Where to stay in Pereslavl Zalessky reviews. Pereslavl - Zalessky

Residents of Pereslavl-Zalessky call it "a place that is a 2-hour drive from the rubber city." And like all the provincials, Muscovites do not like. And in vain. Most tourists come to Pereslavl just from Moscow.

The road from Moscow to Pereslavl takes no more than 2 hours. In addition, Pereslavl, in comparison with other cities of the Golden Ring, is famous for its very good infrastructure and is rich in a variety of attractions.

In the summer it's just heaven. Pereslavl-Zalessky is located in a very picturesque places- on the banks of the Trubezh River and Lake Pleshcheyevo. There is where to swim, sunbathe and go fishing. And the surroundings of Pereslavl are rich in all sorts of interesting things.

In Pereslavl-Zalessky

We often like to get out to Pereslavl for a couple of days. It is really very convenient to go there by car from Moscow. Usually we lay our route through Sergiev Posad. So it turns out that in one weekend you can visit two cities of the Golden Ring at once.

A bit about the history of the city

Pereslavl-Zalessky is the same age as Moscow.

In Russia there were several cities with the name Pereslavl. There was Pereslavl-South (now the city of Khmelnitsky), Pereslavl-Ryazan (now Ryazan) and our Pereslavl. He received the prefix "Zalessky" because he was located in Zalesye - behind forests impenetrable from Kyiv and Chernigov.

This city was founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in 1152. Initially, it served as a fortress and protected Suzdal and Vladimir from enemy raids. The city flourished in the 13th century. At this time, Pereslavl became the center of the Vladimir-Suzdal lands.

Pereslavl is the birthplace of Alexander Nevsky. He was born in here in 1221.

Despite the fact that Pereslavl is the birthplace of the great Russian commander, who won brilliant victories over the Swedes and the Teutonic knights and was canonized as a Saint, his coat of arms is extremely peaceful. It depicts the famous Pereslavl vendace - fish that are found only in Lake Pleshcheyevo.

How to get there

From Moscow on a straight road.

By car

From Moscow to Pereslavl-Zalessky we go along the Yaroslavl highway(highway M8), past Sergiev Posad. You can drive through Sergiev Posad itself, visit the Lavra on the way and have lunch in this city. Or, if Sergiev Posad is not needed, drive past on the bypass road. Time from MKAD to Pereslavl - 1.5-2 hours (about 140 km).

By public transport

Unfortunately, there is no railway in Pereslavl-Zalessky.

There are 2 ways to get to the city from Moscow using public transport. One is more comfortable, the other is less.

  1. The best way to get to Pereslavl-Zalessky is direct shuttle bus. Buses to Pereslavl depart from the bus station at VDNKh(Moscow-Pereslavl, Moscow-Yaroslavl, Moscow-Kostroma, Moscow-Rybinsk, etc.). Travel time is just over 2 hours. Price - from 280 rubles. See the schedule and the exact cost of tickets at rasp.yandex.ru.
  2. A less convenient route is to get to Pereslavl using a combination train + bus. You can use the trains departing from the Yaroslavl station in the direction Sergiev Posad and the city of Alexandrov. Next, change seats and the bus going to the place. From both of these cities there are buses to Pereslavl. Distance from Sergiev Posad - 70 km; from Alexandrov - 72 km. See train and bus timetables

What to see in Pereslavl-Zalessky

Pereslavl-Zalessky is one of those cities that are most convenient to explore on your own transport. Because the main attractions are not concentrated in one part of it (not in historical center, as in many other cities), but settled on the outskirts, or even crawled out of the city, like Peter's Botik and Sin-stone.

Pereslavl-Zalessky is, first of all, a city of monasteries and ancient churches, as well as small, but cozy and interesting private museums.

Excursions in Pereslavl

  • Transfiguration Cathedral

Pereslavl sightseeing guide

City center

I propose to start acquaintance with Pereslavl from its central part.

The main attractions of the center are Red Square and Transfiguration Cathedral, as well as located next to them bright and conspicuous iron museum.

Red Square is the heart of Pereslavl. The main building here is the Transfiguration Cathedral.

Transfiguration Cathedral

iconic place Pereslavl. Although the cathedral is quite small in size, it is one of the most valuable architectural and historical monuments on the territory of Pereslavl. I will try to briefly describe the most Interesting Facts associated with its history.

This is one of the earliest white stone temples that appeared in the northeast ancient Russia and the only one that has come down to us in almost unchanged form. Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral is the same age as the city. He, as well as Pereslavl, began to be built in 1152. Grand Duke Yuri Dolgoruky is considered the founder of the cathedral.

Its history is closely intertwined with the key events of our country. It was in this cathedral that Alexander Nevsky was baptized, and one of the greatest saints of the Russian land, Sergius of Radonezh, was elevated here to the rank of abbot.

The son and grandson of Alexander Nevsky are buried in the tomb of the cathedral.

In Soviet times, the Alexander Nevsky Museum worked here. Then it was closed, now it is open in another place.

The history of the princes Bogolyubsky is also connected with this cathedral.

One of the most unusual finds occurred here during restoration work in 2015, when ancient inscriptions (Old Russian graffiti) were found on the walls containing information about the murder of Prince Andrei Bogolyubsky, listing the names of his killers.

The cathedral is also known for its temple icon "Transformation" work Theophan the Greek - a real masterpiece of ancient Russian painting.

The temple icon of the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Transfiguration by Theophan the Greek is now on display in one of the halls of the Tretyakov Gallery

Once upon a time, the walls of the cathedral were decorated with unique frescoes of the 12th century, which, unfortunately, have been lost. The only surviving piece of one of the frescoes of the cathedral can be seen in Historical Museum of Moscow.

Officially, the cathedral now belongs to the Pereslavl St. Nicholas Monastery, but services are rarely held here. We, like most tourists, only managed to walk around the cathedral and admire the monument to A. Nevsky.

The page of the cathedral on the website of the Pereslavl Museum-Reserve: museumpereslavl.ru

St. Vladimir's Cathedral

It is also called the New Cathedral.

It was built in the 18th century. and took over the functions of the old Transfiguration Cathedral. During the construction of the cathedral, the Bogoroditsko-Sretensky Monastery was located on this territory, which was later abolished and has not survived to our time. In the Soviet period, the House of Physical Education worked in the temple. Now it is a functioning temple. It is easy to get inside during the morning or evening liturgy.

Church of Alexander Nevsky

A small temple, together with the Vladimir Cathedral, is part of the Pereslavl Red Square complex. These two temples are very similar in style and were built at the same time. The temple is dedicated to Prince Alexander Nevsky. The main shrine is the ark with a particle of his relics. Pereslavl-Zalessky also has museum of A. Nevsky, which is located near the Goritsky monastery. Read about it below.

iron museum

The fact that this museum will be fun can be seen already at the entrance.

The museum has a rich collection of various irons, starting from the most ancient ones. The guides will jokingly tell and demonstrate to you the history of the appearance and transformation of this simple object. I advise everyone to visit this museum, especially families with children. Bright, fun, interesting.

The museum was opened in 1999 by a private entrepreneur A. Vorobyov. There is another museum in Pereslavl that belongs to him - this is Teapot Museum(located at Botik Peter). Both museums are very similar in style and decoration.

Opposite the Iron Museum you will see Museum of cunning and ingenuity, also opened by a private entrepreneur (since the end of January 2018, it has been closed for repairs). It contains antique household items. The abundance of such small but imaginative museum museums suggests that Pereslavl residents are enterprising and very creative people.

Iron Museum opening hours: daily from 10:00 to 18:00

Prices:

  • Weekdays - 100 rub. adults, 50 rub. pupils;
  • weekend - 120 rub. adults, 60 rub. pupils;

Church of the 40 Sebastian Martyrs

A small but very beautiful church in Rybnaya Sloboda. It stands on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo, near the mouth of the Trubezh River.

It is not known exactly when the church was founded, but it is known that in the 17th century. it already existed. Be sure to go inside the church, there is an incredibly beautiful wall painting, which was made after the return of the church to the Russian Orthodox Church in the 90s. 20th century The murals were created by artists from the Izhevsk Artefact group under the guidance of V. N. Morozov. In Soviet times, the church was in disrepair. There were premises for a rescue station, and before that there were locksmith workshops and a library.

The main shrine of the temple- icon of 40 Sebastian martyrs with relics. The church is not always open. See the schedule of services (the schedule of services is promptly placed on the page In contact with).

Southern part of the city

There are five monasteries in Pereslavl-Zalessky - three for men and two for women. Four of them are located in the southern part of the city, within walking distance from each other.

The monasteries of Pereslavl suffered greatly during the Soviet period. Not all of them are now operating, not all have been restored, but work is underway to restore them.

I propose to start the tour from the Goritsky Monastery, which towered over the city. Its towers and the majestic appearance of powerful walls give the monastery a resemblance to a fortress.

Goritsky Assumption Monastery and Art Museum

Monastery for men with very ancient history. It is called Goritsky because it is located on a mountain.

A bit about the history of the monastery

The monastery was founded under Ivan Kalita(beginning of the 14th century). The original wooden buildings of the monastery were destroyed by the troops of Khan Tokhtamysh. Later it was rebuilt thanks to the efforts of the wife of Dmitry Donskoy. The monastery was abolished in 1744. At first, the residence of the bishop of the Pereslavl diocese was placed here, but after 44 years it was also closed.

The territory of the monastery is quite impressive, which speaks of its wealth and prosperity in the past. Powerful stone walls with towers, as well as the Passage and Holy Gates appeared here in the 17th century. On the belfry is now viewpoint , from which you can admire the views of the city outskirts and Lake Pleshcheyevo. Although it is small in height, the monastery itself stands on a mountain, so the views from the site are very spectacular.

The largest temple on the territory of the monastery - Assumption Cathedral. It began to be built in the 50s of the 18th century, but due to the abolition of the diocese, it was never completed. Go inside the cathedral, as the best craftsmen from New Jerusalem worked on its design. Preserved very beautiful gilded iconostasis the work of the Moscow master Y. Zhukov.

Now posted here Historical and Art Museum-Reserve with an art gallery(not a bad collection, which includes works by Korovin, Makovsky, Polenov, Mashkov and Lentulov).

The work of Konstantin Korovin "Early Spring" from the art gallery of the Pereslavl Museum

One of the functioning churches is the gate church of Nicholas the Wonderworker of the end of the 17th century. A bust of Yuri Dolgoruky, the founder of Pereslavl-Zalessky, is installed on the monastery territory.

There is also a necropolis here (one of the most famous graves is that of academician of painting D. Kardovsky).

House of Artist Kardovsky located below, next to the monastery.

Prices for visiting individual objects

A. Nevsky Museum

The exposition is dedicated to Alexander Nevsky, as well as the history of Pereslavl-Zalessky.

You can visit it only with a guided tour, it is included in the ticket price. The museum has wonderful guides who tell a very interesting story about the history of the city. Tour duration - about 40 min. It is convenient to combine a visit to this museum with a tour of the Goritsky Monastery.

Radio Museum

Located on Podgornaya Street, across the street from the Goritsky Monastery.

The unusual collection of the museum has been assembled by a true enthusiast and connoisseur of radio engineering. In addition to the old tube radio, old film and photographic equipment, the very first TV models (the famous KVN-49 and etc.). Most often, the owner himself and conducts tours. The duration of the tour is 30-40 minutes. Many exhibits can be touched and tested in action. Photography is free.

This is one of the most interesting museums Pereslavl.

  • From Tuesday to Sunday - from 10:00 to 18:00,
  • Monday is a day off.

  • adults - 200 rubles.

Holy Trinity Danilov Monastery

Located near the Goritsky Monastery.

This monastery was founded in 1508 by the Monk Daniel. During the Soviet period, the monastery was closed and returned to the Russian Orthodox Church in 1995. Now it is a functioning male monastery. On the territory of the monastery, the most interesting Trinity Cathedral 1532 built. Inside this cathedral are frescoes of the 17th century., created by masters of the Kostroma school under the guidance of Guria Nikitina and well preserved to our time.

Interestingly, the Trinity Cathedral was built in honor of the birth of the son of Vasily III, the future Tsar Ivan the Terrible.

Holy Righteous Daniel during his lifetime was known as the patron of all the poor, homeless, sick and wretched. No wonder it was on the territory of this monastery that the first hospital in Pereslavl was opened.

The relics of Righteous Daniel rest in the monastery, in the Danilovsky Limit of the Trinity Cathedral.

The monastery is open to the public:

  • weekdays - from 07:30 to 20:00;
  • Saturday, Sunday and holidays- from 8:30 to 20:30.

Feodorovsky Convent

The current female monastery of Pereslavl. It is located next to Dendropark and two other monasteries - Goritsky and St. Danilov.

A bit about the history of the monastery

The monastery was founded in 1304. Initially, it was a male monastery, but since 1667 it was transformed into a female monastery, and the few male brethren were redistributed to other monasteries of the diocese.

The main temple on the territory of the monastery is the Feodorovsky Cathedral, which was built and named after the son of Ivan the Terrible in 1557.

Under Soviet rule, the monastery was abolished. During this period, it housed either a children's colony, or a nursing home, or military institutions, or a hostel at the institute.

The monastery is known for the fact that it houses one of the most revered icons of the Mother of God in Russia - the Andronikov Icon of the Mother of God. The Andronikov Icon of the Mother of God is the main shrine of the monastery. At the bottom, under the icon, there is a drawer where people write notes to the Mother of God with requests

This icon is associated with several interesting events. It is believed that it was written during the life of the Virgin by the Evangelist Luke. In Byzantine times, it belonged to Emperor Andronicus II Palaiologos. In honor of this, she got her name.

Subsequently, the icon ended up in Greece, in one of the Orthodox monasteries, and in 1823 was transported to Russia. For some time the icon stayed in the Kazan Monastery, not far from Vyshny Volochok. After its destruction under the Soviet regime, it was in Kazan, and later in the Epiphany Cathedral of this city, from where it was mysteriously stolen in 1984.

The icon, which is now in the monastery, was brought here by one of the parishioners in 1998. And in 2005, according to the monastery chronicle, a real miracle happened here. The icon of the Andronikovskaya Mother of God began to smell fragrant, and in the winter of 2006, myrrh streamed abundantly. Miracles of healing began to happen, which you can read about on the official website of the monastery: feodor.orthodox.ru

Our impression of visiting the Feodorovsky convent is that the monastery is quite well-groomed, with a large territory, but everything has been restored to the end. The nuns are very friendly (it is said that there are now about 20 sisters living there). There are many pilgrimage groups in the temple where the miraculous icon hangs, but there is no fuss.

Photo and video filming inside the monastery is prohibited.

Sretenskaya Church

Something, but there are plenty of temples in Pereslavl. I personally will not take the liberty of counting all the cathedrals and churches in the territory of this city. But I would like to single out the Sretensky Church in particular. First of all, because it costs almost the very high place cities. And it looks so small and cozy among the huge monastic territories that surrounded it. It seemed to be lost among the three Pereslavl monasteries - Goritsky, St. Danilov and Feodorovsky.

The church was built in the 18th century. in the classical style, on the site of a wooden temple. From this place you can clearly see the panorama of the southern outskirts of the city with three monasteries located here. On ordinary days, the church is open only in the morning. On major holidays, evening liturgy is also held.

Dendrosad

It is located next to the Feodorovsky Convent. It will be interesting for walks in the warm season for those who came to Pereslavl for a few days. Dendrosad was created by a resident of Pereslavl-Zalessky, an honored forester of Russia - S. F. Kharitonov. He took care of the park almost until the end of his life (and he died at 94). This is a good place to walk and relax in nature. For children there is a playground, a fairy tale trail, many wooden sculptures, big collection plants. But the entrance to its territory is paid - 100 rub. for adults.

Opening hours: from 10:00 to 18:00.

Nikolsky Monastery

A working convent with a rather well-groomed and cozy territory - a pond, flower beds and fruit trees.

The monastery has a long history and was also originally founded as a male monastery. Many buildings in it were destroyed after the revolutionary events. For example, the bell tower main temple monastery - Nikolsky Cathedral, were blown up in the 30s of the XX century.

Nikolsky Cathedral was rebuilt in 2003, but the new building style does not repeat the previous one. Now it is one of the largest and most majestic churches in the city. And on the site where the bell tower stood, there is now a belfry with three spans.

The main shrine of the monastery is the Korsun cross. This is a special, ancient Byzantine type of cross, with particles of the relics of saints inside.

There were only 10 such crosses. In Soviet times, the cross was in Pereslavl historical museum, but in 2009 he was returned to the monastery. Also in the Nikolsky Monastery are relics of St. Andrew of Smolensk, and now a temple dedicated to him is being built.

Northern part of the city

Nikitsky Monastery

It's another one famous place pilgrimages in Pereslavl. Here are relics of St. Nikita the Stylite, the famous Pereslavl miracle worker and great martyr, who lived in the XII century.

The Nikitsky Monastery is one of the oldest in Russia and the oldest in Pereslavl-Zalessky. It is believed that it was founded as early as 1010.

A bit about the history of the monastery

The founder of the monastery is believed to be Prince Boris, the son of Prince Vladimir, the Baptist of Russia. The original wooden buildings of the monastery, of course, have not survived to this day. The oldest monastery buildings date back to the 16th century. - the reign of Ivan the Terrible. At this time, the period of the greatest prosperity of the monastery fell. Ivan the Terrible was going to use the monastery as a fortress. Therefore, he erected powerful walls with towers and loopholes.

Nikitsky Cathedral- the main temple on the monastery territory. It was built in the 16th century. The relics of St. Nikita the Stylite are in the temple under a bushel. St. Nikita the Stylite died at the hands of robbers who mistook the old iron chains, in which the Saint was dressed, for silver ones. A stone chapel was built in 1786 on the site of his prayer service (pillar-well).

St. Nikita the Stylite during his lifetime became famous for the gift of healing. And now numerous pilgrims come to him with requests for healing from incurable diseases. Icon of the 19th century depicting the Saints of Pereslavl - Nikita the Stylite, Cornelius, Daniel and Prince Andrei of Smolensk (collection of the Pereslavl Museum)

Approximately 1 km from the monastery (you need to go in the direction of Sin-stone) there is healing spring Reverend Nikita- with a chapel and covered fonts. And next to the monastery there is a small chapel erected in honor of the healing of Mikhail of Chernigov. According to legend, Saint Nikita healed Prince Michael, who was paralyzed.

Trinity Church and the grave of Blessed Mishenka-Samuel

A small, unremarkable-looking church on the very edge of the city in Troitskaya Slobidka, which is now not in the best condition. But the church is active, having a long and interesting story. It is not necessary to go inside it, you will not see much interesting there. But this place itself may be of interest to those who came to Pereslavl-Zalessky for pilgrimage purposes. The fact is that here is the grave of the locally revered Saint - Blessed Mishenka-Samuel.

He lived in Pereslavl in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The story of his life is interesting and tragic, reminiscent of the fate of other famous Russian Saints - Blessed Matrona and Xenia of Petersburg. Among believers far beyond the borders of Pereslavl, the place of his burial became famous as miraculous. Holiday services are performed there, many come to the grave with requests for healing and other help.

If you leave the city in the direction of Rostov, you will immediately notice the sign “Tomb of Bl. Mishenki-Samuel”, standing on the road.

Museum-Estate "Botik Petra"

Although this is one of the most famous sights of Pereslavl-Zalessky, it did not make a big impression on us. Although the very place where Botik is located is very beautiful and perfect for walking. We walked there in winter, in summer it is probably even more beautiful. The "Boat Petra" is located outside the city, next to Lake Pleshcheyev, near the village of Veskovo.

The view from the high hill Gremyach to Lake Pleshcheyevo is impressive.

The estate "Botik Peter" is one of the oldest provincial museums in Russia. It was opened as early as 1803.

A bit about the history of Botik

This shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo, 2 km from Pereslavl, was chosen by Peter I for the construction of his famous Amusing Flotilla. This is where the Russian fleet originates from.

"Peter's Flotilla on Pereslavl Lake August 25, 1692" - the work of the artist D. Kardovsky

The first launch took place here May 1, 1692. The ships were built at a shipyard located near the Trubezh River, in Pereslavl itself. It is known that during the construction of ships, the king lived in the Nikitsky and Goritsky monasteries.

Here is the Botik himself:

This is the only surviving ship of the famous amusing flotilla, moreover, made by Peter himself.

In the territory museum complex there are other museums with small expositions. Pavilion "Rotonda" introduces the interiors of the XVIII century. It was originally built as a dance hall. "White Palace" was built in the 19th century. to receive distinguished guests. Now there is an exhibition dedicated to Peter I.

Entrance to the territory of the museum-estate is paid, price - 30 rub.

Prices for visiting individual museums cm.

Open on the lake Cafe "Botik"

Cafe "Botik" on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo

And right next to him Record Museum. We did not visit this museum. As we understand, it works only on weekends. If you have a desire to go there, see the opening hours in the photo below:

We also did not dare to go to the Botik cafe. They say that here you should definitely try the most famous Pereslavl dish - royal vendace(which is found in Lake Pleshcheyevo).

In search of good Russian food, we decided to drive a little further - to the vaunted by our friends inn "Popov Meadow". Perfect place We highly recommend it! Nearby is a store with local farm products (the name sounds a little bit Lithuanian - "Labaz").

Lake Pleshcheyevo

Pereslavl is famous for being located in very beautiful places - at the confluence of the Trubezh River with Lake Pleshcheyevo. Landscapes around are very picturesque, hilly. Not without reason, many filmmakers used the city's surroundings for filming their films. The most famous is, of course, S. Eisenstein's film "Alexander Nevsky".

Lake Pleshcheyevo is the habitat of the most famous local delicacy - the Pereslavl vendace. The image of this fish is on the coat of arms of Pereslavl. In former times, it was called "royal herring" and was served at the table of royalty.

In summer, a recreation center is located on Lake Pleshcheyevo. You can swim in the lake, there is a beach, places for fishing. Behind the beach there is a paid recreation area with a mini-zoo (mostly all kinds of goats, birds, but there is also a big bear in a cage), a small museum of antiquities. This place is called "Cossack camp"(only open during the warm season).

blue stone

The most famous object of Lake Pleshcheyevo. Many come here from afar specifically to look at this stone. Honestly, I don't really understand why? This is a huge boulder, outwardly not much interesting, but fanned with mysticism and various legends. Probably, this mysticism attracts curious tourists here. And, of course, it is customary to make wishes here.

The weight of the stone is 12 tons. It is called blue for its bizarre shade - slightly blue.

The History of the Blue Stone in Brief

It is not known exactly when he appeared in these parts, but it was in the days of paganism. Obviously, the ancient people worshiped him and brought sacrifices. Later, the stone was declared a demonic relic. Everyone tried hard to get rid of him. possible ways- then walled up, then buried, then drowned. But the stone floated up, got out, appeared again. In the end, they decided to leave him alone. So he now lies on the shore of Lake Pleshcheyevo, at the very foot of the Alexander Mountain.

Rumor has it that this miracle stone changes its position every year.

At the very top of Mount Alexander, where the Blue Stone is located, stands cross of A. Nevsky. It was placed on the site of a former monastery founded by Alexander. If you wish, you can climb up and see it, and at the same time admire the surrounding landscapes.

Museum "House of the teapot"

If you've been to the Iron Museum, you'll find a similar story here, only about teapots. The guides here are the same comedians as in the "iron" museum. They tell about the history of the development of this item in a fun and interesting way, clearly demonstrating the history of the teapot on objects from the museum collection. Both museums make a positive impression and add positive emotions from visiting the city. The museum is located near the estate "Botik Petra".

The exact address: village Veskovo, st. Peter the Great, 17

Opening hours:

  • in the warm season - daily from 10:00 to 18:00;
  • in the cold season - from 10:00 to 18:00 only on weekends and holidays.

Prices:

  • Weekdays - 100 rub. adults, 50 rub. pupils;
  • weekend - 120 rub. adults, 60 rub. pupils.

Steam Locomotive Museum

An interestingly conceived museum worth a visit if you're into the locomotive theme. It is located 20 km from the city, the village of Talitsa. The road there is far from ideal and goes along Lake Pleshcheyevo.

It contains different models of trains, wagons and locomotives. Everything is on the street and, frankly, is not in the best condition. One of the oldest specimens - a steam locomotive with traces of a red star in front, now looks rather deplorable. There is also an exhibition of retro cars. It is not very big and is located under the roof.

In general, this is not such a toy-gingerbread museum as the Iron and Kettle museums. Let's just say - for an amateur. For extra money, they offer a ride on a trolley (see prices below).

Opening hours:

  • in spring, summer and autumn - from 10:00 to 18:00 daily, except Monday and Tuesday;
  • in winter - from 10:00 to 17:00 daily, except Monday and Tuesday.

Price:

  • entrance ticket - 150 rub. adults, 50 rub. pupils;
  • trolley riding - 150 rub. adults, 50 rub. pupils.

Varvarin source

A miraculous healing spring near the village of Kupanskoye, 12 km from Pereslavl. From the city you have to go towards the Sin-stone and further along the lake. The place is blessed, there are many pilgrims and those wishing to plunge into the font. Many simply go there in order to collect clean and tasty water from the source. People who want to get water often line up.

The spring is named after Saint Barbara. According to legend, bathing in this spring healed a deaf-mute. There is a chapel next to it.

If you are not on an SUV, then in the off-season it is better not to take risks and not drive, since asphalt is laid only on part of the way. From Sin-stone to the source can be reached on foot.

The closest city to Pereslavl is Rostov. Guide to Rostov.

Where to stay

I often hear complaints that Pereslavl is good for everyone, but it is difficult to find decent accommodation options in it. I do not agree with this opinion and I think that everything is in order in Pereslavl with affordable and more or less decent housing. Unlike the same Rostov or Suzdal. Below are a few proven places with good value for money.

Hotel "Pereslavl" - the first hotel in Pereslavl-Zalessky, built for the Olympics. This is the oldest and largest hotel in the city. I have repeatedly talked about hotels built in the Soviet era, and the conclusion has always been the same - they have much more undeniable pluses than minuses. Cons what? Well, the layout is already somewhat old-fashioned, the corridor system, perhaps not the newest furniture, renovation. Pluses of a completely different order - excellent service, decent breakfasts " Buffet", location in the city center, adequate booking conditions and prices. The same is true with the Pereslavl hotel."
I have known this hotel for decades. Not only is it impossible to pass through Pereslavl and not notice it - an impressive hotel, a spacious square in front of it. But there was a time when, when I was working in tourism, I ordered excursions from the Pereslavl travel agency, because the best guides in the city worked here.
And then the day came when I managed to live in this hotel, experience all its joys, and I must say - "Pereslavl" pleased. He is now tourist center Pereslavl-Zalessky, where you can stay overnight, relax, have a delicious meal in a cafe, book a tour with a professional guide, buy souvenirs, etc. I will tell you about all this and my impressions today in this review.

Why Pereslavl?

I guess it's just time stop at the main hotel of the city, get to know "Pereslavl" personally. Moreover, you know yourself, we are lovers of big, real hotels. Other things being equal, from a good large hotel with infrastructure and a good mini-hotel (guest house) we will always choose the first one.

But seriously, what is impossible not to pay attention to is the price of living in this hotel, which is important for tourists and travelers. The price of accommodation is absolutely adequate, the hotel makes impressive discounts and about booking from the official website of the Pereslavl Hotel, and when booking on Booking.com. Check out the prices and see for yourself! Accommodation in a standard room with a buffet breakfast when booking on a promotional basis will cost you 2,000 - 2,500 rubles! The price varies slightly depending on the dates and day of the week, and may even be less! And how good are the superior rooms here. Large, spacious, with a sofa. The cost is about 2,800 - 3,000 rubles with breakfast. Alas, we didn't get one. A very sought after number, keep in mind.
In general, "Pereslavl" is full of pluses. In addition to the excellent value for money, there are many good things for those who travel with the family. The hotel provides baby cots free of charge, regardless of the age of the baby. And these are absolutely full, comfortable beds.

The hotel cafe has a children's menu, which is also a big plus.
Price, a considerable number of positive reviews, focus on children, location, breakfast buffet - this is what immediately attracts attention. For us, these are convincing advantages for choosing a hotel.

Check-in, check-in

Since the trip was not pre-planned, there was no longer a possibility to choose rooms in the hotel closer to the date of arrival. The best rooms were occupied, as were the Standard rooms with one large bed. We stayed in a deluxe room (the cost of this room is non-refundable rate for our dates 2 880 rub. with breakfast).
I was allowed to take a photo of the Standard with two single beds. Other numbers were busy. Pay attention, the Standard is small, but very nice number.

So, we arrived at the hotel at 13.30. The hotel surprised us with a renovated facade and a decently filled parking lot. "Pereslavl" turned out to be a very popular hotel.
We were warmly welcomed at the reception. I filled out the Guest Card. Arrived quickly, no problems. We received a key card from the room and took the elevator to the third floor.

Suite

Suite - a number of two rooms - a spacious living room and a small bedroom (isolated rooms).
The living room has a sofa, a desk, a chair, a wardrobe, a large mirror, a nightstand and a coffee table.

There is a large TV on the wall, which shows about 12 channels.

In the bedroom - a large bed, bedside tables, table lamp.

The room has two balconies. Our windows overlooked a large area in front of the hotel and the road. The site will be beautified in the near future.

I just want to warn you. Despite the fact that the hotel is somewhat removed from the road, traffic noise can be heard at night. Well, let's just say, until midnight for sure. Then it's quiet until morning. If you are sensitive to noise, then when booking, specify a room with windows facing the courtyard and away from the elevator. The road did not interfere with us much, we did not hear the elevator at all, but you never know ... People are all different.
By the way, the windows in the hotel are already modern, double-glazed windows. There are mosquito nets. The windows are large, to the floor (French). We woke up in the morning, the sun seeps through the tulle, slips through thick curtains, floods everything around ... The sensations are incomparable!

As for the furniture. All furniture (wardrobe, table, etc.) is quite new.

The leather sofa needs updating. When unfolded, the upholstery of the sofa mattress "parted" in places. And if you start looking for the minuses of the room, then you can definitely cling to the sofa. Yes, not new. But if you remember the adequate price of this Suite and many other advantages of the Pereslavl hotel, then you no longer want to cling.

In general, I slept very well in the room. The rarest case that we woke up before our daughter.
There are no complaints about the bed, bed linen, pillows and blanket. Everything is clean and comfortable.

I also want to make an important point for me. The room is very warm and comfortable. And this despite the fact that we stopped by on a day when it was about zero outside, right down to the snow. Why did you pay attention to it? Yes, in almost every hotel all autumn, winter and spring I was freezing, waking up with a stuffy nose. And here it is warm everywhere - in the room, corridors, halls, cafes. Went with short sleeves.

The room has Wi-Fi. The Internet worked quickly, without interruptions.

On the table - an electric kettle, glasses, cups, spoons, saucers. A small digression - coolers with hot and cold water- in the lobby.

In addition to the living room, bedroom and two balconies, the room has a small corridor-entrance hall

and bathroom.
The bathroom has a bathtub, a sink, a heated towel rail, a shelf and towel racks. Each resident is provided with two towels (large and medium) plus a foot towel. There are also bathrobes and toiletries (soap, shampoo and shower gel). Hairdryer and slippers are available free of charge upon request.

Meals at the Pereslavl Hotel - Fit Café and Grand Café

The question is serious. A good breakfast is a must. A good lunch and dinner is a nice touch. And if good breakfasts are found from time to time in hotels, then we managed to have a good lunch and dinner in hotels ... We almost never managed to, I won’t lie. The Pereslavl Hotel was an exception.
I'll start with breakfast. AT Cafe Fit in the morning (from 8.00 to 11.00) buffet breakfasts are organized. The breakfasts are very good. Delicious. Two types of milk porridge, scrambled eggs, eggs, cheese, sausage, ham, casserole, potatoes, sausages, muesli, cereals, yoghurts, juices, tea, coffee, etc. In terms of quality and organization of breakfasts, the Pereslavl hotel is the best of all where we lived in Pereslavl. In other words, if a good breakfast is more important to you than the novelty of furniture and modern design, then you are here.

But breakfasts are breakfasts, but the question of where to eat in Pereslavl-Zalessky has remained open for us until now. I have talked about this many times and will not repeat myself, but in recent years we have not been able to find our cafe (restaurant) in Pereslavl. And then out of the blue...
has been working at the hotel "Pereslavl" for a long time. It is surprising that many have not heard of him. We are included. Most likely, the fact is that it is somewhat removed from the road, and it is difficult to see it during the day. It is easier at night - the luminous inscription "FIT Cafe" is clearly visible.

The cafe has two rooms. First hall.

Second hall.

Prices are moderate. There are discounts.

There is a fairly varied lenten menu (it was important for us) and a children's menu.

I liked the fact that the food is cooked upon order (and not warmed up). Everything is fresh. I liked the service - prompt, friendly. There is a service ordering food in the room.
But most importantly, it's delicious! Including a delicious lenten menu and delicious desserts.
Our lunch. Mostly lean.

In addition to the Fit cafe, on the ground floor in Pereslavl there are Grand Cafe. This is a new restaurant. Many people don't know about it. Take note! Here you can eat from the menu, drink delicious coffee, as well as order a banquet, holiday, lunches and dinners for tourist groups. You can enter the Grand Cafe through the main entrance to the Pereslavl Hotel.

On the this moment hotel "Pereslavl", in our opinion, the best in Pereslavl-Zalessky of those in which we stayed. Not ideal (ideal I almost do not know), but best overall very many factors.
Main advantages:

  1. Good value for money.
  2. Great discounts when booking on the hotel website and Booking (including the "Birthday" promotion - 20% discount on accommodation, as well as a bottle of champagne and a fruit basket as a gift - valid for seven days before the date of birth and ten days after it upon presentation of a passport).
  3. Excellent location in the city center, within walking distance to many attractions and city infrastructure (shops, ATMs, cafes, etc.).
  4. Excellent breakfast buffet included in the price.
  5. Excellent service, very pleasant, professional staff, cleanliness and order.
  6. Having your own travel agency (booking excursions).
  7. Having a large parking lot.
  8. Fast free internet.
  9. Good food on the menu in the hotel cafe.
  10. Free children's playroom available.
  11. Free cots...

Well, and so on.
Yes, the numbers are imperfect. Fans of modern designs and interiors, ergonomically organized spaces may not like something in the rooms. BUT they are clean, comfortable, sleep well. And there is a choice - by category and location (windows to the courtyard or the road). This is not so little.
And I also like that oldest hotel Pereslavl develops, improves, thinks about the future. Cafes are opening, the facade and halls are being updated. There are further plans for the improvement of the surrounding area. So, the hotel will be even better and more attractive.
Do I recommend the Pereslavl Hotel? Yes, I recommend

  • to everyone who is looking for inexpensive accommodation in Pereslavl-Zalessky (with a good breakfast),
  • parents with children of different ages
  • big families,
  • tourists who want to get a quality excursion program,
  • tourist groups.

In general, everyone!

P.S. My husband asked me today in surprise why we had never stayed here before. The answer is simple. I usually book hotels on Booking.com. And in the search I set certain criteria. Rating - from 8. So the system did not give me the Pereslavl hotel. Their rating is slightly lower.
It's actually embarrassing. Good hotel, which has a lot of pluses, good and excellent reviews, leaving a pleasant impression, because of some subjective minuses (not fundamental for me personally) passed by. And she's not the only one. Our favorites in Veliky Novgorod,

We come with children

Pereslavl-Zalessky is a small town, but there are hotels here and there is also a choice, albeit a small one at all. On average, you should count on 2000-3000 rubles for a standard two local number in good hotel, suites are more expensive. You can stay cheaper only in motels and the conditions there will be simpler. As an option for a very inexpensive accommodation, you can consider staying in your own tent, either just somewhere in the forest or on the camp site. But in this post I will only talk about hotels.

Of the sights, it makes sense to run into the Iron Museum, the Museum of Steam Locomotives and other small museums. About what you can see in general, I wrote separately in a post - there is a whole list of interesting places.

I will only mention two important features. Firstly, the price of hotels on weekdays is cheaper than on weekends. Therefore, if you have the opportunity to go during the week, you can save money. However, which of the hotels will be cheaper, you need to look at specific dates, because the cost varies not only depending on the day of the week, but also on the month.

The second feature is that there are a small number of hotels, so it makes sense to book a room in advance, otherwise everything may be already booked the day before. At least in the summer season, this is exactly how I myself encountered it when I searched for hotels on the Internet day after day. In the course, the exception to the rule is, because there are as many as 60 standard rooms, not counting suites and family rooms. But I’ll tell you about it below, since it was in it that we eventually stopped to spend the night.

Where to stay in Pereslavl-Zalessky

I tried to arrange the hotels in ascending order of price, but it's better to check each time, because the cost will differ depending on the date. One hotel will be cheaper on weekends, another on weekdays. Prices are for the weekend.

If you want to search for other hotels in Pereslavl-Zalessky, it is convenient to do this using a service that shows prices for the same hotel in different booking systems. You can compare and choose the best offer.
