I'm not sure that every motorist will be delighted with the killed dirt road, but in our road trip across Altai best places, indeed, began after the end of the asphalt.

The village of Artybash is the second place where we went on our route. Everyone who comes to Lake Teletskoye from its northern part stops in the villages of Artybash or Iogach.

We left Belokurikha early in order to catch the 15-hour Pioneer of Altai motor ship, plying from a panoramic tour of Teletskoye lake.

Belokurikha - Artybash = 270km (4.5 hours)
Gorno-Altaisk - Artybash = 157km (2.5 hours)

But something went wrong (in the schedule I mixed up weekdays and weekends) and our ship left at 12-00. Late for some 30 minutes. But then they realized that everything was for the best.

Immediately, on the spot, we agreed with local carriers on an excursion around the lake and we had additional time for lunch and a walk along the banks of the Biya River.

The locals advised to dine in a cafe with homemade cuisine on the shore. Lunch turned out to be pretty decent. Mashed potatoes with beef, fried grayling, okroshka, pies and compote. For four, we got around 1300 rubles.

If you came to the lake without prior reservation, do not worry, there are enough people who want to earn money in the short summer season.

First stop - Estyuba waterfall.
It is located on the Bolshaya Estyuba River, originating at the foot of the mountain of the same name. Translated from Altai big mountain". The waterfall is located in a tectonic crevasse, which can only be reached by water. It is a cascade of waterfalls, seething and bewitching. Especially beautiful in spring, with melt water, discovered by local hunters in 1938.

There are only four waterfalls on the lake tour. When disembarking, for each (except Kishte) they take 100 rubles for an environmental fee. For this money we get neat wooden paths, railings, trash cans, a clean and well-groomed path.

We were glad several times that we did not have time for the regular steamer. Would not see other waterfalls of the lake!

Next stop at Choodor waterfall, from the western side of Lake Teletskoye.
Translated from the Altai language Choodor is translated as "pockmarked, clumsy". The height of the fall is about eight meters, surrounded by age-old mosses and ferns.

This is where I like to walk the most. Possibly due to the availability of observation decks, which offer stunning views of Lake Teletskoye and wooded shores. Just unbelieveble!

Most of the eastern shore of Lake Teletskoye is part of the territory of the Altai Reserve, one of the largest reserves in Russia. You can’t just take a tent and stay for a couple of days in a place you like.
About seventy large and small rivers of Altai flow into the lake, and the famous beauty Biya flows out. The greatest depth is 325 meters in the Korbu waterfall area. Locals compare it to the size of the Eiffel Tower. The lake is strongly elongated from north to south, the length is 77 km.

Korbu Waterfall- located on the Bolshaya Korbu River on east coast Teletskoye Lake. The height of the waterfall is 12.5 meters, the fall angle is 65 degrees. The most visited waterfall of the lake! Only here comes the steamer for the disembarkation of tourists.

There was another waterfall - Kishte, but it is forbidden to land on it. It is located on the way to Korbu. For some reason the photo didn't show up.

On the way back we were taken to another popular place- stone bay. You can get here along the trail from the village of Iogach, or by boat - 15-20 minutes.
The shores of the stone bay consist of massive boulders of various shapes and sizes. According to some data, this is a funnel from a meteorite fall, according to others, it is a pit from a huge collapsed rock, and the Altai people believe in the myth of a hero who defeated a monster here.

Important! "Pioneer Altai" departs from the village of Iogach (from Artybash across the bridge), keep this in mind!

The walk around the lake lasts approximately 3.5 hours. In the evening we still had free time. We left the car near the house and walked to the lake on foot.

For an overnight stay, I booked a house Manor in the forest in the village of Iogach. Great place for one or two nights. The room has everything you need (shower, toilet, water, bed linen, kitchenette, barbecue area, veranda). Very friendly hostess Taisiya Nikolaevna, who cooked us delicious millet porridge and a whole mountain of pasties for breakfast. It turned out to be a royal breakfast.
The house is located in the forest, 500 meters from the lake, we considered this an additional bonus - peace and quiet. If you're in a car, distance doesn't matter.

Siberian cedar in Altai is very popular in the production of furniture, housing construction, and interior decoration. Cedar wood is soft, durable and light, does not succumb to moisture and is not corroded by bugs, and is almost not subject to decay. Easily amenable to various types of processing.
In Moscow and the region, cedar is a luxury, but here it’s quite an ordinary tree from which you can build a house and a barn. I wanted to grab a couple of logs home))

Have you ever driven to the end of a track or road? So to go to yourself, enjoy the views, and then again - and a dead end. This happened to us in Altai. About this and much more in today's post.

Our entire route was compiled along the famous Chuisky tract - here is nature, sights, and civilization. And if you drive a little to the side - here are wild places for you - mountains, rivers, waterfalls. In every journey, we always find such points on the map. So that without the influx of tourists, take a break from the hustle and bustle and better feel the place.

After the Turquoise Katun, we decided to stay at the tour base for three days. Altai, after all! Here it is supposed to rest at the bases and parking lots.

Before the village of Ust-Sema, the Chuisky tract moves to the left bank of the Katun and the Chemalsky tract begins, leading to the village of Chemal on the right bank of the Katun and further to the village of Kuyus. That's where we need to go!

Turquoise Katun - Chemal = 57km (1 hour)
Turquoise Katun - Elanda = 80km (1 hour 20 min)

Relatives found for us beautiful place 25 km from the village of Chemal - tour base Elanda. It turned out that this is not very similar to the base. Real modern cottage village with all amenities, surrounded by incredible Altai nature. See for yourself))

On the summer verandas there is a fully equipped kitchen (with sockets and stoves), barbecue places, an organized place for garbage, several refrigerators, a shower, a WC - everything is very convenient and tidy.

But none of the benefits of humanity can be compared with nature. The places here are amazing!

Go down to the river, sit down on rocky beach and rest, looking at the seething Katun. The beauty!

Having stopped in Yeland, we managed to go to the Chemal hydroelectric power station, the island of Patmos and the confluence of the Chemal and Katun rivers. But these places seemed to us too noisy and touristy, although pretty. You won't stay there long. I will tell about them another time.

We decided to explore the final part of the Chemalsky tract (in the opposite direction). And it turned out to be much cooler!

5 km from the village of Kuyus, Chemalsky district, along the Chemalsky tract, there is a remarkable place - the petroglyphs of the Kuyus grotto. According to archaeologists, there used to be a cave at this place, now it is called the Kuyus grotto.

Chemal - Kuyus = 55km (1 hour 10 minutes)
Elanda - Kuyus = 31km (50 minutes)

Behind Elanda, the asphalt ends and the primer winds beautifully along the Katun. Sometimes you have to ride on wide plateaus, and sometimes you have to cling to the mountains.

Gophers bask on the stones. For the first time I saw a lot of them in their natural environment, but they didn’t get into the lens, zhivchiki. Surely, just one hid behind a stone))

The road itself to the petroglyphs is a separate fascinating excursion.
For example, almost a hundred-meter suspension Oroktoysky bridge, from which the narrowest and most deep place Katun. The width is from 20 to 40 meters, and the depth in this place is about 70 meters.

The noisy Katun seems to have calmed down a bit in this place, but it is not. Here are some of the most beautiful rapids in Altai - Teldekpen (Stumps).

The height of the black rocks is about 5-10 meters and in the summer people often raft here on boats and catamarans.

And here is the village of Kuyus. A little more and we are at the goal!

Local kids by the road work part-time in the summer. Felt cherry season, 30 rubles per cup. Of course I bought and met at the same time. Children seem happy and very friendly, a little shy. They go to the village school and study well.
And guess what is the most common name for boys in these parts?

So we got to the petroglyphs.

Independent tourists rarely come here, they believe that it is far and the road is bad (the way it is, some sections are simply disgusting). But there are frequent groups during the season. On this, the locals decided to earn extra money by instructing a local resident guide to tell information from the Internet. Here's to you real excursion 100 rubles per person. But they did it right, it is very difficult for an ignorant person to consider the drawings.

The study of petroglyphs began in the 60s. 2 groups and more than 200 drawings were found here. The main part of the illustrations on the animal theme: deer, elk, goats.

Large figures of deer - the technique of contour knockout - date back to the Neolithic (about 5 thousand years ago) and are the most ancient drawings in the petroglyphs of Altai.

The second site is from the Bronze Age: a dog, a man, a mountain goat, an archer, a plot of sacrifice, a scene with a shaman, mountain argali, a hunting scene.

They even equipped the village as a mini-museum.

And they sell handmade souvenirs.

But let's digress from antiquity and admire the present - multi-colored rocks, as if specially painted, are no less impressive. Or maybe more.)

And the views! Incredible views! I want to take pictures endlessly.

Edelweiss, mountain thyme and stone roses grow in small groups underfoot.

We leave the car at the parking lot near the petroglyphs and move on to the Kuyussky waterfall, which actually has a complicated name - Beltir Tuyuk.

The name of the waterfall means "end of the road".

Descent to the water - 50 rubles.

The waterfall has two picturesque cascades - 11 and 29 meters. The lower one is located in a narrow crevice, which is clearly visible from the bridge.

But it is better to climb the path to the upper cascade and admire the fast stream flowing into the Katun.

A real place where tourists come must have its own legend, the Kuyussky waterfall is no exception.

After a walk at the waterfall, we turn around and in high spirits from what we saw, we go back. There is no further road. What is called neither pass nor pass. Here the Chemalsky tract ends.

All active and caring teachers of our region come to this event. This year, 17 teams took part, including the team of MKOU "Talmenskaya secondary school No. 1" "TalWomen". In addition to the traditional incendiary numbers from the teams of teachers, this year there was a dance battle between children.
At the end of the event, RDSh activists filmed a video - congratulations from the teachers of the Altai Territory.

In the Altai Territory, great importance is attached to the summer health campaign. Summer vacation is a great time for schoolchildren across the region to have a fun, rewarding and safe time.

According to preliminary results, 175,000 Altai schoolchildren took part in the children's health program in 2019. In general, more than 590 million rubles were allocated for the campaign from the regional and municipal budgets.

More than 10 million rubles were allocated from the regional budget to organize recreation for children in difficult life situations. At the expense of this money, the Ministry of Social Protection purchased 750 vouchers to country health camps for regional specialized shifts for disabled children, orphans and children left without parental care.

In total, 872 organizations worked in the summer. Including: 58 out-of-town and sanatorium camps, 6 children's sanatoriums, 804 day camps for children and 4 tent camps.

Also in 2019, the improvement and strengthening of their material and technical base continued. Conditions have been improved in 14 country camps: the roof, fences, windows and doors in residential buildings have been replaced, canteens and swimming pools have been upgraded.

Work has been done with children who are different types accounting. All of them rested in camps with day stay, in countryside, sanatorium and recreation campgrounds, visited institutions of culture and sports, took part in hiking trips. As a matter of priority, they were provided with jobs, with each child the issues of employment were worked out individually. 306 teenagers, who are registered with commissions on minors' affairs, have been employed through the employment service bodies.

The guys from the Altai Territory had a rest not only in their native region. 1024 schoolchildren went to Chernoy and Seas of Azov. 39 groups (more than 400 people) in 2019 were sent to rest, competitions, competitions and tours to Novosibirsk, Adler, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Moscow, etc. In addition, hiking trips were held in Gornaya Kolyvan, Gorny Altai, Charysh and other regions within the framework of the Live Lessons project. All camps were staffed by qualified personnel. Counselors were trained under the program "School for the training of counselors" on the basis of the Pedagogical University, designed for 72 hours. In total, 700 counselors who received state certificates were trained.

The Ministry has developed a draft departmental target program “Development of the sphere of recreation and improvement of children,” the response to the request says. It is noted that the preparation of the relevant document took place in accordance with the Fundamentals of State Regulation and State Control of the Organization of Recreation and Rehabilitation of Children and the Decade of Childhood plan, approved at the initiative of Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko.

Dancers from the exemplary Ovation Dance Theater take an active part in the implementation of this shift, who not only had a rest, but also created dance numbers for participation in the All-Russian competition.

A lot of things are made by children during the shift. In this, the children were assisted by experienced leaders of the circles "Quiling", "Burning on tree”, “One, two, three, four, five – I can draw!”, “Cartoons in the sand” and “Pinocchio Theatre”. The team of the DOL "Rocket" sketched ideas and shared their dreams from childhood, and it turned out that everything is important to us: clean air, delicious food, young creative counselors, and interesting, relevant events, and creative ideas, and competitive spirit, and an atmosphere of friendship and cooperation, and teamwork. It is important that during the holidays the children rest, receive a charge of positive emotions, actively spend time and make friends, so that there is no word “necessary”, but the words “I want”, “I can”. As part of the profile shift, many interesting events took place: “Minute of Glory”, “Battle of Choirs”, KVN “Sons of the Fatherland”, review of the formation and song “Staten in the ranks, strong in battle”, the game of the camp “Zarnitsa”. The meeting with retired colonel, war veteran Vasily Ivanovich Chudaikin, a man of interesting biography, aroused great interest among the members of the Yunarmiya. Vasily Ivanovich during the meeting focused the attention of the guys on becoming worthy defenders of their homeland, you need to be strong and courageous, engage in physical training and sports, train willpower, confidently go towards your goal, despite obstacles. Employees of the AGM Museum G.S. Titova met with members of the Yunarmiya Kosikhinsky and Yeltsovsky districts. Museum researcher Olga Kovalenko introduced the children to the history of the life, work and exploits of German Titov. The cadet years of German Stepanovich, which he spent at the Kustanai school with initial flight training and at the Stalingrad Military Aviation School of Pilots, from which he graduated with honors, were presented especially vividly and in detail. In the course of the story, quotes from the autobiographical story by G.S. Titov "My Blue Planet". The children listened with interest to the story, carefully examining the frames on the screen. At the end of the program, a quiz was held, to which the boys and girls gave clear and correct answers, for which they received badges with a portrait of German Titov, magnets and calendars as a gift. And the guest from Eltsovka answered the most interesting question of the quiz (What call sign did German Titov have during the flight?), for which she received the book by G.S. Titov "My Blue Planet". When summing up, it was noted that the guys had successfully mastered the military-patriotic training block, which included theoretical classes on the basics of military service, as well as the development of practical skills. And most importantly, the participants of the profile shift were convinced that teamwork, mutual assistance, friendship is great.
The organizers of the shift expressed confidence that the participants in the first profile shift would make a significant contribution to the development of the Yunarmiya movement in their educational organizations.

In the Pankrushikhinsky district, on the basis of the DOL "Eaglet", the profile shift "School of Safety" was completed.
The teachers of MBOUDO "Pankrushikhinsky TsT", together with the Education Committee, subdivision 56 of the PSCH of the FPS of the State Fire Service "8th detachment of the FPS in the Altai Territory", KGBU "Pankrushikhinsky Central District Hospital", OP for the Pankrushikhinsky District of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Khabarsky" prepared a variety of exciting and useful program.
During the seven days of the shift during practical classes, watching educational videos, 70 children learned the rules of fire safety, safe behavior at water bodies, in the forest, in case of a threat and the occurrence of natural and man-made emergencies. Received practical skills in providing first aid, using
primary fire extinguishing equipment, rescue equipment and climbing equipment. Familiarize yourself with the fire fighting equipment used to extinguish fires.
All these useful and exciting activities were conducted by firefighters, rescuers, traffic police officers, medical workers, teachers of the Center for Creativity.
To reinforce what they have learned, the guys went through competitions in the following types: "Orientation on the ground", "Obstacle course", "Search and rescue operations", "First aid", "Survival route", and "Combined obstacle course".
The shift ended with the awarding of participants with diplomas, cups, certificates, memorable souvenirs, sweet prizes. The children also received certificates of completion of the “School of Safety” course.

If you have a couple of hours of free time and are in the area " Turquoise Katun" I recommend an interesting walk. Here you will see two interesting sights in the Altai Mountains.

"Valley of the Grottoes"- this is the name of the walking route included in complex of Tavdinsky caves. We really like to walk on different trails, so we realized that we need to go there. Planned - done!

Barnaul - Turquoise Katun / Tavdinsky caves = 290km (4 hours)
Gorno-Altaisk - Turquoise Katun / Tavdinsky caves = 47km (1 hour)

The entrance to the routes (and there are two of them) is located in the central part of the tourist area " Turquoise Katun". There are pointers and coordinates in the navigator, it's hard to get lost.

On that day, we only got to the "Valley of Grottoes", they were not allowed to go to the "Place of Power". Before our arrival on the "Turquoise Katun" there was a terrible hurricane. The wind knocked down an unrealistic number of trees. They saw the fallen trunks themselves, everything is true.

According to the stand, the Valley of the Grottoes also has three routes. I didn't understand which way we went. Yes, it doesn't matter, I guess.

On the route tourists can see picturesque grottoes and arches. Each object has its own name. I didn’t feel like an archaeologist (there were too many people), but I walked along the forest paths with pleasure and was inspired by the Altai nature.

The route "Valley of Grottoes" is quite easy, even a child can do it. The height difference is 200 meters, the main part of the trail goes along gentle slopes. Rather, it is the child who will be most interested here. Lots of room to "climb" and "explore"))

At the Start Camp, you will be charged 150 rubles for entry (children under 7 years old are free). Further, following the signs, the very study of bizarre rocky arches, arches of ancient caves and grottoes begins. Once again, you are amazed by Mother Nature, who so skillfully creates various forms and reliefs!

The first grotto on our way is "Traveler's Halt". Petya read the title as "Putin's Halt", and why not))

All grottoes are free to enter. A flashlight will come in handy.

Of all the arcs, the Wish Arc is the most popular. The legend says "Go under the arch, touching the stone with your hands and make a wish. It will definitely come true!"
If it doesn’t come true, mind you, it’s not my fault, I invented the legend on the spot. But the wish, nevertheless, made a wish)).

To get to the Eagle's Nest, you need to climb through the Raccoon Hole.

Look at the amazing nature around! Wherever you look, everywhere is fabulous!

The length of the "Valley of the Grottoes" is 1850 meters, the passage will take about 1.5-2 hours, depending on how you go. The route is circular, there will be no repetitions on the way back.

"Turquoise Katun"- this is the first and only special economic zone of tourist and recreational type in Altai. Behind such a complicated name is a well-known tourist complex summer holiday, with an artificially created lake. We came here for a walk from Manzherok. Well, what else to do in the rain? Do not sit in a hotel.

The territory of the complex is equipped according to all European standards.
On the sandy beach warm lake rides crowded, waterslides, deck chairs, cafes and shopping pavilions. In a word, life is in full swing. But only in summer and only in good weather. In the rain, everything looks pretty dull.

No signs of busy summer life.

There are many hotels and private guest houses in the complex, which annually receive Russian and foreign tourists. Many of them are great additions. Altai nature. Look what houses!

The place is well maintained and obviously touristy, but well worth a look.

"Turquoise Katun" located on the vast territory of the left bank of the Katun. It is connected with the Chuisky tract by a suspension bridge, entrance fee is 100 rubles. For those who do not want to pay, you can make a small detour and enter the Turquoise Katun from the other side. And to leave through the bridge, the exit is free.

Be sure to take a walk to the bridge. It seems to me that this is a separate place that deserves to be explored.

200 meters above the bridge to the "Turquoise Katun" there is a source of Arzhan-Suu. Check it out if you are in these places. Healing springs beat in the source, the water is saturated with iron, copper and silver. By the way, Shukshin's film "Such a guy lives" was filmed here.
