For those who are going on a tour trip to the Czech Republic in winter, I decided to write some of my ideas on how to spend the winter holidays in the Czech Republic.

1. The capital of the Czech Republic is Prague.

Prague is beautiful at any time of the year. You can check this on your own experience by walking around Prague on your own. But keep in mind that during the Christmas holiday itself, many things are closed. Czechs love Christmas and don't want to work. They can be understood. Christmas in Europe is a family holiday, unlike the New Year. Meeting the New Year is an occasion for noisy fun.

Be sure to visit the Old Town Square. Every year a very beautiful Christmas tree is set up there and a Christmas market is held there. Taste different kinds fried sausages, hot wine and other Czech delicacies.

Here is a short list:

Most full list cities of the Czech Republic is represented.

Unfortunately, many castles and castles in the Czech Republic are already closed until April-May next year.

Here is a small list of the most interesting castles and castles that will be open to tourists in winter.

Many medieval ruins of Czech castles can also be seen in winter, as they are not closed. They just can't be closed. But keep in mind getting to them through the snow in the forest can be quite a challenge. It is better to leave them until the summer.

Attention! Before traveling, be sure to check the schedule of each particular attraction on its official website, which is listed to the right of it. The approximate distance from Prague is indicated in brackets.

3. The world famous Spa Karlovy Vary

Winter is not a hindrance to visit this world famous resort Karlovy Vary and stroll through its streets outside tourist season. Founded by the Czech king Charles IV in 1358, this city is famous for its 12 healing springs, porcelain and Becherovka medicinal liqueur. A very comfortable bus runs from Prague to Karlovy Vary from the central bus station in Prague - Florence - http://www.studentagency.cz/. Travel time is approximately 2 hours.

I found this amazing photo on the Internet. Thanks to the author.

4. Cesky Krumlov - a medieval gem of the Czech Republic.

Cesky Krumlov is small and cozy town, is one of the most colorful cities in Europe. It outwardly retained its original medieval image. In winter, Cesky Krumlov has its own special charm. Fairy streets medieval city seem even more amazing when a light snowball covers them.

There is also a bus to Cesky Krumlov from Prague from the central bus station Florence - http://www.studentagency.cz/
Travel time is approximately 3 hours.

5. And in the Czech Republic in winter you can go skiing in the mountains.

In winter, life is sometimes in full swing in Czech ski resorts, the most famous of which are Spindleruv Mlyn (in the center of the Krkonoše Mountains - the most picturesque mountainous area), Pec pod Snezhkoy in the eastern part of the Krkonoš and the resort of Liberec, in the Jizera Mountains. Winter sports fans, especially skiing and snowboarding, they will find excellent conditions for skiing there, as well as prices that are very pleasant for the family budget.

In addition, very attractive ski resort Lipno. On the slopes different levels You can learn the complexity yourself or teach your child on ski courses or admire the international competitions of professionals. In addition, adrenaline lovers will be able to experience the bobsleigh track, ice skating with a wonderful view of the "South Bohemian Sea" - Lake Lipno, or visit the Aquaworld water park.

6. Trip to Dresden.

If you are already tired of the Czech Republic, then it is quite possible to take a day trip by train to german city Dresden. The city, formerly known as "Florence on the Elbe", is famous throughout Europe for its magnificent architecture and artistic treasures. The train to Dresden comes from the central railway station Prague. You can also use the bus (Florence Central Bus Station). It's a little cheaper.

Christmas (in German Weihnachten). Christmas is preceded by four Advents - four weeks of waiting for the holiday and preparation for it. Be sure to celebrate the four Sundays before Christmas - Adventsontags (Adventsonntags). For Advent, there is a special decoration - a wreath of fir branches with flowers, fruits or toys (whatever you like) and four thick candles. The wreath lies on the table, and each Adventzontag is lit on it with a candle: in the first - one candle, in the second - two, and so on. Very nice, cozy and a little mysterious. Indeed, the expectation...

From the first Advent, Christmas markets begin to operate. Dresden Striezelmarkt - Striezelmarkt is one of the most colorful Christmas markets in Germany! What is not here! All kinds of Christmas decorations, traditional wooden toys and Christmas pyramids, Stollen (this is the name of the Dresden Christmas cake with raisins, somewhat reminiscent of our Easter cake, only more porous and of a different shape) and, of course, the indispensable hot mulled wine (the Germans call it gluwein) - hot red wine with spices. Almost throughout Germany, the main dish at the Christmas market are various sausages. In Frankfurt, they resemble Russian sausages, in Nuremberg they are traditionally short, and are placed in a roll of three pieces, but in Munich they are very fond of thick white sausages. In addition, souvenir gingerbreads in the form of hearts with various inscriptions are sold everywhere.

A large Christmas tree and a tall Christmas pyramid are installed in the center of the market. The Christmas pyramids are a special tradition right here in Saxony. The fashion for them more than three hundred years ago was brought by carvers from the Erzgebirge (this mountain range near Dresden).

On the territory of the Dresden Castle, you can still visit a special medieval Christmas market, the entrance there is paid (about 1 euro). There, in addition to various kinds of treats, you can watch a small performance.

Usually Christmas markets open on Friday four weeks before Christmas, and last until the holiday itself. Tents, depending on the market, open at 10-11 am and close at 8-10 pm. It is worth noting that you can’t buy anything cheap at Christmas markets, because the prices there are higher than in the shops located in the neighborhood.

In addition, you can visit the capital of Austria - Vienna. Also by bus or train central station. Vienna Christmas Market - Vienna's classic Christmas market, one of the most famous and most visited in Europe, attracting millions of visitors with endless rows of wooden pavilions selling handmade decorations, gingerbread and scented natural wax candles. The fair itself is more than 700 years old, it starts working from mid-November.

In my opinion, the Christmas Market in Dresden is more interesting than in Vienna. There is a wide variety of food and drinks. Everything is just perfectly organized. At the same time, Vienna is more interesting to visit as a city. Simply amazing architecture with wide boulevards and huge palace complexes.

7. A trip to the medieval Tavern Detenice.

You will feel what it was like to be a commoner in the Middle Ages. To do this, you will be invited to a tavern, where you will be greeted with a rude “What are you going to eat?”, You will be led through rooms with floors covered with straw. The whole evening you will be entertained by local actors and musicians - http://detenice.cz/

8. A trip to the city of Kutna Hora.

The Gothic city of Kutna Hora in the Middle Ages was not only the second capital of the Czech Kingdom, but also the center of European silver mining and coinage.

In Kutna Hora you can see such masterpieces gothic architecture, as: Cathedral St. Barbara in the style of "flaming" Gothic, the Royal Mint, the Archdeanery of St. James and the unique chapel-bone, the entire interior of which is made of human bones and skulls.

To apply for a visa, you must go through the procedure for taking biometric data (fingerprints and digital photography) at the visa center.

Czech Republic - heart old Europe. No country on the European continent has preserved so many buildings and cultural traditions in their original form. " Golden Prague”is not inferior to Vienna. Resting in the Czech Republic, you should remember that the city tax has been introduced in the country and deposits are provided in many hotels.
4 large rivers flow in the country, 2500 castles are located, more than 50 resorts operate, mountains and springs compensate for the absence of the sea. Tours to the Czech Republic are popular all year round: the capital and resorts, museums and palaces, restaurants and breweries are visited by millions of guests.

Sightseeing tours of cities and castles
The territories of the kingdoms of Bohemia, Moravia and the Principality of Silesia have preserved their pre-war charm; excursions to local cities, castles and nature reserves impress experienced tourists.

Prague is a city of 100 towers, gothic and baroque buildings, bright roofs and glossy pavements, majestic bridges, cozy gardens (local parks) and atmospheric restaurants. The romantic part of the city is located on the left bank of the Vltava - Mala Strana and Hradcany Castle. The right-bank part of the capital attracts tourists with the Old and New Towns, cathedrals and squares.

Brno - ancient capital Moravia is interesting for its luxurious cathedrals, squares that have preserved ancient monuments, museums and the Spielberg castle, the city hall and karst caves.

Traveling through castles can be singled out as a separate itinerary or included in excursion tours. Since medieval fortifications are excellently preserved in absolutely all regions of the Czech Republic, you can visit nearby fortresses in any city. It is worth seeing the interiors of palaces and well-groomed gardens, visiting museum expositions and viewing platforms.

Most beautiful castles Czech Republic:

  • Deep-over-Vltava;
  • Karlstein;
  • Krumlov;
  • Krivoklat;
  • Konopiste;
  • Orlik;
  • Lednice;
  • Telc;
  • Chateau Baroque;
  • Khvalsky;
  • Litomysl;
  • Mnichovo-Gradiste.

You can get acquainted with the sights of the Czech Republic at any time of the year, but the most picturesque period is spring and autumn.

Treatment and SPA in Czech spas
Rehabilitation and relaxation in hotels and spa resorts in thermal springs with mineral water takes place in Karlovy Vary and Marianske Lazne. Tours to the resorts of the Czech Republic have been popular with Europeans and Russians since the days of Austria-Hungary.

In Karlovy Vary composition mineral water is identical in a dozen sources, but carbon dioxide saturation and temperature are different. Vacationers drink water and take therapeutic baths in numerous sanatoriums and spa hotels. The city has a polyclinic, a balneological clinic, pump-rooms.

Marianske Lazne (ex Marienbad) - the second most popular balneological resort Czech Republic, located next to Karlsbad (less than 50 km). There are 40 springs here, and another 100 are located in the district. For wellness procedures, local peat and mud, inhalations with healing gas, and baths are used.

You can relax with the whole family, improving your health and gaining new impressions, at any time of the year. In summer, the number of tourists is much larger.

Gastronomic tours to the Czech Republic
During the winter holidays (from mid-December to mid-January), the number of travelers in the country increases, and gastronomic tours in the off-season will bring more fun. Gourmets will not be able to resist getting acquainted with local treats and iconic Czech drinks:

  • beer;
  • slivovitz (brandy);
  • Moravian wines;
  • fragrant Becherovka;
  • herbal absinthe.

Taste pork knuckle, sweet and sour soups in bread, dumplings with cabbage and local cheeses are invited by city restaurants and pubs. At fairs and festivals, the squares of the old town, tourists can taste Czech pastries and sweets. For beer, you can go to the brewery and taste the best varieties, because the drink in pubs is seriously inferior to it in taste and often does not meet the expectations of tourists.

Winter tours
winter lovers active rest come to mountainous areas countries, here the season begins in December and ends in the height of spring. Most often, tourists buy ski tours to the resorts of the Krkonose, Harrachov, Spindlerov Mlyn and Liberec. Well-equipped mountain slopes, pubs, baths and entertainment for the whole family attract sportsmen and amateurs from all over Europe.
