The cost of a one-way flight on a ferry for an adult is from 62 to 91 euros, for a child - half the amount. A cabin will cost at least 2 times more, especially during the peak season.
If you are transporting a car, the price for a one-way flight is 139-239 €. You will have to pay extra for other transport: bicycle, van, motorcycle. It is cheaper to immediately buy round trip tickets - Mallorca is not cheap.
But for the transportation of pets, the price can jump up to 331 euros, if we are talking about a dog - the standard price for a place in a 4-bed cabin. On some flights, pets are only accepted if transport is available. The animal must have a veterinary certificate and originals of all documents.
In Barcelona, ferries depart from the Old Port, while in Mallorca they arrive either in Alcudia, the closest port, or in Palma de Mallorca, the most famous city islands.
The difference in price is minimal, but the travel time increases by an hour and a half.
The ferry is chosen by those who seek to have a quiet time, enjoying seascapes. The slowness of this type of transport sets you up in a lyrical way, besides, the service is excellent.
Fast and cheap: airplane
The distance from Barcelona to Palma de Mallorca is 277 km and the fastest way is by plane. The price of an air flight differs little from the price of a seat on a ferry, although it depends on the specific company and the day of the week.
On Tuesday, the price for an economy class ticket will be 29-39 €, and from Friday to Monday - at least 58 €. The minimum cost can reach 16 euros - less than a taxi in Barcelona from the center to the airport.
An airbus runs from the center of Barcelona to the airport every 5-10 minutes, a one-way ticket for which will cost 5.90 €. A return ticket costs 10.20 euros and is valid for 15 days. These buses run from 5.30 to 0.30, from the center to the terminal you will reach in 35 minutes. It is easy to recognize them - they are painted in blue and blue colors and they have a large inscription "Aerobus" on them.
When the bus is not available, you can take a taxi - provided you speak Spanish. When there are problems with communication, it is better to use it - so the driver will immediately know where to go. It is possible to get there by metro or a special RENFE train.
Once you have reached the airport, you can fly to Mallorca by plane on the next flight - they fly from 06.30 to 23.00 inclusive, but more often on weekends. All flights are direct and last from 45 minutes to 1 hour. All flights are carried out to Palma de Mallorca Airport, from where you will then have to get to the desired point on the island.

- Air Europa - from 26 € for an economy class flight;
- IBERIA - from 28 € for a one-way ticket;
- RYANAIR - from 16 €, but not on all flights and not every day;
- Vueling - from 30 € for an economy class flight.
Business class tickets are many times more expensive - from 272 euros. Unaccompanied children cannot fly, but the price of an economy class flight with baby will be 10 € more expensive. For children over 12 years old, the flight will cost about 20 euros - a little cheaper than an adult.
From Son San Juan, Mallorca's airport, the largest in all the Balearic Islands, buses number 1 and 21 go to Palma de Mallorca. Tickets worth 3 € are purchased directly from the driver.

- Bus number A11 from the airport to Magaluf and Peguera;
- Bus number A32 goes in 2 directions: Platja de Muro / Alcudia - Can Picafor and Cala Bona - Cala Millor;

We are not looking for easy ways, besides we travel quite often, so we chose tickets through Helsinki and with a transfer in Riga. Tickets airlines AirBaltic came out cheap (about 15,000 rubles per person in both directions with a flight from Helsinki), but had their limitations: luggage was paid separately (we flew with hand luggage), and you had to register online. Two weeks flew by. Five days were allotted for Barcelona. We did not try to cover as much as possible in one trip to Barcelona. After all, in the Catalan capital there are so many interesting places: cathedrals, basilicas, monuments, beautiful squares and narrow streets! And I want to consider everything, without hurrying anywhere. In addition, the suburbs of Barcelona: Figueres, Girona, Sitges - also attract tourists from all over the world.
For the first visit, we determined that we definitely want to visit the Gothic Quarter, see the Sagrada Familia by the great architect Antoni Gaudí, climb Mount Montjuic, walk along the main Las Ramblas, look at the Boqueria market and, of course, visit one of the most popular parks in the world entertainment - PortAventura.
Most of all, I like to combine in one trip a dynamic vacation in big cities and the tranquility of a beach holiday. This time we chose the Spanish pearl - Mallorca, and managed to live on two opposite parts of the island. So, first things first!

The trip was strictly planned by day, and we did not deviate from the plan. Briefly describing our journey, here is what happens:
1 day: departure to Finland. Since we have a Finnish Schengen, a trip through Finland was beneficial for us (we didn’t have to go there specially). So, early in the morning we took a bus from St. Petersburg to Helsinki Airport (we ordered a transfer). On an evening flight we flew from Helsinki to Riga. We had to spend 6 hours at the Riga airport, during which time we had dinner and even slept a little. In the morning we were already in Barcelona, tired, but with the anticipation of a great holiday.
2 day: Barcelona met us with great weather! In the afternoon we checked into an apartment booked in advance on booking.com. Despite being tired, after checking in, we immediately went for a walk around the city. And the first sight on our way was the Sagrada Familia.

Day 5 On a morning flight, we flew from Barcelona to a heavenly place - Mallorca. We took a taxi to the hotel, located at the westernmost point of the island. Sant Elm - picturesque and quiet place for a beach holiday.

9 - 11 days we lived in the JS Cape Colom hotel, located among the picturesque cliffs. His hallmark is observation platform on the top floor with breathtaking views. The hotel has an all-inclusive system, but the kitchen was not at all pleased. But I was very pleased with the presence of a good tennis court, the use of which was included in the price. Please note that this hotel is adults only. And rightly so, since the beach near the hotel is very peculiar, entering the sea is by stairs from a cliff.
Day 12 In the morning we moved to a hotel in the capital of the island - Palma de Mallorca. Here we spent only a day. On the first day we saw the main sights of the city - Cathedral and central square and Bellver Castle.

Instead, on cable car got to the famous castle of Montjuic, admired the beauty National Museum art of Catalonia, walked around the Olympic village, and even had lunch in the cafe of the Olympic stadium.

Day 15 In the morning we stocked up on cheese / jamon in the shops closest to the hotel. In the evening we flew to Riga. It turned out that on this very day - August 13 - Riga celebrates the day of the city. We hardly found our small hotel, had a delicious dinner in local restaurant(the food seemed to us insanely delicious compared to Spanish). We did not go to the square to watch the fireworks, as we were tired and did not want to freeze.
Day 16 In the morning we walked along the central streets of Riga, looked at all the disgrace that was happening on the streets after the celebration of the city day. After lunch we flew to Helsinki, from where we finally got to St. Petersburg by evening bus.
Prices in Spain
Holidays in Spain left a lot of positive emotions. What I especially liked was the general goodwill and openness of the Spaniards. And their language is just music to my ears! I even wanted to learn it in order to understand not only the well-known ones - “gracias”, “ola”, “buenos dias”, etc.

Of course, during the trip, we involuntarily compared holidays in Spain with Asian countries which we have visited. And everywhere there are pluses and minuses. The biggest disadvantage of Spain is the rather high prices for food, transportation, souvenirs, excursions. But it's all in comparison! But the pledge have a good travel- do not compare with the previous holiday. But planning independent travel to Spain, take more money! The average bill in a cafe is 30-60 Euros for two without alcohol, a taxi around the city is 10-20 Euros, entrance tickets, for example, to Aventura Park - 47 Euros per person.
A little about food
The only thing we were a little disappointed in Spain was the local food. Perhaps because of too high expectations. Before the trip, we read that Spanish cuisine can be considered one of the main attractions of the country, it is so good. We had lunch and dinner in many restaurants of different price ranges, from cheap cafes to a famous restaurant in Mallorca. But they didn't enjoy it much. Paella, gazpacho, tapas (various appetizers), chorizo - it's all, of course, delicious! But after a few days, I want something completely different. This does not apply to our beloved brie cheese, jamon and, of course, sangria!

When it comes to holidays in Mallorca, here everyone can find something to their liking. Either calm beach holiday and an evening promenade along the local streets (as, for example, in Sant Elm), or unbridled fun for young people in the Arenal resort.
In a short travel time, we saw a large number of sights of Barcelona, rested on the famous island Spain and even managed to see Riga a little. We will start our next trip to Spain from Madrid, and then we would like to see Seville, Zaragoza, Valencia, and the island of Tenerife. But even in Barcelona, we didn’t see all the sights, besides, we want to visit the Port Aventura amusement park again.

It is a good tradition for the second year in a row to extend the summer and exchange Moscow autumn rains for sun and warmth. It looks funny when you come to the beach with a 12-liter bucket, three of us, girls, and start making a cocktail at a brisk pace. By the way, it turns out not as alcoholic as it might seem: do not forget about the whole bag dangerous ice!
The myth that Mallorca is a fashionable resort was completely debunked. Nothing like that, quite ordinary hotels and ordinary beaches, without frills and bells and whistles. The locals told us that in Spain and nearby countries Mallorca is considered budget vacation(as I understand it, like Turkey for Russia).
90% of tourists in El Arenal are Germans. In Magaluf (another resort, to the west of Palma), on the contrary, it is predominantly British. So it remained a mystery at what historical moment such a division occurred, but the fact remained: during our stay on the island, we heard German speech much more often than Russian.
Perhaps, focusing on German preferences in music and parties, the owners of El Arenal clubs chose a specific format that we didn’t like at all: there are no usual beautiful clubs where everyone is in dresses, and the music is not in the tum-tum-tum style with German motives a la march. Therefore, in search of a good club atmosphere, it was decided to go to Palma (20 minutes from El Arenal by car / bus), to Tito's club, which was recommended by the locals as the best club in the city. The girls liked it, and that day, unfortunately, I was lying in the hotel, struggling with the acclimatization syndrome.
Island tours
The ideal option, of course, is to rent a car and drive yourself. But, if, like me, you use the rights exclusively as an ID when paying for purchases in a store, you can always use the services of local travel agencies that sell excursions in the surrounding area. We chose the route through the monastery of Lluc in the mountains, the port of Soller and the settlement of Fornalutx to another pretty village of Valdemossa. Basically, the road was represented by a mountain serpentine, driving along which on a huge bus it seems that now you will hit oncoming cars and overhanging rocks. Who gets sick (like me), take pills for seasickness ..
When we arrived at Lluc monastery, I wanted to quote Lermontov: “ A few years ago / Where they merge, they make noise / Embracing, like two sisters, / The jets of Aragva and Kura, / There was a monastery»..

I would like to give a few words to our guide, a native of Mallorca, Rafael. In his, I think, about 60 rather vigorous years, he spoke 6 (!) languages: ordinary Spanish, Majorcan dialect, German, French, Russian (because he is married to Russian Natasha), and of course English. Wishing to make his story understandable to all tourists present on the bus, Rafael duplicated the information in 5 different languages (excluding the local dialect).
Palma de Mallorca
In the "capital" of the island, you can walk for one day, it will be just right. The town is very pretty, a beautiful embankment, an old palace-castle towering above it, lovely streets, many shops, a port with yachts, and, as I said above, night club Tito's!

Of the unvisited
Ferries leave from Palma every day for neighboring island- Ibiza. Unfortunately, we did not get there, because:
1) you need to spend two full days there (arrive at 7 in the morning by ferry, leave things at the hotel, wander around the island, in the evening to the club, the next morning back), and out of the six available to us, it was a pity to spend them not on the beach;
2) on the days when Tiesto, Van Buuren and Guetta performed, the ferry ticket cost many times more + the entrance to the clubs themselves is also paid.
Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia
No matter how hard we tried, no one like Javier Bardem was found. As it was found out a little later, he himself is not from Catalonia at all, so you may have to go to Las Palmas, where he was born, and look there.
Catalonia, as you know, is a province of Spain, which is strongly striving to become independent. Catalan flags are hung everywhere, everyone loves Lionel Messi, the inscriptions are duplicated in two languages - common Spanish and Catalan. As our Spaniard friend Sergio said, if there was a referendum on independence from Spain, he would vote “yes”, motivating this not only with economic issues, but also with the fact that the identity of Catalonia, customs and traditions, are suppressed by Spain (Catalonia was conquered by the Spaniards which some time ago).
Where to live in Barcelona
Since we were going to spend exactly one week in the city, it was important to live in the center as much as possible and close to the necessary transport routes. After a short search, apartments were found Feel Good Apartments Plaza Cataluna at Santa Ana, 35 (street perpendicular to the Rambla, 5 minutes from Plaza Catalunya and about 10 minutes from the Columbus Column in Portal de la Pau in the port). The place is excellent, and a small entrance door, in the center of a busy street, added a special flavor - we felt like natural citizens when we opened it with our key, and without contacting any reception.
The check-in system is as follows: first you need to come to the office at Ferran, 11 for the keys. On the day of departure, the door will be locked at 11 a.m., so if you need to leave things, you can again walk to the office or (which is much more convenient) for a couple of euros, check in your luggage at the locker at Carrer d'Estruc (literally 5 minutes from the apartment) .

The day of arrival in Barcelona coincided with national holiday La Merce (September 24): all the Barcelona people were walking, there were many concerts and street performances. Surprisingly, among the crowds of people wandering around the city, not a single policeman was noticed, everything was quiet and peaceful. It was amazing that the column within the framework of the Festival of the Giants consisted entirely of joyful and satisfied residents of the city, even mothers with strollers paced, in contrast to the forced forced marches associated with May 1 or June 12 in Russian cities. The holiday ended with a beautiful light show projection on the building of the city hall, which we watched sitting right on the square on the paving stones together with the city residents and other tourists.
National cuisine and where to try it
The most popular are, of course, paella and sangria. I forced myself to eat a real seafood paella - incredibly tasty, despite the unpleasant-looking scallops and shells! Sangria poured in jugs, and the city became even more beautiful and pleasant from this!
In Barcelona, you must definitely eat fish and seafood, everything is fresh and very tasty.

In the city center, the favorite restaurant with the most delicious sangria has become Ambos Mundos at Plaça Real, 10.
We liked the breakfast the most. Pastisseria del Pi on Ferran, 12, where after the second visit we were already recognized. Coffee, croissants, pies, bruschettas, puddings, etc. (and during the time closer to dinner, and more substantial food).

It was a bit cooler in Barcelona than in Mallorca, but we couldn't miss the beach. An ordinary city beach with sand, starting right behind the residential areas. Well, it was colder, of course, compared to the calm waters of Mallorca.
If you walk from Barceloneta towards the W Hotel Barcelona along the Sant Sebastian beach, you can find an amazing bar salt located right on the beach. Wicker chairs stand on the sand, lounge-style music, pleasant cocktails, the sea splashes at your feet, the night sky .. It was very good.

Tibidabo Park
Everyone who watched Vicky Cristina Barcelona remembers old park entertainment and a red airplane - this is the park on Mount Tibidabo, where the seducer Bardem brought his two girlfriends.
The park is over a hundred years old, but you can ride the rides without fear that they will fall apart. Slides a la American are not at all scary, even I liked them. classy wildly high-speed train and carousel on chains.
From Tibidabo opens great view on the city, and it even seems that the statues of Christ on top of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart touch the cloud.
You can get to the mountain from the Avinguda Tibidabo metro station, first on the Blue Tram, and then on the funicular.
Montjuic
Montjuic is another viewpoint opposite Tibidabo. You can get there on a cable car that runs through the entire bay (a little scary, by the way), starting from metro Barceloneta. In general, Montjuic has a park, a Spanish village with the main attractions of Spain in miniature, and Olympic pools, but since the visit to Montjuic was scheduled for the penultimate day, I just wanted to take a walk and take another look at the city. Therefore, having reached the end point of the cable car, we began to descend to the Plaza de España in order to look at the Magic Fountain near the National Palace.
On the way, I found a cool Noa-Noa bar on Carrer de Lleida, 23, with a cheerful atmosphere and a Russian-speaking owner.
Port Aventura
How to visit Barcelona and not go to the amusement park Port Aventura. Even if you are afraid of slides. There is a direct train from Passeig de Gracia station (via Tarragona in the direction of Salou), and at the station you can buy a ticket to the park + return ticket. Helpful advice: check the schedule of return trains and if there are planned interruptions in transport communication for this day.
On the two most-most slides (Dragon Khan and Shambhala) we did not ride, because. I personally was even scared to look at them, and when I found out that in Shambhala they only fasten their belts, and their hands dangle, I decided that this was too much .. So, even if you are not a fan of extreme slides, it’s all the same in Port Aventura there is something to ride.
Furius Baco, for example, belongs to the “black”, but I even rode it with pleasure twice (it is located at the very beginning of the park). Oh my god, I just read that it accelerates to 135 km / h! .. This is not felt at all (tried to reassure).
Everyone liked it very much water attractions- Tutuki splash (Polynesia), Grand Canyon Rapids and Silver River Flume (Wild West). I advise you to buy a raincoat!
Return from Port Aventura back to Barcelona made me worry. At the scheduled time, the required return train did not arrive. He did not come even after an hour. And two hours later. It was already dark outside and even colder. People on the platform became nervous, no one understood how to get back to the city. Only local Spanish rastamans did not tense up, who, for the purpose of heating, kindled a fire right next to the station and urged everyone to relax. As a result, taxi drivers quickly found out about the transport collapse, and we drove back (2 hours by car) for 200 euros per car ... The Spaniards, what to take from them, they are constantly on strike, you see, and there was another strike on the railway!
I won’t write anything about Gaudi and Park Güell, you just have to go there, it’s a must see!
Transport in Barcelona
If possible, it is best to avoid the subway. I have never seen such an ill-conceived and inconvenient system. Firstly, it is incredibly stuffy there (on the platforms while you are waiting for the train) - after 10 minutes there is an irresistible desire to see the light again and breathe in the air. Secondly, you can wait for the train, but it will not come (by analogy with the railway). Well, the pointer system - where to go in order to go further, is clearly suffering. Better enjoy ground transport. The same goes for the way to the airport: it is better to take a bus or call a taxi (about 30-40 euros from the center) than it is not known how long to wait for the metro.
Shopping in Barcelona
Left for the last day. In the area of pl. Catalonia has three large shopping centers El Corte Inglés, as well as many small shops.
Needless to say, we didn’t have time to get around everything, already when we were dragging our suitcases to the bus to the airport, we saw a wine cellar and ran there for joy, but, realizing that we wouldn’t carry much, we returned. I didn't want to leave like never before! Barcelona is a wonderful hospitable city where you need to come for at least a week. This is one of the cities to which you want to return.
