Although daytime temperatures are around 20°C, it gets noticeably colder after sunset.

The infrastructure on the territory of the resort towns is remarkably developed; if necessary, you can easily buy goods for children in stores.

bathing season very long, lasts from May to November. The best time to visit the island is in June. At the beginning of summer, there is practically no precipitation, refreshing breezes blow from the sea, the sun is not yet hot, and it is easily tolerated by both adults and children. Sea water temperature at the end of May and June is the most comfortable, it does not exceed 27 degrees. The mild sun does not burn the skin, gives a beautiful tan. In June, Cyprus is buried in lush greenery and flowers. Children at the beginning holiday season will feel great, even people suffering from heart and lung ailments can visit the island in June.

In July, the time of heat sets in Cyprus. The air temperature exceeds 40 degrees, sea water is heated up to 30 degrees. Vacationers in July are better off spending most of their time in the water, and sunbathing in the morning and evening hours. warm water not only suitable for bathing children, but also for snorkeling or water sports. You need to be careful when relaxing on the island in July with children, and it is advisable for the elderly and people with chronic diseases not to travel at all in the middle of summer.

It is wonderful to be with a child in Cyprus in October. In autumn, mild, warm weather sets in on the island with a minimum of precipitation. The air temperature is about 25 degrees, the sea is gentle and calm. In September and October, a harvest of sweet and juicy fruits and vegetables ripens in Cyprus, which will certainly appeal to children. Also in October, Cyprus hosts many festive events on a grand scale. Together with the kids on October 1, you can watch the military parade in honor of the independence of the island, attend festive performances and concerts, and on the 28th visit events organized for Greece Day. Plus, in October, tour operators reduce prices for trips to Cyprus.

The resorts of Cyprus are included in the list of the most suitable places for families with children. The main advantages of the Greek island:

  1. It is sunny almost all year round on the island, heavy rains are a rarity. Children spend most of their time outdoors, in the warm sea. It is important not to forget to protect the delicate skin of babies from ultraviolet solar radiation. Apply sunscreen every hour, and in June, when the sun is at its zenith, even more often.
  2. Both for adults and children in Cyprus there is a lot of entertainment for every taste and budget. The leisure industry on the island is well developed, the organization of entertainment events is carried out at the highest level.
  3. Salts in water mediterranean sea have healing properties, so the Cypriot resorts are suitable not only for relaxation, but also for the recovery of sick children. The water near the coast warms up well, the bottom is shallow enough, suitable for kids to learn to swim. It is only important to ensure that sea salts do not corrode the skin of the child, wash it more often in the shower.
  4. Cyprus offers vacationers a plentiful selection of fruits and vegetables. At the end of the holiday season, in September and October, a local inexpensive product appears on the shelves: ripe strawberries, fragrant melons, juicy peaches.

Cyprus does not have big shortcomings in the organization of resort activities, and minor disadvantages are unlikely to spoil the mood of parents and children. Adults need to pay special attention to the health of their children who find themselves in an unusual environment:

  1. The body of young children, especially those under five years old, is very difficult to acclimatize. The kid finds himself in an unfamiliar environment with a different climate and food. Getting used to a new place can take up to a week, during which time the child shows symptoms similar to food poisoning or a cold. Parents observe allergic rashes, cough, runny nose, sneezing, dizziness, nausea, weakness in children, which disappear without a trace after 5-7 days. In order for the child to have a good rest after acclimatization, it is advisable to go to Cyprus for a period of at least three weeks.
  2. Do not travel with children in the winter. The children's body, getting used to the hot climate of the island, the abundance of the sun, will certainly fail upon returning home. Colds in this case can not be avoided. The climate transition should be smooth, so it is better to plan a trip to Cyprus in the warm season: in May, June, September or October.

We are in Cyprus with a child

The answer is unequivocal - yes, holidays in Cyprus with a child available. Arguments in favor of traveling to Cyprus with children:

Psoft beaches and clear sea . Most of the beaches in Cyprus are ideal for children: gently sloping beaches, clear water, well-developed infrastructure with sun loungers, umbrellas, toilets and lifeguards.

Gorgeous beaches (but not all) and the cleanest sea in Cyprus

Friendly attitude towards children . In taverns and cafes, there is usually a high chair available, and sometimes a playground. In public places, they can give something to the child ( balloon, typewriter).

Our 7-month-old child in the restaurant was perfectly accommodated in a highchair

H Availability of parks and playgrounds. Parks are located mainly in cities, and playgrounds can also be found in resort villages. At hotels and taverns, playgrounds for children's fun are also often organized.

Small playground in Polis

Entertainment . In Cyprus, various thematic events have been created for children and adults. amusement parks: water parks, amusement parks, zoos, oceanarium, camel park, bird park, donkey park, enclosures with moufflons.

Easy to move around with a stroller . Along coastline promenades are equipped for walking. Many beaches have wheelchair access.

Promenade in Limassol

Minimum Crime. The streets are absolutely safe.

Cyprus with children: where is it better to go on vacation?

Where is it better to relax with a child in Cyprus:

Protaras. One of the best resorts for holidays in Cyprus with children. Gentle beaches with turquoise water, developed infrastructure, calm resort village.

Central Beach in Protaras

Ayia Napa . A party resort, an ambiguous place for a trip to Cyprus with a child. It depends on which area and near which beach the accommodation is chosen. Beaches where I would not relax with a child: Latchi Adams (rocks and garbage), Nissi Beach (a lot of drunken youth, but the beach is beautiful) and some beaches in the vicinity (rocks). Take a closer look at the beaches: Makronissos (east), Landa, Vathia Gonia, Pernera A, Pantachu, Glyki Nero. The key is to choose a hotel away from the bar area.

We are with a child on Makronissos beach (one of the best in Ayia Napa or even in all of Cyprus)

Larnaca. A good option for families with children in Cyprus. From the pros: near the airport (short to get to the hotel), Big city(respectively, the presence of supermarkets where you can buy food and diapers). The beaches in the city are not bad, in Larnaca Bay along the Dhekelia highway on sandy beaches there are small amounts of pebbles.

Finikoudes beach in the center of Larnaca

Limassol. Can be considered as a vacation with a child. Limassol is the most Big City Cyprus on the coast. There are many parks (including a water park and a zoo), playgrounds, entertainment, shops with children's goods. Equidistant from both airports in Cyprus (≈65 km from each). Cons: the most expensive resort in Cyprus; some beaches are pebbly, and those that are sandy are gloomy grey. But children don’t care what color the sand is on the beach 🙂

Not the prettiest beaches in the center of Limassol, but kids love it

Pathos. In general, the Paphos resort is suitable for families with children. This is a residential city with a developed infrastructure and large shops, near the airport. But you need to carefully consider the choice of the beach closest to the hotel, as here they can be both sandy and rocky, not quite suitable for swimming. Also, in some parts of the city, the beaches are concreted areas - this is certainly not the best place in Cyprus for children.

Sandy beach SODAP in Paphos

coral bay. The resort village is quite suitable for families with children. Here there are several large hotels and cottage complexes. Excellent gently sloping sandy beaches of Corallia and Coral Bay, developed resort infrastructure.

Policy. The resort can be boring for a holiday in Cyprus with children. The infrastructure is rather poorly developed. The only large supermarket is Papantonio with a small selection of baby food and diapers. Polis is located away from the coastline, you have to walk or drive to the beach. The beach is equipped, sand and pebble with a playground. Not far from Polis there are small villages on the seashore: Latchi (Latchi), Agraka, Pomos. As in Polis, the beaches are sandy and pebbly with a significant amount of pebbles.

How to choose accommodation for families with children in Cyprus

Main housing requirements when traveling to Cyprus with children:

  • Availability of a baby cot (if relevant for age).
  • The presence of a children's pool.
  • Good soundproofing in the rooms and no noise from the street.
  • The cleanliness of the room and the hotel.
  • Children's animation.
  • Babysitting services.
  • The presence of a playground and / or a children's room.
  • Distance to the nearest organized beach.
  • The presence of positive feedback, especially from parents vacationing with children.

If you are planning a trip tour, it is more convenient to buy tickets through special sites. Without leaving home, you can analyze real prices directly from tour operators, read hotel reviews, and then book online. In the office of agencies, there is usually not enough time to fully study the reviews, and at home no one is in a hurry. Plus the prices are transparent.

The largest tour sales websites online:

  • – a large number of offers, a convenient website and round the clock service customer support.
  • - prices for the same tours are cheaper than on other sites.
  • - another good site, you can check the prices here before buying.

If you fly on one's own, then to book accommodation you will need the following sites:

  • Booking is the main site for booking hotels in Cyprus.
  • Airbnb- a site for renting private housing: apartments and villas (when registering via the link, a welcome coupon for a $$ discount).

Examples of our accommodation in Cyprus for 30-40€ for 1-2 rooms + living room and kitchen (in high season, these options may be more expensive)

Rules for transporting strollers and infant carriers on an airplane

In each airline, the conditions for the carriage of children and children's accessories are individual, therefore, below are described average rules. More exact information need ask the airline, with which a flight to Cyprus is planned.

Conditions of carriage a child on an airplane depends on his age:

  • Up to 2 years (infant)- the child can fly without a separate seat (on the lap of the parent). In this case, the transportation of the baby is either free of charge or a small fixed fee is paid. If there is more than one child under 2 years old per adult, then the second, third, etc. The baby needs to purchase a separate ticket. In this case, tariffs will apply as for the category of children from 2 to 12 years old. Baggage: often, for infants, airlines allow additional free transportation of a stroller or cradle, as well as a small bag with a change of clothes, diapers and meals for the duration of the flight.
  • 2-12 years old– a separate seat is purchased for a child, but, depending on the pricing policy of the airline, discounts may be provided.
  • Children over 12 years old– the fare is applied as for adult passengers.

From personal experience authors . When flying to Cyprus with a child, we planned to use the car during the entire period of our stay on the island. A child was carried on the plane in a baby carrier, which for a baby could be taken with you to the cabin for free. In the same infant car seat, the child traveled with us all over Cyprus every day for 3 weeks. They didn’t take a base with wheels (a stroller), but used a hipsit backpack for hiking (it periodically flashes in the photo in this article).

Features of car rental in Cyprus for trips by children

According to the rules in Cyprus in a moving car, children are:

  • up to 135 cm- must be in a special chair/booster according to the weight category;
  • from 135 cm to 150 cm- can only be located in the back seats;
  • over 150 cm- can be placed as rear, so on front seat.

Regardless of the location of the seat, children should always be fastened seat belts.

Rental prices car seats, car seats and boosters depends on the pricing policy of a particular rental company and the season. Average rental price from 0 -5 € per day or 0-20€ for the entire rental period.

  • Myrentacar- the best, in our opinion, site for car rental in Cyprus. Collects proposals from large and small local companies. The support service is top notch. It was through this site that we booked a car when we traveled with a child. The review was written.
  • - another good site, but it works more with large and international companies. Didn't use it themselves.
  • rentalcars- the principle of operation is the same as the previous one, but prices may be slightly higher. Booked on one of my old trips to Cyprus. The experience was described.

It is highly desirable to choose a car with automatic box(in Cyprus, left-hand traffic and right-hand drive cars, with mechanics it will be difficult to shift gears) and air conditioned(without it in the heat it is very difficult, especially for a child).

From the personal experience of the authors. We rented a car in advance on the Myrentacar website with a pick-up and drop-off point at Larnaca Airport. As already mentioned above, they used their own car seat, which they carried on the plane for free.

What to see with children in Cyprus

In Cyprus, you can see the following attractions that children may like:

Ancient cities and sites . It will be useful for schoolchildren to visit ancient ruins in order to have an idea of ancient world. Most interesting locations: ancient city with mosaics of Nea Paphos and the Tombs of the Kings in Paphos, the ancient city of Kourion near Limassol.

Cape Greco. An interesting walk along (Cavo Greco) with beautiful views, bays, grottoes. Located near Ayia Napa and Protaras. With older children it will be interesting to ride ATVs here. There is an open sun on Cape Greco, it is advisable to choose the time to visit in the late afternoon or in the morning. It is possible with a stroller, but not very comfortable, since the path to the observation deck to the peace monument is rocky.

Avakas Canyon . An amusing trip along the gorge near Paphos. You can walk along the canyon with children who already know how to crawl over rocks. Wheelchair is not an option. With babies in a sling / kangaroo, you can easily master some of the way. But from the parking lot to the gorge itself, you need to walk about a kilometer through an area open to the sun.

Akamas reserve . Located on a peninsula near Polis. From Ayia Napa, Protaras and Larnaca, it is quite a long drive, it can be difficult for small children. Plus, you need to get to the sights of the peninsula in an off-road vehicle along a bumpy road above sheer cliffs (not every parent can mentally stand that his baby will drive along this shaking over a cliff). Teenagers will most likely enjoy it here. Especially if you make a trip around the peninsula on ATVs. And for younger children, it is better to choose another place.

Troodos mountains. Far from Ayia Napa, Protaras, a little closer, but not much, from Paphos and Larnaca and conveniently from Limassol. Children may like viewing platforms and waterfalls: Milomeris, Kantara, Mesapotamos and Caledonia (until the last one you have to walk a little more than a kilometer along the riverbed, you can’t go with a stroller, the rest are not far from the parking lot). There are enclosures with moufflons, you can walk around, look at these artiodactyls in their natural habitat. It will be great to stop by the charming village of Kakopetria with an old water mill, and also look into the museum railway Cyprus, where you can climb into an old trolley and a mail car.

Toddlers with their parents at the Caledonia waterfall

From the personal experience of the authors . We watched all the sights of Cyprus with the child, regardless of his age. Places with a long stay in the open sun tried to visit in the evening. In our opinion, the success of such trips depends most of all on the willingness of the parents themselves to travel with their children.

Excursions in Cyprus with children

Excursions are group(by bus with other tourists) and individual(for an individual family/company on private car guide). With children, the second option is more convenient, and for a large family it can also be cost-effective, since the price is usually indicated for the entire excursion, and not per person.

Sites where you can pre-book a tour:

Sun protection

dangers that lie in wait for children and adults in the heat:

  • Sunstroke.
  • Heatstroke.
  • Sun burns.

How to protect yourself:

Headdress . Be sure to wear a panama / cap / scarf / bandana for the child.

Clothing made from natural fabrics . To reduce the chance of overheating, wear cotton clothing for your child.

Sunscreen . Use creams based on zinc oxide and titanium dioxide (recommended by pediatrician E.O. Komarovsky), since these compounds are the least safe for sensitive children's skin and do not penetrate into the bloodstream. Before the child reaches the age of 6 months, the use of sunscreen is not recommended by doctors.

Umbrellas and awnings . When walking with babies in a stroller, use a hood. On the beaches of Cyprus, rent a sun umbrella (price - 2.5 € per unit for the whole day). The right to use it is fixed even if you leave for lunch / break (keep the receipt). If you have a rest for more than 6 days, then it is more profitable to purchase a personal umbrella at retail outlets near the beaches (10-15 €).

First aid kit for a child in Cyprus

We will give an example of our children's first aid kit (most of the items from the list are based on the recommendations of the famous pediatrician E.O. Komarovsky). You can add or remove something at your discretion, taking into account the characteristics and age of the child.

Holidays in Cyprus with children: our reviews

We travel quite a lot (30+ countries), so we can safely say that this is an excellent choice of country for families with children.

If we went on a beach holiday to Cyprus with a child next time, we would choose the resort of Protaras (Fig tree and Vrissi beaches), Ayia Napa (the beaches of Makronissos, Landa, Vatia Gonia, Pernera A, Pantachou with a hotel away from the street of bars, Glyki Nero) or Coral Bay (the beaches of Coral Bay and Corallia). For would choose a hotel with apartments (that is, with a kitchenette) or a private apartment.

For a baby under 2 years old, food would be partially prepared on the spot from Cypriot vegetables, and some ready-made baby food (especially meat) would be brought from home in case of an excursion or trip to the sights. For a child a little older, we would not bother so much, we would cook on the spot or feed him in a restaurant.

We would definitely take it with air conditioning (in principle, we always do this when visiting Cyprus) and travel around the island with a child in comfort and according to a schedule that is convenient for us.

Regardless of the age of the child, they would visit any sights of interest, but not everyone would choose entertainment. For the baby - zoos (in Paphos, Limassol) and theme parks with animals and marine life(donkey park, camel park), playgrounds and amusement parks with attractions for the smallest (can be found in any city and resort village). For a child of primary school age, water parks (Ayia Napa, Limassol, Paphos) and amusement parks (Ayia Napa, Limassol, Paphos) would be additionally considered, and a teenager would definitely be taken there.

Our family in the Troodos mountains in Cyprus

In this article, we tried to give detailed information on the topic of traveling to Cyprus with a child: which resort is better to choose, hotels, entertainment, what to see, where to buy baby food, diapers and their range, how to protect your health, how to travel around the island with kids by car And much more. If you have any questions regarding holidays with children in Cyprus in 2019, ask them in the comments.

Is a quiet family vacation possible in Cyprus. By family vacation we mean something like this - a young couple with children of preschool or primary / secondary school age, interests - the sea, the sun, fruits, without nightclubs and discos, live in an apartment or hotel near the sea with the ability to eat both at home and and periodically go out to cafe-restaurants.

I will try to figure it out and advise on my experience places and Cyprus resorts on which such a family will be well. And also, in what period it is worth going to rest, so that the water is warm and a minimum of violent English party-goers and the prices are not exorbitant.

I'll start in the southeast Cyprus and finish where the sun goes down. That is, I will go from Protaras and Ayia Napa before Paphos and Polis.

Priorities are beach holidays, not long and not tiring excursions and maximum entertainment for children.

Family holidays in Protaras

Family holidays in Ayia Napa

It is considered a noisy youth resort, but I boldly recommend it for the beach and sea recreation especially in May-June and autumn.

Advantages of Ayia Napa

  • The best beaches in Cyprus are in Ayia Napa
  • close to many natural attractions - sea caves, beautiful rocks, nature Park- Cape Greco
  • an endless choice of inexpensive apartments that allow you to cook food independently and not depend on prices in cafes and restaurants. Optionally, of course.
  • the best hotels by the sea are also in Ayia Napa
  • a lot of entertainment for family and children's recreation, you can read in detail in the article dedicated to family holidays in Ayia Napa

Pantachou Beach - Ayia Napa, city beach

Disadvantages of Ayia Napa

In July-August, this is a rather noisy and crowded resort, especially in the area.

AT Paphos slightly less good beaches, than in Ayia Napa, and those that are - are located at a distance from the city center. The best beach in Paphos - Coral Bay is located away from the city center, it can be reached by bus number 615 from Paphos harbor (quay)

Coral Bay - the best beach in Paphos

Advantages of Paphos

  • Paphos has its own small international Airport and if there are flights from your city there, it is very convenient to organize a transfer
  • a lot of first-class hotels on the first line on both sides of the embankment and the city center;
  • a lot of children's entertainment; among the most requested Paphos water park, zoo and various water activities, walks to water caves;
  • the beaches are small, but sandy and very cozy, there are no highways close to the beaches, which allows you not to worry about children
  • there are many historical and natural attractions near Paphos
  • if you are relaxing with older children, take and go on a family walk on, there wild nature and famous; located near Paphos - it is also interesting to go there on an excursion with children

Disadvantages of Paphos

  • if you arrive at the main airport of Cyprus - Larnaca, then in Pathos longer to get than to Ayia Napa or Protaras, about 1.5 hours by car, and by bus is not an option at all;
  • in Paphos there are no such white sand beaches as in Ayia Napa

Family holidays in Latchi

Less hyped and less popular Cyprus resort - Latchi which I highly recommend for families with older children or just for couples without children. lachi- for those who like to alternate a relaxing beach holiday with active trips along the coast and into the mountains.

beach in Latchi, Cyprus

I did not see any shortcomings in this resort and will come here again. A long beach with light sand that changes color depending on the time of day, an excellent smooth entry into the water, a charming marina with yachts and fishing boats and a string of seaside restaurants aimed specifically at family relaxing holidays.

The biggest plus is the opportunity to rent a boat or a yacht and go on a sea voyage around with a landing on deserted beaches. Nearby for active families, the opportunity to explore the area on buggies or quad bikes.

It is possible to make one-day radial family trips to the mountains - at your disposal are several not very long car routes where you can go with your family.

For families with children choose end of May - June when the water has already warmed up to a comfortable 23-25 degrees, and there are still a few people or September October when prices are lower, and the temperature is the same as in May-June, but the water is warmer.

I deliberately do NOT recommend choosing Larnaca. As for me, this city with a beautiful promenade and sights is more suitable for one-day outings-excursions than for a long vacation. Although there are whole cottage settlements for a family holiday, but with a minimum of beach infrastructure and clayey gray sand. The entrance to the water there will be comfortable only for children from 2 to 5 years old, since you will have to walk at least a hundred meters in shallow water to an acceptable depth for swimming.

Limassol also poorly suited for families with children, this is a big city with its own charms and a promenade, but still, first of all, a business center, and then a beach holiday. Yes and beaches in Limassol not at all like those on the tourist avenues.

How to rent a car in Cyprus

On the Cyprus there are both expensive transnational rental offices and many small car rental companies. A very cool thing has appeared this season - all the leading local distributors are now united on the Myrentacar.com website. The site not only acts as a search engine for profitable rentals, but also helps in difficult situations and when various questions arise. There is Russian-speaking support. I personally checked both the prices and the cars. Recommend.

How to find an inexpensive hotel or apartment in Cyprus

I use the trusted Booking.com and aggregator site RoomGuru (HotelsCombined) . The choice of accommodation, even for such a small island as Cyprus, on these resources is huge, but I recommend booking in advance - best options diverge a couple of months before the high season (July-August).

How to buy cheap flights to Cyprus

One of the two international airports in Cyprus is Larnaca, which has many direct flights from Moscow, Kyiv, Riga, Tel Aviv and other cities. You can choose a flight and buy cheap air tickets on the website aviasales.ru. I recommend checking the availability of cheap flights on the low price calendar.

Holidays in Cyprus with children in a mild Mediterranean climate are annually chosen by a huge number of tourists from all over the world. During the summer months in Cyprus it is quite hot, but thanks to the constant sea breezes, the heat is well tolerated. What can not be said, for example, about holidays in Turkey. Many beaches have a gentle entry into the water, which ideal for families with children. Also on the island there are many entertainments that will appeal to children and their parents.

Those who are planning a vacation on the island should first of all pay attention to Protaras, Ayia Napa, Larnaca and Limassol. It is in these cities that it is best to relax with children in Cyprus.

Protaras

Protaras is small village with picturesque rocky bays, white sandy beaches and everything you need for a quiet and measured family vacation. Due to its location, Protaras is protected from blowing winds. Beaches with a gentle, even entrance to the water stretched along the entire coastline of Fig Bay. The bay got its name from the fig garden, which in spring is a very pleasant sight.

In addition to beaches with comfortable sun loungers and umbrellas, Protaras has an aquarium, which will be interesting to visit not only for children, but also for their parents. No noisy discos here open sky and large dance floors, but you can have enough enjoy local cuisine in numerous cafes, restaurants and bars.

Ayia Napa

A large resort town of Cyprus, literally full of its clean sandy beaches, where discos are often held in the evenings and at night. Ayia Napa in high season seething nightlife, this city usually chooses youth for active rest outdoors. But tourists with children also have a place to relax here. The main thing is to choose a hotel away from the city center, in a quieter place.

The beaches of Ayia Napa offer tourists not only swimming in the warm Mediterranean Sea, but also a number of additional services– diving and fishing, water attractions, catamarans and boats, surfing, jet skis. There are many restaurants in the city national cuisine, as well as shops with local vegetables and exotic fruits grown on the island.

Limassol

Limassol is great for families who beach holiday prefer various excursion programs with sightseeing of local attractions. This is a fairly large resort, in which there is a place for youth "parties", and quiet rest with family on small well-groomed beaches. Although the beaches here are not as picturesque as in many other places, the entrance to the water is mostly gentle and comfortable, and the water in the sea is very clean.

Many hotels arrange entertainment animation events for children, and if you get to the city center, you can go to the amusement park, the water park (there are several of them in Limassol), and the amusement park with a picturesque zoo. In the vicinity of the city, a camel farm is constantly open to the public.

Larnaca

Larnaca is the city where the majority of tourists arrive and has an international airport. There are many taxi call services in the city, with the help of which it is easy to order a transfer in Cyprus to Limassol, Protaras, Ayia Napa or any other resort.

The most popular city beaches are Mackenzie and Finikoudes. They are distinguished by their shallow water, clean and fine sand, which is sometimes diluted with shells or sea pebbles. It is pleasant to relax in Cyprus with children in the city of Larnaca, it has everything you need for a quiet family holiday, as well as for active entertainment in clubs and bars.
