From Nha Trang to Phan Thiet on your own. How to get from Nha Trang to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) Phan Rang - Mui Ne - Phan Thiet - Mekong - about

In this post, I will talk about transport from Nha Trang to Mui Ne or Phan Thiet (it is located 5 kilometers away), about my experience of traveling on Vietnamese sleeperbuses (bus with a sleeper), and share information where to buy cheap tickets for this miracle (bus) .

I will also tell you about more comfortable ways to independently move from the resort capital of Vietnam to Phan Thiet and Mui Ne. Sometimes it is much more profitable, and 1000 times more convenient, not to go by bus, but first things first.

If after reading you still have questions, feel free to ask them in the comments. I will definitely answer your every question.

Distance from Nha Trang to Mui Ne (to Phan Thiet), how long to go

The distance from Nha Trang to Mui Ne is displayed on this map, it shows the route of the trip. Google helpfully drew us two routes, one straight to Mui Ne, and the second through Dalat. If you have free time, then be sure to look into this mountain town.

You can get to Dalat either on your own by bus, or buy a group tour (exact cost at the link). Read about the TOP Nha Trang tours in my detailed post.

Google maps says that the distance from Nha Trang to Mui Ne is a little more than 200 kilometers, in fact, there are about 250 kilometers. But this is not so important if you are driving on public transport and not on a motorcycle or moped. Some of my friends overcame this path on a moped, after which everyone was dissuaded from such a trip. :)

It is not so important that there are only 250 kilometers between Nha Trang and Phan Thiet, and it seems that it can be overcome in just 3 hours. In Vietnam, the bus will travel 250 kilometers in 6 hours. This is probably due to the speed limit on the roads, but you should also take into account the time for stops and a possible lunch break (approximately in the middle of the trip).

Between the specified Vietnamese cities there are railway communication, but the train does not travel much faster, the fastest will take you to Phan Thiet in 4 hours.

If you choose a taxi, you can get there in 3 hours, this is perhaps the fastest way, it is also the most expensive.

Transport between Nha Trang and Mui Ne, prices, travel time and comfort level

In this part of the post I will tell you about the main types of transport that you can use during independent travel between Nha Trang and Mui Ne.

Transport from Nha Trang to Mui Ne

Bus (book in advance) up to 10$ 5 o'clock
A train from 10$ 4 hours
Transfer (taxi) from 100$ 3 hours

Buses from Nha Trang to Mui Ne

The most convenient and cheapest way to get from the beaches of Nha Trang to the windsurfing mecca of Mui Ne is by bus. There is also a train service, but trains come to Phan Thiet (address of the railway station in Phan Thiet: ga Phan Thiết Phong Nẫm), which is five kilometers from the tourist village of Mui Ne. you need to understand first what locality you need.

Important! In high tourist season, tickets should be ordered in advance (at least a week in advance), there are a lot of people who want to leave, and there are a limited number of tickets and seats on the bus. If there are no free tickets for the date of interest, then try playing around with the dates.

Buying a bus ticket is very simple, here is a Russified site, where you can buy tickets for Vietnamese buses and trains. The prices are cheap, even with a small commission, but there is one trick, without knowing this one you can not find the tickets you need.

You should enter the names of cities in Latin, and this despite the fact that the site is completely Russified. If you enter the name of the cities in Russian, then the site will display a message: “We did not find anything similar,” but it’s worth typing in Latin and everything will be found right away.

  • Nha Trang is Nha Trang;
  • Phan Thiet - Phan Thiet;
  • Mui Ne - Mui Ne;
  • Dalat - Dalat.

The price of a ticket for a bus with berths along the Nha Trang Mui Ne route is approximately $10. This is the most cheap transport, cheaper only by hitchhiking.

Pay attention to this photo, it has all the answers to your questions. For example, we select the point of departure Nha Trang Hanh Cafe, and the destination Mui Ne Hanh Cafe. This means we are going by bus from Nha Trang to Mui Ne and Hanh Cafe is the name bus company, so he will bring the bus to his office.

If the site didn’t work out, then go to any travel office in Nha Trang and say a simple phrase “to Mui Ne pliz, one ticket”. If you are too lazy to go anywhere, then in hotels and guesthouses tickets for local buses are ordered directly at the reception, the overpayment will be minimal.

Several bus offices were discovered in Nha Trang:

  • The Sinh Tourist - website thesinhtourist.vn - location in Nha Trang at 90C Hung Vuong St.;
  • Hanh Café - website hanhcafe.vn, located in Nha Trang at 10 Hung Vuong Street;
  • Phuong Trang (or FUTABuslines) - website futabuslines.com.vn, located in Nha Trang at 7 Hoàng Hoa Thám.

Features of Vietnamese buses

Vietnam has its own transport features that you should get used to and do not resist, then your trip will be interesting and comfortable. Read this section of the post carefully, and you will have no questions left. In fact, local buses are a very convenient invention, especially sleeper basses. I try to move on them.

Sleeper bass or seated

When buying a bus ticket, you should take into account the features of the Vietnamese buses, namely what kind of seats it is equipped with (seated or sleeping).

  1. Sitting Bus (Sitting Bass) - a common bus with seating;
  2. Sleeping Bus (Sliping Bass) is a very convenient invention of mankind with lying places, somewhat reminiscent of a railway carriage.

Bus departure point from Nha Trang

As a standard, the bus starts from the place where the office of the transport company is located, and not from the shop where the ticket was sold to you. In such cases, a transfer from the hotel to the bus itself can be arranged - this is standard for all resort towns almost all over the world, and so Nha Trang has its own rules. But with the transfer there may be overlays, read about it further.

Any train, in any country in the world, is much more comfortable than buses. Vietnam has Railway, but local trains connect only major cities. Thus, the route from Nha Trang to Mui Ne will lie through Phan Thiet. In addition, before railway station should be taken by taxi or bus. This is the only minus of local trains.

The price of the trip will depend on the train, on the speed of its movement, on the class of the car (there are cars with improved comfort) and on the time of day. You should focus on $ 15 for a trip from Nha Trang to Phan Thiet. You can buy a ticket on the above site, in the photo you can see what the names of the stations look like.

There are trains going directly to Phan Thiet (Ga Phan Thiết station), such trains will bring you to the city center. You can use the passing train, they make a stop at the Ga Mương Mán station nearest to Phan Thiet.

The main thing here is to understand whether the selected train stops at an intermediate station, or follows it in transit. In this case, the city is 10 kilometers away, which can be overcome by bus, taxi, or hitchhiking.

Taxi from Nha Trang to Mui Ne

If you are used to comfort and value your time, then the best option there will be a taxi ride. Taxi in Vietnam is common, but the service is very expensive. The price of a prepaid trip (I recommend this option) from Nha Trang to Mui Ne will cost you about $ 100, if you take a car on the streets, you can save a little (the difference will be $ 10-15), or you can run into a swindler (this is not uncommon in Vietnam) .

Particular care should be taken in major cities and on popular resorts. About how a local motorcycle taxi driver bred me, read the link.

If you order a taxi "from hand", then you should look very carefully at the money that you give to the driver, and what he returns to you in the form of change (this is one of the crown taxi driver scams). Here I described the main tricks of taxi drivers with Vietnamese money, which the locals are willing to use against foreigners.

As I said earlier, taxi prices in Vietnam cannot be called low, even in comparison with Moscow and St. Petersburg. Local carriers charge for boarding, for dropping off, for waiting, for luggage, and God knows what else. Add to that the opportunity to be "warmed up" with surrender.

Considering all of the above, especially if the trip is long, then I recommend ordering a prepaid transfer (via the price link). In this case, you reduce the risk of payment to zero, since payment is made on the site. If the trip tripled you, then you can give the driver a tip, but he has no right to take any additional money from you.

If the trip is short, then you can take the car anywhere, but you should remember my warnings.

My experience of traveling by bus from Nha Trang to Mui Ne

The next morning at the appointed time, of course, there was no transfer, on hand was a receipt with payment and a phone number. I call from the reception at the specified number, they answer me that they say it is impossible to understand, I hand the phone to the hostess of the guesthouse.

After a calm conversation between the hostess of the guest house and the representative of the bus company (I think so), I understand that everything will be ok. I am sitting, worrying, watching the awakening outskirts of the Vietnamese resort town. Five minutes later, a shabby minivan arrives with the same driver, we rush through the streets of Nha Trang on this trough as if we are trying to escape from napalm. Wow, looks like we did it.

When buying a ticket, no information about the class of the bus was reported, and it’s good that there wasn’t. In front of me is a brand new air-conditioned sleeper for 140,000 dong.

In the passenger compartment of the bus there are 3 longitudinal rows of reclining recumbent seats, but the chairs are still not fully folded out, but a small angle remains, so it cannot be called a true sleeper, but the thing is very convenient. The arrangement of the seat-beds is as follows: 2 rows on two sides at the windows of the bus, and one in the center, on the second tier as well.

There is a warm blanket and a pillow at each seat, the blanket was very useful, during the trip the air conditioner worked, so I asked the carrier to turn it off, no one was going to turn off the air conditioner, and I pulled another blanket from the next empty chair and the long-awaited happiness came. The sleeper bass bed is designed in such a way that you can put your things at your feet, my small 20 liter backpack fits perfectly there.

The bus belatedly sailed from Nha Trang and sailed through the expanses of Vietnam. Some people always admire Vietnamese views, even if only garbage can be seen from the window, I will not argue that Vietnamese roads are very picturesque in places, but the road from Nha Trang to Mui Ne seemed insipid to me. First the industrial outskirts of Nha Trang, after the rice fields, then the villages and so on.

The route goes along the sea no more than 10% of the way, so it’s not very picturesque, specifying that Mui Ne is the end station of the bass, I fall asleep, but soon they wake me up and offer to use a 20-minute stop, which is very handy, if it’s three sleeper bass, but limbs are still swollen.

I consider an intermediate stop just for visiting the toilet, since the bus stop is not long and ordering food, and then hastily ramming it into yourself is a thankless task.

If I had known earlier that Mui Ne could be reached by sleeper, I would have traveled by night bus, and I would have saved the budget for the hotel and would have slept on the road.

An airport is a place where a person arrives on a new land for himself. When choosing a tour to a country of interest, they first of all look at the flights departing there, evaluate the distance from the hotel and other subtleties.
