I liked this country and liked it so much that already in November of the same year I again went to Vietnam, but already to get acquainted with it on my own. southern regions and neighboring Cambodia.

The demand for holidays in Nha Trang has decreased, but nevertheless remained, therefore, I would like to share my impressions of my stay at this resort.

What to see in Nha Trang

You can explore the city on your own without ordering a sightseeing tour of the city. I did it twice. The first time alone (while my "fellow travelers" basked on the beach) and on foot. Armed with a map of the city, I moved from one attraction to another, and in 4 hours I walked around them all. It was not possible to ask the locals for directions, although they did try: they smiled, nodded and did not understand anything. The second time already with my own, who, having heard enough of my stories, also wanted spectacles. But now we moved exclusively by taxi. By the way, I think this is the best mode of transport for this city. The cars are all new, the drivers are in uniform, the payment is by meter, the prices, at that rate, did not exceed 100 rubles per trip.

So, the first point is the Catholic Cathedral of St. Mary.

The cathedral is active, besides it is the residence of the Bishop of Nha Trang. But in Vietnam, according to various estimates, from 5 to 8 million people identify themselves as Christian Catholics, up to 10% of the population. And especially Catholicism is popular in the south of Vietnam. In the niche of one of the walls of the cathedral, the ashes of people from the exhumed Catholic cemetery of Nha Trang are buried - in 1988, the city needed land for the construction of a railway station.

This temple was originally built at the end of the 19th century, but in a different place. A very strong storm destroyed the once high pagoda and then the temple was rebuilt, but already on high mountain. Near the pagoda is a fairly well-equipped and well-groomed area. Very much like a park.

They didn’t come up to me, they looked and probably thought: “Well, let’s stay away from him, he’s so big.” Behind the back of the statue they saw a small cemetery.

In the Middle Ages, in the central and southern part of modern Vietnam, there was a kingdom of Chams (or Chams), who professed Hinduism, were engaged in maritime trade and sea robbery. The time has come and the "cute" neighbors of the Chams - the Vietnamese and Khmers - destroyed the Cham kingdom. The Cham people were scattered across the Indonesian and Philippine islands, someone ended up in China, someone in Cambodia. So the Chams were gone, and only these 4 towers remained in their memory. What was the symbol of the city before that? In general, an exhibition center is located on 6 floors of this building. But they were not inside, something was not interested, maybe in vain.

There are several local Russian-speaking tourist offices in the city that offer inexpensive excursions. I was still in Russia, I read about the available offers and chose a company with a somewhat ambiguous name "Ivan Susanin". I just love their site. And the very first day upon arrival in Nha Trang, showing the taxi driver the address of the company, we arrived at their office. A very attractive young Russian girl offered us several tours to choose from. We chose three of them, each for one day. Pick up from the hotel in the morning. Delivered back in the evening. All day they ride, entertain, feed lunch. The cost of one excursion did not exceed $30 per person. I must say right away that everything was just wonderful and even sincere. It is clear that everything there is done for the entertainment of tourists, but I liked it. The program of the stay was well thought out, everything was calm and comfortable. First we saw the Yangbei waterfall.

There are goods that can and should be bought exclusively in Vietnam.

Firstly, these are products made of crocodile, ostrich and python skin. Wallets, handbags, belts, and maybe even shoes.

The Vietnamese own the technology of dressing such leather and making products from them. But, for example, in Cambodia they do not know how. All this is sold there, but brought from Vietnam and much more expensive. In Nha Trang there is a brand store "Ostrich and Crocodile".

The prices there were normal. I've had a crocodile purse from that store for 2 years now. And let the money there is not much, but what a beautiful!

Be sure to buy all sorts of balms and ointments in Vietnam. You can directly in the pharmacy or in company stores. Well, everyone knows the "asterisk", but there are more interesting potions. For example, ointment for joints "Cobrotex". Everything that was brought from Nha Trang was in great demand among relatives and friends.
