood and fish is average, but closer to European, but keep in mind + 15% tax and + for service.

To the right of the fish restaurants, the Denpasar airport runway is clearly visible, and planes land here every 5 minutes. They also sell corn here and musicians entertain guests with songs in all languages of the world. For us, the Balinese chose for some reason "A glass of vodka on the table." I paid them 50 thousand rupees (3 euros)

Pantai Tegal Wangi Jimbaran
There is a secluded wild cove very close ( -8.781397, 115.141482)🌊 Besides us, there were also several romantic couples hiding behind the rocks from the sun and spectators🌴☀ Andrei frolicked in the ocean, looked like a child, it was his first swim in the Indian Ocean 🏊

The coast there is rocky, I didn’t find a place for sunbathing and there were big waves, but the place is damn beautiful and wild. Maybe it's quieter at low tide.

Balangan beach
Balangan beach- one of the most photogenic beaches, so many wedding photographers hang out on the cape (-8.790441, 115.125056). The ceremonies are symbolic, with a wedding arch, a white dress - obviously only for the sake of a photo shoot.

If you go down to the beach from the opposite edge (-8.793569, 115.122900), then you will find yourself in a simple eatery, you can immediately rent a board. But the entrance to the sea here is unpleasant, let the photo with white sand fascinate you ... but there are a lot of boulders in the water, and the waves knock you off your feet. This place is more for surfing

I've been here twice, and I can't say that it's nice to swim. On the other side of the beach, we found a place where we could swim near the shore.

Beach in Canggu
We lived in this town for 5 days by booking a hotel room Sunset Villa Bali, which was deserted due to a recent volcanic eruption. For 800 rubles per day for 2 people we got complete privacy, comfort and a pool with a kitchen. Breakfast in the morning at Hungry Bird Coffee What a great cappuccino! By the way, using this link you will receive 20 euros as a gift for your first booking on Arnbnb.

We lived 7 minutes walk from Finns Beach Club, the beach there is long, there are many small bars where you can lie in exchange for juice, beer. The sand here is no longer white, but gray, but pleasant for walking. And swimming in Canggu is hard because of the big waves, but perfect place for surfing.

Andrey rented a board - 50 thousand rupees (3 euros) for 2 hours on Batu Balong Beach

A small video review of these beaches

Gala's Beach or Nikko Beach
These beaches are very close on the map), respectable hotels are located along the road. And it was the best beach in Bali, moreover, it was deserted, there were no waves near the ocean, white sand of coral origin was under our feet 🏜 We parked the car near the temple (-8.833364, 115.213052) and went down the steep steps.

We found a deserted cave to rest in the shade, where there were sunbeds from a luxury hotel 🏖and brazenly used them! We swam with a mask, collected shells, listened to the sound of the ocean waves 🌊🐚🐳 I never stopped thanking the Agung volcano for the deserted Bali in December 😘 If you compare my vacation in 2016 and in 2017, then the island then and now is heaven and earth! 👏 If you are afraid to drive a bike and a car on the island, I advise you to take an individual tour. Affordable accommodation close to Nikko Beach - or luxury hotel The Ritz-Carlton Bali

In slow motion, I made a video about the best beach in Bali, in our opinion

And I would like to say a few more words about The worst white sand beaches in Bali:

  1. Sanur beach! I didn’t even take a photo, there is a swamp, not the sea, swimming in shallow water with algae is still a pleasure. Don't waste your vacation in a retirement resort...
  2. Padang Padang beach, where they filmed the film "Eat, Pray, Love" (a report about it here). In the photo it seems that this is a heavenly place, but there were so many people that they did not get high. Muddy water, although the entrance is pleasantly gentle. Entrance is paid - 10 thousand rupees (70 euro cents), parking is paid, the cafe on the beach sucks, dirty. After visiting the crowded publicized tourist places in Bali, Andrey and I decided to travel only to little-known and natural beauties

In the video you will see a real picture from Padang Padang beach

Black sand beaches in Bali

Lipah beach in Amed
We went to the north of Bali not for the beaches, but for the silence and low prices. It's funny, but this region is underdeveloped, asphalt was laid only in the early 2000s. But we really liked the calm sea, however, it is a little colder indian ocean(maybe +26). We booked a room in Bayu Cottages Hotel for 12 euros for two with breakfast, and again we were alone! Of course, in season and not with an erupting volcano, it costs more 😜 The Bali Sea is ideal for swimming 🏊fishing 🎣snorkeling and diving. We rested on the Lipach beach, this is a secluded cove with an incredible underwater world! The color of the sand is black, it is very fine, but at the entrance to the sea there is white sand, so the water is clear.

If this is your first time booking on Arnbnb, use $25 off

The same Lipach beach sunny morning. Check out the transparency and calmness!

From Ubud we got here at least 2 hours along narrow roads and jungle, renting a car for 10 euros per day. I can also advise you to take an excursion to the north of Bali to see Amed, swim on the beach, visit water palaces and Lempuyang Temple overlooking. We saw him splashing in the hotel pool. From there you can see the sea, and it takes 15 seconds to go down to it.

The most interesting thing in Amed is snorkeling. We had our own mask and snorkel, but here every little boy offers them for rent. As are the boats. Also, for 300 thousand rupees (18 euros) you can go fishing at dawn. Diving enthusiasts also come here to dive to sunken ships.

The big plus of the north of Bali over the tourist south was cheap fish. Once bought from a fisherman from a boat for 50 thousand 3 pieces (3 euros). And then all the days they ate in Amed Resto, I ordered mackerel with rice and vegetables for only 2 euros

Beach at Les Village

In the Tejakula area, we settled in an amazing hotel with a diving center Sea Communities - Segara Lestari Villas, we got carried away by chance thanks to Arnbnby, after reading the reviews. In the Less Village, everything is fine - silence, the absence of tourists and the integrity of the locals, huge portions of food from the hostess for dinner, coconut, mango and rambutan plantations, the sound of the sea even in our room. But the beach is missing, although the black sand mixed with huge stones did not frighten the local kids, they swam. We lived in an eco-village for 5 days, and still we were satisfied with the "other Bali"

Lovina beach in Bali
The beaches in the north of Bali are generally not encouraging, civilized and suitable for swimming are few. We read about Lovina in the north of Bali, arrived, and there was a shallow, muddy and gray sea, the Sea of \u200b\u200bAzov ... We found a civilized swimming beach on the map - Spice Beach Club Bali, having paid as much as 3 euros for fresh watermelon, the sea here also did not please, but we used sun loungers and a toilet.

The locals pestered with renting boats to see dolphins, but I see them in Montenegro in the Tivat Bay, where our yacht is moored. We left Lovina for a swim in the hot springs.

Beaches for swimming in Bali in the east

Few of the tour package tourists realize that in the east of the island there are wonderful beaches with white sand and no waves. This is also the Bali Sea, not the ocean.

Blue Lagoon beach in Bali- this is a place from the category of "must see". The road from Ubud here is simple, there are few cars, the track is wide in places (-8.529756, 115.513304

This beach is located a 2-minute drive from the famous Padangbay Pier, from where boats leave for the paradise islands of Gili. We never got to them, but there beach holidays are much more luxurious!

Secret beach in Bali or Bias Tugel Beach
It is located on the other side of Padangbay. Incredibly beautiful white sand beach, few people, silence and romantic atmosphere. Parking is free, then you need to make your way through the jungle along the path, it is better to be in shoes. I was there in 2016 - this is one of the best beaches in Bali without waves with
clear sea little known to tourists.

I hope that my stories about Bali and photos of the beaches will help organize your trip to the paradise island correctly 😄 Whatever the rumors about the beaches of Bali - that it is not possible to swim, they are dirty or suitable only for surfers - remember that you always have a choice, the main thing is the maps.me map on the phone, and under the booty is the seat of a bike or car 🚙 since there is no public transport on the island

Where to buy insurance in Bali - which is better

No one forces you to spend extra money on insurance in Bali, whether to buy it or not is your own business, they don’t check at the airport ... But remember that Indonesia has a different climate, water and food, almost everyone in Bali has an upset stomach from Indonesian kitchens. Here you can catch dengue fever with a bite of one type of mosquito and wallow with fever and vomiting for a week or two. And no one is immune from small accidents or falls from the bike, given the left-hand traffic and terrible traffic on the island.

I would recommend buying insurance in Bali from a company. Their assistance in Russia, Mondial, has recently changed its name to Allianz Global Assistance. Believe me, this is the most reliable in the insurance industry, the main office is in Paris. This is the only assistance with an “AA” rating from Standard & Poor’s, it is he who will save you on the island in insurance cases, as well as pay for your treatment. You can check the price of insurance in Bali in this form by entering the flight dates and the country of Indonesia.

Rainy season in Bali 2018

Winter is the rainy season in Bali, although we didn’t see them much, more often they come at night. The temperature is comfortable all year round and does not rise above +31, but it is humid. In the north of the island in the Amed region, it rains much less than in the center in the Ubud region, where the jungle is, due to the fact that volcanoes do not let clouds go north. In the south of the island, it also rains less often in winter than in Ubud, but the ocean is stuffy and hot.

It is better to fly to Bali in spring and early autumn, and in summer - the peak of the tourist season, there is little rainfall, but there are many tourists and high prices.

Tickets to Bali - how much does it cost to fly to the island

Please note that we did not fly from Moscow, but from Montenegro, and this is an additional plane, so the flight cost more. For two people, they spent 1,545 euros on Turkish Airlines for the Podgorica-Istanbul-Jakarta segment. Thanks to the two hotels in transit, I consider this a low price, although Qatar Airways (from Belgrade) or Singapore Airlines (from Milan) were cheaper. And another 200 euros went back and forth from the capital of Indonesia to the Denpasar airport.

You can fly to Bali from Moscow, Kyiv, St. Petersburg and Belgrade Qatar Airways, Singapore or Emirates
