Scheme of the Kuala Lumpur airport in Russian. How to get from the airport to Kuala Lumpur

If you travel a lot South-East Asia, then sooner or later you will find yourself at the LCCT airport. This airport is the main transfer point for many travelers.

It must be noted that Kuala Lumpur Airport is divided into 2 terminals:

  • KLIA(Kuala Lumpur International Airport) - main terminal
  • LCCT(Low Cost Carrier Terminal) - terminal (for example, Air Asia, Cebu Pacific, Tiger Airways, Firefly).

Moreover, to get from one to the other, you will have to spend at least half an hour, so be sure to ask in advance which terminal your flight departs from. Otherwise, you risk simply not having time to land.

If you have a flight Airasia, then you can be sure - you need a terminal LCCT, which will be discussed in this article.

2. How to get to LCCT

There are several ways to get to the LCCT terminal from Kuala Lumpur.

All options are detailed on the official LCCT website here.

Consider the main ways:

1. By bus star shuttle from the Puduraya or Chinatown stop. I already wrote in more detail where and how to buy tickets, where the stop itself is located (in the Puduraya area).

Ticket price- 12 ringgit.

Buses run around the clock every 30 minutes.

There are also buses from other bus companies, such as Skybus ( 9 ringgit), Aerobus ( 8 ringgit), they depart from the KL Sentral stop.

Despite the higher price, we chose the Star Shuttle because The stop was very close to our hotel.

2. By train KLIA Transit. The train goes from KL Sentral to KLIA airport, but you need to get off earlier at the Salak Tinggi stop, where you need to transfer to a shuttle that will take you to the LCCT terminal:

3. On the train KTM Komuter. You can take the train at any KTM Komuter station, get to the Nilai station stop, and from there take the shuttle to LCCT:

4. You can also take a taxi(the cost depends on the remoteness of your hotel, focus on the amount up to 100 ringgit)

3. How to navigate at the airport (airport map, etc.)

As soon as you arrive at the airport, you can pick up a luggage trolley at the entrance to the building:

Follow the signs below:

  • domestic departure- departure of domestic flights (there we flew to)
  • international departure- departure of international flights (this exit was used when flying on)

Departures of domestic flights:

4. Check-in and boarding gate

You can check in through the website (for example, if you fly with airasia, you can check in for the flight directly on the website), through a self-service terminal and at check-in counters.

To register for international flights you need to go left, to the counters T1-T18:

If you often travel around Southeast Asia, fate will sooner or later drop you into its airports. Kuala Lumpur - one of them - is the most important air harbor of the entire region. It has international status, and in this article we will dedicate to it Special attention. The second airport, bearing the name of Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, is often simply called "old". It accepts external and domestic flights. But the main air harbor of Malaysia is not one, but three airports located at a distance of several kilometers from each other. True, one of them has hardly been used since 2014. And since acquaintance with Kuala Lumpur for Russian travelers starts with its airports, we will tell you more about them.

History of KLIA

When the hub named after Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah could not cope with the growing passenger traffic, the authorities thought about building a new one in the Malaysian capital air harbor. Its construction was treated creatively. Environmental friendliness was put at the forefront, and so new airports were created. Kuala Lumpur has two completely different hubs. The new airport was designed specifically. The slogan of the builders was: "The hub is in the forest, the forest is in the terminal." And indeed, a tired traveler, having descended from the island, immediately plunges into the enchanting world of the Malaysian jungle. The Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa, one of the promoters of the idea of metabolists, developed the project. The construction took several years. The international airport, which received the abbreviation KLIA, received its first flight in 1998. It immediately overshadowed the old hub. Now all flights arriving from abroad land at KLIA. Very quickly, Kuala Lumpur Airport came to the forefront in Southeast Asia. On the this moment in terms of passenger traffic, it ranks thirteenth in the world, and in terms of cargo reception, it ranks eighteenth.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport

This greatest harbor in Southeast Asia has three terminals. Two of them, located in the neighborhood, "Main" and "Sattelit", are connected by an automated system for transporting passengers. But the third terminal, for receiving low-cost air carriers, is located three kilometers from the first two. Therefore, it is safe to characterize KLIA hubs as airports. Kuala Lumpur now accepts cheap airlines. Reviews of tourists warn: it will take you about half an hour to get to the low-cost terminal. Therefore, you should take this circumstance into account in order to catch your flight. You need to find out in advance where your plane is arriving or starting from. But if you are traveling with AirAsia, TigerAways or CebuPacific, you will definitely need to get to LCCT - this is the abbreviation for the low-cost terminal. But if you need "Main" and "Satellite", then there will be no problems with achieving the goal. Both terminals are in close proximity to each other. In addition, they are connected by a free train and shuttle bus - at the choice of passengers.

Kuala Lumpur airport scoreboard

The list of flights that this air harbor accepts will take more than one page. But there are no direct routes from Moscow and other Russian cities to Kuala Lumpur. Will have to fly with transfers. Reviews mention that many tourists arrive on board Qatar Airways. You can still fly through Kazakhstan (Air Astana). The main air harbor of Malaysia receives flights from all countries of Southeast Asia. If you are interested in budget transportation, then the most profitable is to use the services of the low-cost airline "AirAsia". Also, tourists use the Kuala Lumpur airport to travel to the beaches of Thailand, in particular to the island of Phuket (on board the Thai Airways) or to Singapore. The air harbor of Malaysia is also connected with the countries of the Middle East region. You can easily get from here to the UAE, Qatar. Liners arriving from Auckland, Melbourne, Adelaide and Istanbul also land here.

Services at KLIA Main Terminal

Passengers praise all new airports. Kuala Lumpur has benefited from their construction - they are very beautiful and functional. In the Main Terminal you will find duty free shops, ATMs, cafes and eateries. Naturally, there are also left-luggage offices and other services. What is interesting is that the airport management provides free Wi-Fi for passengers. Here you can also recharge mobile phones and other gadgets - there are special racks with a large selection of connectors for this. Take luggage upon arrival, go through passport and customs control, exchange money - all this can be done in the main terminal. Malaysian rules require that a visitor be fingerprinted with two index fingers. At the sign of the border guard, you must attach them to the scanner. There is also a lounge area in the Main Terminal - for a fee.

satellite terminal

If you are flying in from overseas to the new Kuala Lumpur International Airport, which has a fairly simple layout, you will most likely be taken to the Satellite Lounge. It was in it that the concept of "an air harbor in the forest" was embodied. Rack tourist information in the middle of the terminal and a few cafes, restaurants and toilets on the sides - that's all you can find here. The rest is the lush greenery of the tropics. Do not disregard tourist information, reviews advise. At the counter you can get a free map of the city and even a guide to English language. And if you have at least eight hours between connecting flights, you can sign up for a sightseeing tour of the city. To set foot on the land of Malaysia, you need to go passport control at the Main Terminal. Getting to this building is very easy. You just need to follow the Aerotrain signs. This is a drone train. Reviews advise you to sit in the first carriage to feel the adrenaline rush in the first minutes of your stay in Malaysia. Many tourists spend their time between flights like this - riding back and forth, because no one charges money for travel.

How to get to the city

We will consider all options. The first - the most expensive and not the fact that the fastest - a taxi. Kuala Lumpur Airport is located fifty kilometers from the city center. Naturally, it is not necessary to count on a budget trip. Reviews of tourists discourage using the services of local private traders. They advise you to contact the Limo taxi call desk. There are several in the main terminal. The most convenient location of one of them is the third floor, baggage claim or exit from the international arrivals hall. You need to tell the employee your destination and ask for "budget car", because the fare also depends on the class of the car. Next, you pay for the fare, and you are given a receipt, which you hand over to the driver of the specified taxi. The cost of such a trip ranges from seventy to one hundred ringgit.

How to get to the train station

The peculiarity of the capital of Malaysia is that its railroad station located almost in the center of the city. And this circumstance should be taken into account even by those tourists who are not going to leave by train to the province. There are two types of trains from Kuala Lumpur Airport to the city center. The fare in them is the same - thirty-five ringgit. The CLIA-Express train goes to the main station without stops. He arrives at his destination in twenty-eight minutes. These trains run more frequently: every quarter of an hour from five in the morning until half past one at night. "Klia-Transit" differs from "Express" in that it makes three stops along the way: at Salak Tinji, Putrajaya and at Bandar Tasik Selatan. These trains follow at intervals of half an hour and reach the Kuala Lumpur station in thirty-five minutes. There is no significant difference with Express. Trains depart from the first floor of the airport. The ticket is bought at the counter before boarding the train.

To Kuala Lumpur by bus

This is perhaps the most inexpensive and most acceptable way, especially for those passengers who landed at the low-cost terminal (KLIA2). They do not need to get to the main building of the airport. Unless out of interest: the KLIA-Transit train runs between the terminals (it costs two ringgits, the travel time is five minutes). There are several bus companies that transport passengers from the airport to the capital of Malaysia and even to other cities in the country. The most convenient operator, judging by the reviews, is Airport Coatch. The ticket costs ten ringgit (18 - in both directions). Buses of this company depart at intervals of half an hour during the day. There is also a night flight - at 3:00. This operator provides a service called "Kuala Lumpur Hotel - Airport" for twenty-five ringgit. That is, the bus picks you up right from the gate of the hotel you specified (if one is located within the city). Tourists leave positive feedback about the Star Shuttle carrier. The buses of this company run around the clock and also pass by Chinatown.

Terminal KLIA2

It opened in 2014 and completely replaced the old LCCT, which is now in a state of liquidation. "KLIA2" is famous for being the world's largest terminal for receiving low cost airlines. Previously, it was not easy to get to the main building of Kuala Lumpur International Airport from LCCT. Now the journey by train will take no more than five minutes. There is an entire bus station on the first floor of this terminal. From here it is easy to go not only to Kuala Lumpur, but also to other cities: Johor Bahru, Malacca, etc.

Airport them. Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah

Previously, until the end of the last century, it was the main air harbor of Malaysia. But even now it has the status of an international airport. On the runway liners from Almaty, Tashkent, Delhi, Dubai, Guangzhou, Canberra, Melbourne and other cities of the world land regularly. Malaysia's old air harbor is quite convenient, reviews say. It has the entire standard set of services required for a hub with international status. One of the advantages of the air harbor is its proximity to Kuala Lumpur. It is located in the suburbs of Subang. So those who arrive at the hub with the abbreviation SZB (Kuala Lumpur) do not have to think about how to get from the airport to their destination.

From the old hub to the new one

Another thing is if you consider Kuala Lumpur as a transit point, and you arrive at the hub named after Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, and depart from KLIA. How to get to Kuala Lumpur Airport from the old air harbor? To do this, go to complex A and take bus number 9, get off at the Pasar Seni stop, change route to 2309 and get to the main railway station. And there already trains "KLIA-Express" or "Transit" will take you to the main international airport. Very confusing, and during peak hours even longer. Therefore, reviews recommend taking a taxi at least to the station.

LCCT stands for Low Cost Carrier Terminal, i.e. Terminal for low cost carriers in Kuala Lumpur. Flights of low cost airlines, both domestic and international, fly from here. And inexpensive ticket prices are achieved by total savings. For example, in LCCT, passengers independently get to the plane from the Airport building on foot...

I already wrote about Kuala Lumpur Airport KLIA in general (visa rules, Malaysian customs, etc.). You can find all useful information in an article about KLIA

The LCCT terminal is a separate KLIA terminal.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW!

A passenger departing from Kuala Lumpur needs to check in advance on the ticket from which terminal his flight departs: KLIA, KLIA2 or LCCT!

Despite the fact that all three terminals of the Airport (KLIA, KLIA-2 and LCCT) are located, in fact, on the same territory, direct railway communication with Kuala Lumpur only KLIA has it. Special buses run between KLIA and LCCT. And KLIA and KLIA-2 are connected by an automatic monorail mini-train Aero train - we have not seen anything like this in any other airport in the world.

You can get directly from Kuala Lumpur to the LCCT terminal by taxi or express bus.

A metered taxi will cost about 80-100 ringgit (about 20 euros). Without a counter, it will be much more expensive.

The express bus fare is 10 times cheaper: 8-10 ringgit (about 2 euros) per person. Buses depart for LCCT from KL Sentral station.

We couldn't get on the train from Kuala Lumpur towards Langkawi

Therefore, we got to the island of Langkawi in the classical way - by Air Asia plane from the LCCT terminal. Fly only an hour.

Tickets for the whole family cost us about 140 euros.

But let's go in order.

After leaving the China Town 2 hotel in Chinatown, we walked to the Pasar Seni metro station on foot (less than 400 meters). The KL Sentral station is just one stop away - the metro fare was 1 RM (0.20 euros) per person.

From KL Sentral, you can take a 30-minute train ride to the KLIA terminal, or 1 hour to any of the three terminals by express bus.

If the railway ticket office is located next to the subway exit, then the bus ticket office is located on the lower level of KL Sentral right next to the buses. Express bus tickets to LCCT cost us RM10 (€2.15) per person. They did not pay for the children, although they occupied all four rear seats of the bus.

The entire hour-long trip to the Airport, we admired the views of the city from the window and the endless plantings of palm trees in the suburbs.

Close to the territory of the Airport there is the Sepang race track - here in a few days the Malaysian stage of the Formula 1 race was to take place. At the junction at the highway, buses turn right in KLIA and left in LCCT.

The LCCT terminal serves both international and domestic flights. Accordingly, when going to the Malaysian island of Langkawi, use the entrance for domestic flights (Domestic Departure).

After entering the terminal building there will be check-in machines.

You must check in yourself and only then go through baggage control and check it in at the Check-In counters.

Do not forget about the weight limits of luggage and hand luggage with low cost carriers! With this, low cost-Airlines are strict. On the parallel rack, overweight passengers hurriedly brought their weight back to normal, shifting their things ...

After the Check-In counters, you need to return to the entrance and go to passport control at the Domestic Departure Hall, located to the right of the entrance. In general, despite the fact that the terminal is designed for low-cost airlines, it is very worthy, unlike low cost- Terminal 4 Manila Airport

There is quality service and quite decent waiting rooms. There are shops and restaurants.

The fact that you need to go to the plane on foot is also not particularly embarrassing ... Interesting for a change.

Where else will you be allowed to walk between the planes on the runway?

For this, special pedestrian crossings with signs are designed.

And already from the desired pointer landing in progress on the plane.

Well, here we come...

Langkawi, expect us in an hour!

Hi friends. Today I will tell you how to get from the airport to Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia has many convenient modern international airports. Choosing which one is better to use is based on your route. We chose the capital of the state - the city, KLIA airport as the entry point to the country. The giant airport is by far the largest airport in the world, capable of receiving 24 million passengers at a time. It is located 60 km from the capital and is arranged a little differently than the airports we know.

First of all, remember that KLIA Airport has two terminals: the main KLIA terminal and KLIA 2 terminal, which serves low-cost airlines. These are the so-called low cost companies.

I'll tell you how to get to Kuala Lumpur from both terminals. There are differences.

Air communication is well developed in Malaysia, and getting to different parts of the country by plane is sometimes more convenient and cheaper than by train or bus. We used domestic flights. This is convenient when you want to stay in one place for a short time, for example, to see the capital of the country, and then wave to some island.

Sometimes it is easier and cheaper to buy a ticket from Russia to Kuala Lumpur, fly to the first ( international terminal) and immediately, without leaving the city, go to the KLIA 2 terminal.

And already from it go to the island or to the neighboring state of Singapore. It takes longer to get to Singapore through Kuala Lumpur, but the savings in money are about 100,000 rubles, i.e. - the whole trip. the cost of this combination.

So, I'll tell you how to get from one terminal to another, i.e. make a transfer.

Trains run between the terminals: KLIA Express and KLIA Transit. You can use any. The fare is 2 ringgit. Travel time 3 minutes. Trains run every 20 minutes. During peak hours every 15 minutes. The train ticket is sold on the spot at the box office.

We took a ride on such a train when we got from KLIA 2 to KLIA. Indeed, convenient. Airports have clear signs, follow them and do not get lost.

Airport Aerotrain KLIA

There is one feature at KLIA airport that we encountered for the first time. This confused us a little.

Usually, after getting off the plane, we go to passport control, then we get our luggage and after that we go to the hotel. At the KLIA airport, everything turned out to be different.

The fact is that there are three buildings in the main KLIA terminal:

  • main terminal building (Main Terminal Building)
  • auxiliary building (Satellite Building)
  • and Contact Pier. Main Terminal Building, otherwise it is also called Terminal M

We flew to the Satellite Building, which houses gate C. We flew to this gate C. We left and, as expected, were going to go to passport control. But it was not there...

Attention! KLIA has a different order:

  1. If you arrived at the Satellite Building terminal, then first you need to take the Aerotrain to the Main Terminal Building, where gates A, B, G, H are located
  2. and go through passport control

Before we understood this rather convenient system, we had to worry a little: How so, we walk and drive around the country, but we haven’t passed passport control yet)))

Aerotrain is free (do not confuse with KLIA Express and KLIA Transit trains), runs between gates every 3 minutes, travel time is 2 minutes, the luggage cart can be brought right to the door, the entrance to the car is convenient.

Another very convenient thing is that there is a board with information about luggage right on the platforms.

In general, everything is thought out, everything is for people.

Now let's figure out how to get from KLIA airport to the city center.

By train

There are 2 trains between the airport and the city: KLIA Express and KLIA Transit. To find the train, follow the signs at the airport.

KLIA Express starts its route from the KLIA 2 stop, after 3 minutes KLIA and then the end station KL Sentral, which is the main transport hub of Kuala Lumpur.

Travel time 33 minutes. There is a train every 15-20 minutes. The fare is 55 ringgit one way (children 25 ringgit), 100 ringgit round trip (children 45 ringgit). Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the box office.

Before buying a ticket at the box office, change money and break it into small bills.

The KLIA Transit train makes several stops along the way: KLIA 2, KLIA, Salak Tinggi, Putrajaya&Ciberjaya, Bandar Tasik Selatan, KL Sentral.

Ticket price KLIA - KL Sentral

Travel time 40 minutes. They run every 15-20 minutes. Fare to KL Sentral 55 ringgit one way (children 25 ringgit), 100 ringgit round trip (children 45 ringgit). Tickets can be purchased on site at the box office. Online shopping there are no tickets.

The KLIA Transit train is convenient for those who need to get from the airport to the Bersepadu Seletan bus station.

The bus station is located at Bandar Tasik Selatan station.

You can find out more about the price schedule here.

By bus

All buses from the airport also go to the end station KL Sentral. The bus station is located in the main terminal M, on the second floor, blocks C-G.

Follow the signs, you will come across escalators and elevators. When you get to the place, choose the bus company and buy a ticket.

The cost is the same for everyone, 10 ringgit one way. Buses run every 30 minutes. Travel time 50 minutes.

Several bus companies run from the airport to KL Sentral

  • airport coach. One of the advantages of the car company: for 25 ringgit per person. The bus will take you directly to your hotel. But this service must be ordered in advance by calling or writing to e-mail. The site of the company www.airportcoach.com.my
  • Starwira. The buses of this company will take you from the airport to the Pudu Raya station, which is located next to the Chinatown area. The ticket price is 10 ringgit. Buses also have other routes. Official site www.starwira.com

By taxi

The airport has two official taxi companies Airport Limo and Mesra Indah Jaya. To use a taxi, you first need to call a special taxi stand the place you want to get to. You will be told the amount. After that, you buy a ticket, which you show to the taxi driver. It is not necessary to give money to the taxi driver himself.

Taxi stands are located in the baggage claim area. The taxi rank is located right outside the airport.

Transfer from airport

You can order a transfer from the airport to the hotel you need in advance online. Use the search form below. The advantage of this service is that you do not need to pay the entire amount at once. You pay approximately 15% of the cost. Pay the rest when you are taken to the place.

Where to go next from KL Sentral

KL Sentral is an important transport hub in Kuala Lumpur. Several railway lines, metro lines and bus routes pass through it.

In addition to the transport hub, there are several huge shopping malls, food courts (food) and hotels.
KL Sentral Monorail station is 300 meters away. It takes 15 minutes to get to the Bukit Bintang area.

How to get from KLIA 2 to Kuala Lumpur

How to get from KLIA 2 by train was written above - the KLIA Express and KLIA Transit trains will help you.

  1. Starwira buses from the airport will take you to Pudu Raya Station, which is located next to Chinatown. The ticket price is 10 ringgit. Departure every 30 minutes. In addition to this route, Starwira carries passengers to the cities of Ipoh and Sitiawan, from where it is convenient to get to Pangkor Island.
  2. skybus. Runs between KLIA 2 and KL Sentral every 30 minutes. The cost of a one-way ticket is 10 ringgit. Tickets can be booked in advance online or bought at the box office on the spot. Official website of the company www.skybus.com.my
  3. Aerobus. Buses run to KL Sentral station. I leave every 30 minutes. The cost of a one-way ticket is 9 ringgit, children 5 ringgit. Official site www.aerobus.my

Subang airport

Subang Airport (Kuala Subang Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport) accepts only turboprop aircraft and serves only Firefly and Berjaya Air. Airplanes from Russia do not fly to this airport.

But if you flew to Subang (for example, you have a flight from Koh Samui), then you can get from the airport to the city center in several ways:

  • Bus company METROBUS. Bus number 10. Takes you to Pasar Seni metro station. The fare is 3 ringgit.
  • By taxi. The cost is about 50 ringgit. You can save money and ask a taxi driver to take you to the Kelana Jaya metro station, for about 25 ringgit. From there you can take the metro to your destination.
  • Only taxis operate between KLIA, KLIA 2 and Subang Airport. Public transport does not go.

Outcome

The story turned out to be voluminous, which means that Malaysia has a well-developed transport system that there are many ways to get from the airport to the right place. All of them are convenient and comfortable. There are plenty to choose from.

Have a good trip and new pleasant impressions!

Kuala Lumpur airport: how to get to the airport, official website, phones, flights, taxi to the airport, service and services of Kuala Lumpur airport.

Kuala Lumpur Airport is the largest in all of Southeast Asia, as well as the most modern and technically equipped airport in the entire region. More than 50 airlines depart from here.

This airport was designed by the famous Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. Its main feature is how organically it fits into environment. "Airport in the forest and the forest in the airport" - this is the main concept of the unique architecture of the terminal building. There is a lot of greenery here, and in one of the terminals there is a zone of a real tropical forest.

Kuala Lumpur airport terminals

The airport has two terminals located at a distance of 800 m from each other. The terminals are interconnected by a monorail, along which free automatic Aerotrain trains run every 15-20 minutes. Previously, there were 3 terminals at the airport, one more - LCCT - served flights of low-cost airlines, but at the moment it is closed.

  • Terminal 1 (KLIA) - the main one, accepts most of the flights to the capital of Malaysia, consists of 3 buildings interconnected by a special pier. Inside it is the Satelite satellite terminal, where many international flights arrive. To go through passport control and collect your luggage, you can take the Aerotrain from here to the main terminal.
  • Terminal 2 - international terminal of budget airlines KLIA 2 (see diagram). It was built to offload the main one.

Services

Both terminals have cafes and restaurants, duty free, luggage storage, ATMs, shops, laptop charging area and mobile phones, currency exchange offices and tourist information desks where you can get free city maps and guidebooks. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport. There are only a couple of cafes in the satellite terminal, the nearest infrastructure is located in the main terminal.

Tracking the time of arrival and departure of flights is convenient on the online scoreboard of arrivals and departures.
