Prohibited items in aircraft baggage. What can not be carried on the plane

Going abroad, many travelers ask themselves the question - what can not be taken on board the plane, but what can? The list of things prohibited for transportation is quite long.

To prevent customs officers from confiscating personal property, you should find out in advance what you can take on the plane, the rules of a particular carrier and customs (if the flight is international).

What can not be taken on a plane?

There are a number of rules common to all types of air travel:

  • When preparing for a trip, you should carefully study the conditions for transporting items of different groups, in some countries an attempt to violate these rules is punishable by law.
  • Each airline has its own rules for carrying personal belongings - they determine how much luggage you can take into the cabin. How many kilograms is allowed to take? Usually the total weight of things does not exceed 10 kg.
  • You need to check in luggage as many things as possible, leave especially valuable items with you - documents, mobile gadgets, money. AT hand luggage you can carry an umbrella, a cane, a stroller, outerwear. What stroller can you take? It is most reasonable to purchase a stroller-cane for flights.
  • What about a laptop? As practice shows, the safety of complex technical devices is a sore spot for many carriers. Therefore, it is permissible to take a laptop with you, there are usually no restrictions for portable equipment.

What is forbidden to take in hand luggage?

Hand luggage on an airplane is all things recognized as safe for passengers and their presence in the cabin will not cause inconvenience. The list of hazardous items is constantly changing, the exact information should be obtained shortly before the flight directly from the representatives of the carrier company.

It should be remembered that the found prohibited items will be confiscated, they will not be allowed to be taken on board the aircraft. Any wrangling with the staff, attempts to prove one's case (with an obvious fact of violation) will not lead to success - the risk of being late for your flight will be very high.

Some items are forbidden to take with you and this list is the same for all airlines:

  1. Flammable substances in liquid and solid form.
  2. Any types of weapons - traumatic, souvenir items, knives and daggers.
  3. radioactive items.
  4. oxidizing substances.
  5. Magnetized items.
  6. Poisons of plant and chemical origin.
  7. Children's toys imitating real weapons.

If any of the above items is found in the luggage, the passenger will not be allowed on the plane, even arrest is possible. Therefore, you should not take risks and try to deceive the customs officers.

The following items cannot be transported in the aircraft cabin: nail files, penknives, razors, syringes, tweezers and scissors. According to the rules of air transportation, these things are classified as piercing and cutting and pose a potential danger to passengers. They will not be taken from the traveler, but they will definitely be asked to put them in luggage.

Separately, the rules for transporting devices with external batteries should be clarified - there are special rules for transporting batteries, the so-called high-risk flights. In this case, the list of things that cannot be taken into the cabin of the aircraft will be significantly expanded, even personal items will be banned. As a rule, the status of such a flight is announced in advance. Baggage weight may also vary.

How to transport liquids?

The list of such liquids is long, however, airlines meet the needs of passengers and allow the carriage of water, lotions, gels and similar substances in containers with a capacity of up to 100 ml. Is it possible to take spirits? Cosmetics - mascara, lipstick, perfume - also fall into the category of liquids. All containers, bottles and tubes are placed in a tight plastic bag with a secure closure. No need to think that a half-empty bottle of water with a volume of 200 ml will not raise questions. It will automatically be considered complete and asked to post. In extreme cases, larger gels and shampoos can be sent in baggage.

An exception to the rule is products for children under two years of age. Often the baby needs a large amount of food, in excess of 1 liter. In this case, the passenger is allowed to take in hand luggage the required amount of food for the child, milk in a thermos. For children over two years old, sandwiches, apples, biscuits, sweets are allowed to be transported from food. Do not forget about the sense of proportion - a big cake with cream will cause a lot of trouble.

Most airlines offer a special children's menu, children are fed separately during flights that last more than three hours. You need to order a children's menu in the carrier's service department in advance.

What medicines can be taken?

Fazal E Azeem Nisar / Flickr.com

Liquid medicines are transported in the same way as other liquids - in 100 ml bottles, in a separate transparent bag with a zipper. It is not so easy to transport tablets and powders, the list of prohibitions and restrictions will be very long.

  • You can not take with you a lot of packs of pills, this will cause reasonable concern for the security personnel.
  • You can take antipyretic, antiallergic, painkillers, iodine, bandage and spray from the common cold.
  • Strong drugs, which contain psychotropic and narcotic substances, will have to be declared in a separate procedure, in addition, you must present checks from the pharmacy and detailed instructions applications.

The list of drugs that are considered potent is different in each country. Therefore, information on the rules for transporting medicines should also be clarified at the destination, and not only at home.

What food to take on the plane?

In some cases (promotional fares, short-term flights), meals on board the aircraft are not provided. Or there is an allergy to products in the onboard menu. Therefore, it makes sense to take food with you, but before that, you must definitely check the list of prohibited foods.

Usually flights without meals are short in time, so sandwiches, nuts and chocolate bars, vegetables and fruits will suffice. Whatever food you take, it must be appropriately packaged, bread and vegetables must be cut in advance - they will not be allowed to bring a table knife on board.

The list of products for transportation in baggage is much wider. However, they are also subject to customs rules, and for each country they will be specific. So, in a number of European countries, livestock products and a number of vegetables are banned to prevent the spread of infections.

Tourists heading to the US will need to leave the following items at home:

  • meat and any semi-finished products;
  • fresh eggs;
  • dairy products - cottage cheese, kefir, sour cream;
  • most vegetables and fruits;
  • canned foods;
  • any kind of fish.

Some countries have very specific restrictions. So, from tropical countries it is impossible to export the local fruit durian, which has a strong unpleasant odor. An attempt to transport fresh fruit is punishable by a large fine, but dried fruits are allowed for transportation.

We must not forget about the possibility of quarantine in the country: you should find out about a temporary ban on the import and export of livestock products, vegetables and fruits on the eve of the flight. You can bring products to Russia in small quantities, for personal use. Transportation of meat (no more than 5 kg), cheeses in dense packaging, hard vegetables and fruits is allowed.

Separate rules exist for the transport of fish and seafood. The following standards are provided for export from Russia: fish - 5 kg; sturgeon caviar - 250 gr. In order to avoid the spread of a specific smell, it is necessary to have a tight, reliable package.

Products from Duty free stores

Food products may be opened and eaten in the aircraft cabin. Non-food items and liquids purchased from Duti free must meet a number of requirements:

  1. Export of liquids purchased at the airport is allowed in Russia, EU countries, Kuala Lumpur, USA, Canada. In other countries, the possibility of export should always be clarified.
  2. All containers must be packed in the store's branded package.
  3. If there are one or more transfers along the route, packages cannot be opened.
  4. If the transplant is in the EU, drinks and gels purchased outside the EU will fall under the general rules of transportation. That is, large volumes of liquids can be confiscated.

For more information, you need to contact the representatives of the carrier, or call hotline, experts will definitely tell you about the features of goods in stores duty free and their transportation.

Alcohol - how to transport correctly?

First of all, it should be remembered that only adults can carry alcohol, and the age varies depending on different countries. The following rules apply for the transport of alcohol:

  • From abroad, you can bring 5 liters of alcohol for personal use;
  • If the volume does not exceed three liters - the import is duty-free, from three to five - the duty will have to be paid. Usually they charge 10 euros for each additional 1000 ml.
  • When calculating the volume, all alcohol is summed up - in luggage, hand luggage and purchases from Duti free;
  • Alcohol of own production will not pass through customs - each container must have a complete factory packaging;

For safety, glass containers should be wrapped with a special bubble wrap; at check-in, luggage should be checked out as especially fragile. To do this, a badge with the inscription “fragile” is attached to a suitcase or bag.

Video: what can you take on a plane?

Preparation is a guarantee of a successful flight

If you thoughtfully approach the fees, any trip will only be a joy. Situations are different, but if you follow the simple rules of air travel, your mood will not be spoiled by the nitpicking of customs officers. In the presence of non-standard things or animals, a conscientious airline will always meet the passenger and provide comfortable conditions for transportation.

At the end of last year, amendments were made to the general rules for the carriage of baggage by air.

According to the law, all Russian airlines should be subject to the same rules.

What are the rules for carrying baggage on an airplane in 2020?

The new baggage rules allow a bag/suitcase up to 30 kg for one passenger seat on the plane. For each passenger, according to the norms, individual baggage is issued.

In Russian and international airlines, it is customary to divide baggage into the following weight categories:

For a child under 2 years old, you can check out separate baggage up to 10 kg.

The allowable baggage weight depends on the ticket category:

  • In economy class - 20 kg per passenger.
  • In business class - up to 30 kg.
  • In the first class - up to 30 kg.

If the weight of baggage exceeds the allowable limits, it is called excess baggage; baggage over 30 kg - heavy.

Most carriers allow a slight overweight of 1-2 kg. If the excess weight is more than 2 kg, you will have to pay extra.

In case of excess baggage, the passenger pays extra for each extra kilogram. There are no uniform tariffs: each airline sets its own price.

Depending on the policy of the air carrier and the specific flight, the overweight surcharge can be calculated:

  • Based on the cost of the maximum economy class fare. With this approach, 1 kg of overweight costs 1.5% of the ticket price.
  • Based on a fixed amount set by the air carrier. On different flights, this amount may vary and ranges from 5-15 € per kg.

In addition to weight, baggage may exceed the norm in terms of dimensions, including the sum of 3 dimensions (length + height + width). This baggage includes:

  • sport equipment;
  • some musical instruments (double bass, guitar);
  • large household appliances.

The maximum dimensions of checked baggage for all classes must be 158 cm.

For the transportation of oversized cargo, a preliminary agreement with the airline is required. On the day of departure, it is recommended to arrive at the airport in advance, since it takes more time to check in such cargo.

The company may refuse to transport oversized cargo if there is not enough space in the luggage compartment.

How much does baggage cost on an airplane if the ticket is without baggage?

Many airlines provide a no-baggage service, according to which the passenger flies only with hand luggage.

The advantages of this service include a reduced cost of the flight. The downside is that the tickets are non-refundable.

It is allowed to carry any items in the baggage, except for those that are classified as dangerous in international practice. Their list is given in the ticket.

It is also important to understand that there is no single global baggage standard for all airlines. You need to focus on the country to which the passenger is flying.

For example, when flying to Dubai, it is forbidden to take on board objects and books of a religious orientation, except for Islam.

According to the rules, most airlines prohibit the transportation in the luggage compartment of the aircraft:

Most airlines do not allow you to take with you in the cabin mercury thermometer. It must be checked in as baggage, packed in a plastic case, and placed so that it is not damaged under any circumstances.

Most airlines prohibit the carriage of all types of knives, from penknives to kitchen and hunting knives. But there are also airports that allow the transportation of penknives and folding knives without fixation up to 6 cm long.

To carry knives longer than 10 cm (household, hunting, etc.) in your luggage, you must first obtain a special permit. If a knife is carried in baggage as a melee weapon, then it must also be in a case.

It is also allowed to transport in checked baggage, subject to the required conditions, such sharp objects as:

  • scissors;
  • razors;
  • swords and checkers;
  • bayonets and swords;
  • scimitars;
  • crossbows;
  • imitators of any type of weapon.

According to the rules of transportation, it is undesirable to put in baggage:

Important! Take these things with you in your hand luggage or leave them at home.

Aircraft baggage restrictions

Liquids include:

You can carry any of these liquids in your checked baggage.. There are no restrictions on volume, however, the general allowable weight limits must be observed (see above).

You can carry medicines in your baggage that are not prohibited by customs regulations and are on free sale, i.e. sold without a prescription.

Customs regulations prohibit the transport of narcotic and psychotropic substances on the plane. The presence of a prescription from a doctor indicating the dose requires such means as:

Under the official bans of many countries fall potent substances that may be contained in some medicines, for example, such as:

  • codeine;
  • phenobarbital, ;
  • pseudoephedrine;
  • chlorphenamine maleate;
  • diazepam.

The allowed amount of medicines on the plane is very conditional: for your own use for the period of travel. If more than 5 packs of medicines are found in the luggage, then the customs services will most likely have questions for the passenger.

To avoid fines and confiscations, get documents proving the need to transport medicines in these volumes.

All medicines transported on the plane must be in their original packaging, comply with the expiration date stated on the packaging.

Note! For unhindered transportation of insulin, a diabetic passport must be issued before the trip.

You can put food in the luggage of the aircraft, provided that:

  • This product is not included in the Customs Prohibited List (for international flights).
  • This product is not on the air carrier's list of restrictions.
  • The liquid product is not opened, hermetically sealed.

If a flight is made between countries, then the things and products being transported are subject to customs requirements for individuals. They are set by the host countries, and these requirements must be taken into account.

As for domestic flights, customs rules do not apply to such baggage.

Before traveling, you need to find out the requirements of the customs of the country of destination, as well as the country where the transfer is made.

Customs bans often concern epidemiologically dangerous products without factory packaging. For example, it is forbidden to import meat and dairy products into the EU countries; This measure was introduced to prevent the spread of infections.

U.S. customs does not allow a number of products from other countries, namely:

  • meat;
  • eggs;
  • fish;
  • milk products;
  • many types of vegetables and fruits.

To carry exotic fruits from southern countries in your baggage, you will need a special container so that they are not damaged during the flight.

On domestic Russian flights, you can carry in your baggage an unlimited amount of alcoholic beverages with a strength of up to 24 ° (but not more than the general weight norms for baggage).

Strong drinks (24–70 °) - up to 5 liters, while:

  • up to 3 liters of alcoholic beverages - duty free;
  • over 3 and up to 5 liters - with a surcharge at customs.

The single rate of the vehicle in excess of the norm of 3 liters is 10 € for each liter in excess of the norm.

These standards for individuals apply to any imported alcohol in baggage, including:

  • beer;
  • vodka;
  • champagne;
  • wine, etc.

You can transport alcohol on an airplane only in its original packaging.. Domestic wines, moonshine will be confiscated at customs.

In some countries, the restriction on the export of alcoholic beverages is even stricter. So, for example, from Hungary you can take out no more than 1 liter of strong alcohol (from 22%), and up to 2 liters of less strong alcoholic beverages.

An exception is made only for grape wine and beer: here the restrictions are less strict - you can take out up to 4 liters of wine and 16 liters of beer.

Alcohol with an alcohol content of 24-70% is allowed to be carried only in checked baggage, and this must be taken into account when traveling by Russian air carriers.

There is no limit on the number of cigarettes in checked baggage. The main rule is not to exceed the limits of the customs service of the country of destination.

It is forbidden for one passenger to bring into the territory of the Russian Federation more than:

  • 200 cigarettes (one block);
  • 50 cigars;
  • 250 grams of tobacco.

Important! Minors are strictly prohibited from carrying cigarettes.

These restrictions apply in all EU countries. In the US, the limits are as follows: a passenger aged 21 and over can carry up to 2 kg of tobacco (leaf).

As for electronic cigarettes, there are no restrictions on their transportation. Such a cigarette is equated with electronic devices such as a laptop or telephone.

Most airlines have a strict ban on lighters. You cannot carry in your checked baggage:

  • zippo lighters;
  • souvenir lighters, even if they do not contain a single gram of gasoline;
  • other types of "named" lighters.

You can take an ordinary lighter filled with liquefied gas with you on board the aircraft.

So, when planning a flight on domestic and international flights, be sure to study what and in what quantities you can carry in the luggage of the aircraft. The information provided above in the article will help in this matter.

Video: New rules for baggage and hand luggage on airplanes come into force

How much luggage can you take on a plane? Can I carry alcohol, perfumes, aerosols, medicines, cigarettes in my luggage? But what about food? Let's consider these questions in detail.

international rules for baggage does not exist, each air carrier regulates this issue independently. The airline may choose to carry baggage by seat or by weight.

  1. in economy class no more than 20 kilograms of baggage with its total linear size of 203 centimeters;
  2. in business class, with the same dimensions, it is allowed to take 30 kilograms with you.

If at least one parameter of your baggage does not fit into the established norms, the air carrier has the right to require additional payment. Children under ten years of age under such a system have the right to transport ten kilograms of things, and from the age of twelve they are already entitled to an adult norm for the carriage of goods.

The local system replaces the weight system, despite its obvious convenience. Aeroflot recently switched to it. Here transportation rules following.

  1. economy class allows you to take only one luggage space bag not heavier than 23 kilograms;
  2. in business class, the conditions are milder: two pieces of baggage weighing no more than 32 kilograms each.

The main difference of the luggage system is that the weight of luggage is not cumulative. For example, on a double flight in economy class, passengers carry two things weighing 15 and 25 kilograms. The extra two kilos will be counted as a third piece of baggage and paid in full. When planning luggage before travel, keep in mind that such an overload is paid at a high rate, comparable in price to a ticket.

Therefore, you should carefully calculate the weight of things.

requirements for maximum allowable sizes baggage in the local system is even stricter: the total linear size of the thing is not more than 158 centimeters.

Alcohol is not included list of goods prohibited for carriage on an aircraft, but there are still certain rules for it. So, in hand luggage, each adult passenger has the right to carry one liter of alcoholic beverages, regardless of their strength. The entire quantity is divided into several containers no more than 100 milliliters each. All bottles are packed in a plastic bag with a zipper.

It is forbidden to use them on board: the packaging must not be broken until the end of the flight. Breaking the rules can get you in trouble.

  • liquids not stronger than 24% are transported without restrictions, but without going beyond the general weight restrictions;
  • alcohol with a strength of 24 to 70%, not more than five liters per passenger;
  • alcohol stronger than 70% is prohibited for transportation.

Alcoholic drinks purchased before the flight in duty-free shops are allowed to be transported in hand luggage, but in a whole package with a saved receipt. In low-cost airline companies for carrying a package of alcohol from the store duty free will most likely have to pay.

In different countries, the norms for transporting alcoholic drinks can vary greatly, so please inquire about this issue separately before an international flight.

The same recommendations apply to the question of the rules for transporting cigarettes. However, each country sets its own standards, which should be guided by before flying. For example, when flying on the territory of the Russian Federation, only one cigarette block (10 packs of 20 cigarettes each), up to 250 grams of tobacco or no more than 50 cigars can be transported in hand luggage. In this case, the passenger must be 18 years old. Other countries have different age limits.

For example, in Egypt, a 15-year-old passenger may well carry tobacco products with him, but only those who are already 20 years old can fly to Japan with cigarettes.

As for medicines, it is allowed to carry medicines in solid form (capsules, powders, tablets) in hand luggage. Liquid medicines, as well as ointments, creams and gels, should be in original containers up to 100 ml, and then packed in a bag (necessarily transparent) measuring 20x20 centimeters.

When transporting prescription drugs or drugs containing psychotropic / narcotic substances, you will need to present a doctor's prescription, and for an international flight you must also declare such drugs. For passengers with an insulin-dependent form of diabetes, an exception is made: transport in hand luggage insulin vials, syringes and glucometers are allowed.

By the way, for international flights there is a list of drugs prohibited for transportation, and you should familiarize yourself with it before departure. For example, when flying to the USA, you will not be able to take Corvalol, which is familiar in Russia, on board.

On the domestic flights you can take solid food in the cabin if it fits in your hand luggage and does not exceed the weight. On international lines, follow the rules of the countries where you are going. Usually they are forbidden to carry eggs, fish, meat and dairy products.

The ban is connected with the fact that these products are perishable and can cause an infectious disease and even an epidemic.

Transportation of liquid products is regulated separately. These include, in addition to water and juices, canned food, jam, jelly, honey, sour cream, cottage cheese, sauces.

Most airlines regulate the carriage of liquids and limit it to one liter per passenger, poured into hermetically sealed bottles with a capacity of no more than one hundred milliliters. All other liquids, including cosmetics, deodorants, colognes, perfumes, mosquito sprays and shampoos, are checked in as baggage under the new rules.

  • weapons: cold, firearms, gas, stun guns;
  • explosives: dynamite, cartridges, pyrotechnics;
  • gases: liquefied, compressed in cylinders, aerosols;
  • flammable liquids: petroleum products, acetone, solvents;
  • solid flammable substances: matches, metal potassium, calcium, sodium;
  • poisonous and toxic: nicotine, arsenic, mercury;
  • caustic and rapidly corrosive: salts, acids, lime.

List of prohibited substances and subjects under the new rules is extensive. If you are planning to bring an unusual item on the plane, check this list in advance or consult with an airline representative. Compliance with such simple rules guarantees the safety of all passengers and the absence of problems during the inspection of luggage.

Passengers often carry "prohibition", doing this not intentionally, but simply, not knowing the rules of the flight thoroughly. If the airport security staff found prohibited items in hand luggage or baggage, and you don’t want to lose them, the situation should be resolved in the following ways.

  1. If a forbidden things discovered before check-in: give them to the accompanying persons, hand them over to the luggage room or send them by mail (there is a branch at each airport) to the right place.
  2. If prohibited items are found after the check-in procedure, then airline employees will offer a couple of options for resolving the misunderstanding: complete confiscation of the “prohibited item” or temporary seizure with the ability to pick up things after returning. Make sure that an act will be drawn up for items that are valuable to you, but prohibited from being transported, according to which you can get them back.

In any case, try to prove to the security service that this item is dear to you - there is always a chance that security officers will meet halfway.

What is forbidden to carry on the plane

Experienced travelers have long known that can't be taken on a plane and carry in baggage. People who travel rarely or for the first time do not always understand that there are special baggage requirements. At the same time, special requirements are imposed for hand luggage carried into the cabin of the aircraft.

Also have list of prohibited items in luggage and special rules of conduct on board the aircraft.

Many people know that it is allowed to enter the cabin of the aircraft only with a small luggage. The rest of the cargo must be checked into the luggage compartment. The usual things in a personal backpack or bag when preparing for a flight on an airplane are not perceived as something special.

At the same time, a number of items that people are accustomed to always have with them, prohibited for carriage in the cabin. Such things often cause controversy when boarding.

Attention girls! Items not allowed in carry-on baggage are manicure accessories and tweezers. They must be carried in checked baggage. Only a rounded nail file can be taken into the cabin of the aircraft, but not all airlines are allowed to carry it.

The same applies to deodorants, especially in the form of aerosols.

All that is definitely international air travel regulations. Arguing with the airport staff will get you nowhere - they're just doing their job. If you do not transfer the manicure set to your suitcase before checking in your luggage, then you will have to leave it - they will not be allowed into the salon with it.

The same applies to a number of other items. Prohibited items in hand luggage not a whim of the airlines - this is a way to ensure maximum flight safety. The following cannot be taken on a plane.

  1. fragile items
  2. Aerosol cans
  3. Liquids in a volume of more than 100 ml.
  4. Any object with sharp corners
  5. Toys and items imitating weapons
  6. Alcohol, excluding duty free purchases
  7. Medical and sewing needles, knitting needles and crochet hooks
  8. Any other things that can cause injury to passengers.

There are special conditions for liquids - a half-filled 200 ml container is not allowed for carriage. The container should not be more than 100 ml, regardless of its fullness. The exception is necessary during the flight medicines and baby food.

Medicines are not carried in the cabin according to the passenger - the need to carry medicines in large containers must be documented. It is worth highlighting solutions for contact lenses - they travel in luggage, only filled containers or mini-bottles can be taken in hand luggage.

If small solution bottles are used, they, like other liquids, should be placed in a transparent bag. Experienced travelers are advised to use plastic files with a lock, which simplify both transportation and inspection. It is worth remembering that the maximum volume of liquids, with the exception of baby food and medicines, should not exceed 1 liter.

The banned mobile devices included samsung galaxy Note 7. It is forbidden even in luggage compartment due to cases of self-ignition, sometimes leading to explosions of the device.

Special conditions! Information has already been received about new bans on the contents of hand luggage when flying with American and British airlines. Any equipment larger than a standard smartphone is not allowed to be transported.

At the same time, on most flights of other airlines it is allowed to carry portable computers and other equipment in the cabin.

These rules apply to all flights from countries in the Middle East where Islam is the dominant religion. This also applies to the states North Africa with the Muslim population. The rules apply not only to arrivals in America and Britain, but also on transit flights landing in these countries.

The ideal option for the right trip would be prior informing. It is necessary to clarify in advance with the airline everything that not allowed on the plane in checked baggage and hand luggage. There are uniform rules, but they sometimes change depending on the international situation.

There are quite strict criteria for hand luggage. Items that can be checked in as luggage are also subject to restrictions. For all airlines, without exception, there is an international list of items prohibited for transportation, even in baggage.

This list applies to individuals flying on passenger flights.

  1. Compressed and/or liquefied gases
  2. Weapons and various ammunition
  3. Any magnetized objects
  4. Toxic and radioactive materials
  5. Corrosive, corrosive, oxidizing substances
  6. Flammable liquids and solids
  7. Explosive materials and components for their manufacture.

In addition, there are internal transportation rules created by a particular airline. They cannot contradict the current international standards, but they are able to expand the list of prohibited items at their discretion.

Changes may apply to the luggage itself, and hand luggage. Sometimes it is forbidden to carry an umbrella in the cabin - it may be required to be checked in as baggage.

According to the rules for transporting umbrellas, there are no uniform requirements, so if you need to transport it, it is better to clarify this point with a particular airline.

It is worth clarifying in advance what you cannot carry in your luggage on an airplane, this will save your nerves, time and money. Persons transporting oversized cargo or animals must necessarily find out the possibility of their transportation. Now there are many airlines and even individual flights that do not allow the transport of animals.

It must be remembered that transporting animals on an airplane is very different from transporting animals on a train. It is necessary not only to collect all the required certificates and veterinary documents, but also to clarify the conditions for placing pets.

This is necessary in order to find the right cages and / or carriers for them during the trip.

For inexperienced travelers, it is important to remember that on different airlines there are restrictions on the size and weight of the goods checked in as baggage. The same applies to hand luggage carried into the cabin. Therefore, all information about prohibited on the plane particular airline, it is necessary to clarify in advance in order to avoid misunderstandings.

The tightening of general requirements for passenger traffic has long occurred in many modes of transport. Fans of rail travel know that drinking alcohol on a train can result in a fine or even being dropped off at the nearest train station.

There are also restrictions on flights, but most passengers do things that cannot be done on an airplane. They are well aware that they will not be able to land, but this does not exempt them from the fine. Moreover, if the passenger behaves threateningly, the plane can be landed at the nearest airport for security purposes. In this case, not only a large fine is required, but also an arrest.

In other cases, you can get off with only a small financial penalty upon arrival, but it is better not to commit such acts.

  1. Get out of your seat during landing and takeoff
  2. Smoking and drinking hard alcohol
  3. Walk down the aisles while serving food and drinks
  4. No need to use emergency equipment
  5. Refusing to fasten the seat belt when requested by the pilot
  6. Shout and talk loudly, make noise, listen to music without headphones or sing
  7. It is too low to lean back in the seat if the passenger in the back continues to sit straight.

The rest concerns general rules behavior in society - do not insult anyone, push or somehow show aggression. It is advisable to try not to impose communication on passengers sitting next to them if they do not want to maintain a dialogue.

Those who have flown an airplane many times already know that there is a pressure drop during takeoff and landing. This does not last long, but can cause discomfort. At this time, it is recommended to chew, suck on a lollipop, breathe deeply and evenly, or try to force a yawn.

Experienced people are advised not to sleep during takeoff and landing in order to be able to do any of the above recommendations. At the same time, no one forbids sleep by the rules of flights.

Previously, all flights allowed various digital devices in the cabin. Now a number of airlines require tablets, laptops and even e-books to be checked in as luggage, carrying only a phone in hand luggage. British companies directly indicate the dimensions of the devices, allowing you to immediately understand which phone cannot be taken on a plane.

In order for the baggage inspection, boarding and the flight itself to pass without excesses, you need to know in advance what you can’t take on the plane and how it’s forbidden to behave in the cabin. Availability prohibited items in hand luggage or in baggage may be grounds for denial of boarding if you do not want to leave such items at the airport. Violation of the rules of conduct during the flight may result in a fine after landing.

If everyone adheres to the established baggage procedures and code of conduct, then the flight will be much more pleasant and safer.

But here Aeroflot made a reservation: both laptops and mobile phones can be carried both in hand luggage and in luggage, but on one condition: they should be turned off(standby disabled) - this is not how a lithium battery works - and placed in a special protective package, which will not allow them to be damaged or activated.

And gels, shampoos, hairsprays, shaving foam( all items - no danger signs on the packaging), alcoholic beverages can be safely packed in luggage and checked into the luggage compartment.

What not to take on a plane

All items and things that are listed above have the right to prohibit transportation in the cabin of the airport administration. For example, in such a list, which is contained on the Aeroflot website, there are quite simple, common items that we use in everyday life, but the administration of the airport, the airline and the operator may prohibit their transportation in the cabin of the aircraft:

  • corkscrews
  • hypodermic needles (if there is no medical justification)
  • knitting needles
  • scissors with a blade length less than 60 mm
  • folding (without lock) travel, penknives (blade length less than 60 mm)

In order to avoid problems with check-in and boarding a flight, it is better to refuse these items on the road, do not take them with you into the cabin of the aircraft, including in hand luggage.

Screening at the airport

Inspection at the airport is exactly the procedure during which airline employees can exclude items and things prohibited for transportation from baggage and hand luggage. The inspection procedure is set out in a special annex to the rules for conducting pre-flight and post-flight inspections.

To ensure that passengers on board the aircraft feel safe, Aeroflot employees carry out screening of passengers and luggage during check-in at the airport.

At the request of an Aeroflot employee, your baggage can be screened at check-in and/or at the boarding gate. A passenger who has such a requirement is required to present hand luggage (1 piece) and some things that will be carried in the cabin (backpack, baby cradle, baby carriage) for weighing and inspection.

Hand luggage that exceeds the established norms (weight, dimensions, quantity) of free transportation must be checked into the baggage compartment of the aircraft with an appropriate surcharge. Dangerous things and items prohibited for transportation will have to be left at the airport.

On February 15, 2018, Aeroflot began to strictly check the size, quantity and weight of hand luggage. The hand luggage of all passengers is now not only counted and weighed, but also placed in a calibrator - a measuring frame.

Depending on the airport, they can check several times: at check-in, before passport control and at the boarding gate.

According to the explanations of the airline, this measure was introduced due to complaints from passengers that hand luggage was allowed to pass uncontrollably and there was not enough space for things on board.

Is it possible to sum the weight and size of luggage

If you are traveling with your family, friend or colleague on the same ticket, you can combine the free baggage allowance. That is, the husband and wife have the right to hand over suitcases weighing 20 and 26 kilograms instead of two to 23 kilograms without additional payment, or to distribute the weight in another way. But there is a limitation: each suitcase must be within 32 kg.

For two, 158 + 158 \u003d 316 cm is based on the sum of length, width and height. This means that one bag of 203 cm and the second of 113 cm can be checked in for free in the luggage compartment. A bag larger than 203 cm cannot be shared.
