From Malaga to Seville on your own. Railway in Malaga

So, you are going to Andalusia. And you go there not only for the purpose of swimming and sunbathing, but also to see wonderful Spanish cities- First of all, Granada, Seville and Cordoba. Each of these cities has a paramount attraction, we all know them: this is the cathedral in Seville, the Alhambra in Granada and the Mezquita in Cordoba. But apart from these super-sites in Andalusia there is a lot of interesting things.

The best time to visit Andalusia for sightseeing purposes are April and October. In October you can still swim, but the sea is already cool, about 20 degrees.

Step 1 to achieve the goal is to decide on air tickets to Malaga and accommodation. If you travel autonomously and are able to plan your vacation for a long time, buy air tickets in advance.

You can book an airport transfer in advance through

If you missed the time and there are no more tickets and hotels at an affordable price, you can buy package tour to one of the resort towns on the Costa del Sol and from there already make radial trips.

Unfortunately, holiday season on the Costa del Sol in October ends and charter programs are terminated.

Trains from Malaga to Fuengirola

Two branches depart from Malaga suburban trains: C-1 (along the coast) and C-2 (short branch to Alora).

The C-1 line we are interested in goes from Malaga before Fuengirola through resort towns Torremolinos and benalmadena. Electric trains (in Spanish - “cercanias”) start running at about half past five in the morning, finish at half past twelve at night, the interval is about 20 minutes.

End station commuter trains located in the center of Malaga, next to shopping center El Corte Ingles. From it to all the sights of Malaga can be reached on foot.

However, if you are traveling to other Andalusian cities and you need to transfer to a train or bus, then you need to get off at the penultimate station, Malaga Maria Zambrano ( Maria Zambrano). The train arrives on an underground track (like in the subway), you have to go upstairs and go left. Next to the suburban train terminal is the terminal long distance trains and checkouts. To go to the bus station, you need to pass the long-distance train terminal, go through the entire building (following the long side of the station). After leaving the building of the railway station, cross the road, and the bus station will be in front of you.

The schedule of electric trains and trains is on the website http://www.renfe.com/, which will become one of the main ones for you while preparing for the trip.

RENFE(Red Nacional de Ferrocarriles Españoles) - "National Railway Network of Spain". If on the city map you see a rectangle with the inscription "RENFE", know that this is a railway station.

The train schedule is here: http://www.renfe.com/viajeros/cercanias/malaga/index.html

In addition to electric trains, from each resort village You can easily get to Malaga by bus. Transport connection Convenient, buses run frequently.

Buying train tickets from Malaga, RENFE

Tickets to other cities in Andalusia can be purchased at home on the Internet, but if you do not want to be bound by rigid frames and like to act according to the situation, you can easily buy tickets on the spot in Malaga. Preferably in a day. However, at home on the Internet, do some preparatory work, namely: look at the schedule, select the appropriate option and prepare notes for buying tickets.

Go to our favorite renfe.com

We press the "Comprar" button, and the schedule opens, where we can navigate the prices and times.

So, we see that trains with the letters MD go from Malaga to Seville in 2 hours 37 minutes. If we take a ticket only one way (“ida”), it will cost 23-20, if there is a return ticket (“ida y vuelta”), then 18-55, only 37-10.

AVANT or AVE trains cover this distance 40 minutes faster, but they also cost almost twice as much.

Having roughly decided on the train, prepare notes, for example:

07/12/2017, 2 billetos par Sevilla , 9-15

At the box office, you simply give the prepared note and money to the cashier and get a ticket.

The process of buying train tickets is as follows. At the train station in Malaga, you enter the ticket hall, where ticket salesmen sit in a row along the wall, each seat has its own number. You print out a ticket in the machine (see what the locals do: which machine they approach and which button they press). Your queue number will be written on the ticket. After that, wait until your number lights up on the scoreboard and go to the specified checkout. You give the cashier a note and money and take the ticket.

It is better to go to Granada by bus - by train you need to change at Bombadilla station. See the bus schedule on the website alsa.es:

Tickets can be bought at the station or at special Alsa kiosks. When we arrived by bus in Malaga, we final stop(walking forward a little) we saw such a kiosk, where we bought tickets for the next day to Granada (at 8 am) and back (at 18 pm).

Torremolinos Tropicana Hotel

Torremolinos- the village closest to Malaga. We lived in the Tropicana 4 * hotel. This is already the outskirts of Torremolinos, which ends near the pier of pleasure boats Puerto Marina, smoothly flowing into the next village - benalmadena.

The hotel is good, located on the first line. The room is small. The food is delicious and varied. There is a supermarket nearby, and next to the hotel there is a small shop that sells local wine, fruits, as well as souvenirs and small things for tourists. Under the windows is the Paseo Maritimo promenade with shops and cafes along the edges, along which you can walk to the center of the village.

The bus stop (at Avenida Carlota Alessandri) is a 5-minute walk. To the train - uphill for 15-20 minutes. The nearest station to the hotel is Montemar Alto. At the reception, you need to take a map of the village and ask the hotel employee to mark the bus stop and the railway station on it.

Malaga, how to get there and what to see

We got to Malaga by bus number 110. Travel time is about 20 minutes. The cost is about 2 euros.

The final bus stop is located almost in the center of Malaga. Walking a little forward from it, on the other side of the street you will see a monument to a fish peddler with baskets. Stand face to face with the fish peddler, and on your right hand will be tourism office.

At the office, take a free map of Malaga, as well as the bus timetable №35 , on which you can climb to the fortress of Gibralfaro. Ask to mark the nearest stop of this bus on the map.

The bus runs infrequently. Bus schedule No. 35 at that time (2012): 9-40 on work, 10-20 on work, 11-00, 11-45, 12-35, 13-25, 14-10, 16-10 on days off, 16-50, 17-35, 18-15, 19-00.

If you got to Malaga on Sunday, remember that the entrance to the Alcazaba and Gibralfaro is free after 2 hours, so it’s better to leave them in the afternoon, and start exploring the city’s attractions with cathedral.

Don't rely on English. A few prepared phrases in Spanish can help you a lot. For example:

Dadme, por favor, un mapa de la ciudad— Give me a map of the city, please.

Necesito el mapa del centro historico– I need a map of the historic center

Donde est á la parada del autobús número treinta y cinco ? Where is the stop for bus number 35?

Muestre en el mapa, por favor- Show me on the map, please.

Donde esta (where) la estación de tren (train station)? el museo (museum)? la cathedral (cathedral)? etc.

The main thing is to convey to the Spaniard what you need, and there they will show you on the map or with gestures. Before the trip, I learned Spanish for three months on the way to work (a thin book in soft cover “Spanish in 90 Days” by Gonzalez, Alimova). As a result, my rudimentary knowledge of Spanish helped us a lot during the trip.

You will also need another useful phrase " Desayuno temprano» [desayuno temprano], which means "early breakfast". The fact is that breakfast in hotels starts at 7-30 or 8-00. If you are going on an excursion, you need to go to the reception in advance in the evening and order an early breakfast for yourself, indicate the room number and the time you will arrive, for example, at 6-30.

Granada, local transport

The bus from Malaga to Granada takes 2 hours. Leaving Malaga at 8 am, we arrived in Granada at 10 o'clock.

Buses No. 3, 33 run from the station to the historical center.

In the city center you may need minibus number 30. The stop is in front of the Cathedral. If you stand with your back to the cathedral, then the approached minibus will take you to the Alhambra. If you cross Gran Via and face the cathedral, you can take the same minibus number 30 to Albacín or Sacromonte. Thus, this minibus links the three main hills of Granada and the city center.

Near the church of St. Anna is the tourist office, where you can take free good cards Granada, Cordoba, Seville.
If you want to save time and effort, avoid queues at museum ticket offices, book Granada Card.
The Granada Card includes tickets to the main attractions of Granada (including all Alhambra sites) and travel by public transport. There is also a Card for children aged 3 to 11, which includes the same package as the cards for adults.

How to book tickets to the Alhambra

Now the most important thing is how to get to the Alhambra.

Organized with a tour

The easiest way is to take a tour at the hotel. Then you are guaranteed to get there without any hassle. The cost of the tour is 75 euros without lunch and 82 euros with lunch.

I am not a big fan of solving organizational issues and before the trip I hesitated whether to simply buy an excursion to Granada. As a result, we were satisfied that we went on our own: we had a good walk in the Alhambra and managed to see a lot in the city itself. However, those who chose sightseeing tour, I think, were also satisfied that they avoided a headache (how to get there, where to get tickets). They were comfortably, under the stories of the guide, taken to Granada and spent the same 4 hours in the Alhambra as we did. Only the city was almost not looked at, and it cost twice as much. In general, the choice is yours.

Book by yourself

If you want to travel to Granada on your own, you will need to book tickets in advance on the official website of the Alhambra https://www.alhambradegranada.org/

On the site in the upper right corner, you can select the language, including - hooray! - Russian.

The site is very clear. In the "Ticket Sales" section, you will find detailed information about the mode of operation, types of excursions and prices.

There you can also go to the ticket seller's website - https://tickets.alhambra-patronato.es/en/ (on this site there are already only two languages: Spanish and English) and select the desired option. The most common option is a day visit. Alhambra General- includes a tour of all the Alhambra sites open to the public and costs 14 euros (as of February 2018) + a small booking surcharge.

With Granada-card or Alhambra-card

If you realized it at the very last moment and there are no tickets for the dates you need, you can buy granada card, which I mentioned above. In addition to the Alhambra itself, it includes visiting other attractions of Granada and travel by public transport.

The Granada Card costs 49 euros - significantly more expensive than a regular visit to the Alhambra, so do not delay booking tickets, buy in advance.

Seville, how to get there and what to see

Seville can be reached by both bus and train.

The fast AVANT trains reach Seville in 1-55 (fare 42-00) and the leisurely MD trains in 2-45 (fare 23-20). It is more profitable to take round-trip tickets ("ida y vuelta") - then the one-way cost is 40% cheaper. We, unfortunately, could not take advantage of this benefit, since we drove from Seville to Cordoba, and only from Cordoba returned to Malaga.

On the train (about half an hour after departure) you will pass the impressive El Chorro gorge with sheer walls and so-called. "Royal Road", which is a narrow metal platform that runs along the rock wall. A very impressive show. It is better to sit on the left side.

In Seville, leaving the station, you need to go through the station area, cross the intermediate road, and there will be a bus stop. Buses 27 and 32 go to the city center (we stand with our backs to the railway station). Go to “placa de la Encarnación”.

We moved around the historical center on foot, all the sights are within walking distance. You can't cover everything in a day. What I would change in our program would be to sacrifice a boat trip on the Guadalquivir. Instead, I would have walked in the evening to Plaza de España, so that the next day I would “pick up the leftovers” (the Santa Cruz quarter and “Pilate’s house”) and leave early for Cordoba. This, of course, with a tough scenario and the most cursory inspection of the main attractions.

To the mandatory list of Seville attractions: the Cathedral, the Giralda, the Alcazar, Plaza de España - I would add the “house of Pilate”. And, perhaps, I would leave it in the end - for the most pleasant aftertaste.

Cordoba, how to get from the station to the center

The city is colorful and original, and we, of course, are wrong that we spent only half a day on it. In these half days fit Mesquite and Alcazar with its wonderful gardens - at a quite comfortable pace. There was not enough idle wandering around the city, looking into different corners. And it is very pleasant to walk on it.

For vacationers on the Costa del Sol, this city is easily and conveniently achievable. Trains from Malaga to Córdoba run frequently and take about an hour.

From the station you can drive to the center by bus, or you can walk for 15 minutes on your own. From the station building, you need to cross the wide street Avenida de America and follow it to the park area - Jardines de la Agricultura. Turn right and walk for about 10 minutes along the boulevard, turn left and now - you are already in the labyrinths of the old city.

In a day you can visit all the most interesting places in Cordoba.

Granada, Seville and Cordoba are the main tourist sites of Andalusia. In addition to them, there are many other interesting places in the area. First of all, this is

ronda

Nestled in the mountains old City Ronda is divided into two parts by a deep, narrow gorge, and this very circumstance makes it extraordinary and attractive. Parts of the city are connected by bridges. You can go down to the very bottom of the abyss, you can get close to the edge - photos from any angle are very spectacular.

The city has several churches and a monastery, a bullfighting museum, Mandragon Palace - the former residence of the Catholic kings and the present ethnographical museum. In the Palace of the Moorish King (or Casa del Rey Moro) there is a passage carved into the rock leading to the bottom of the gorge.

You can get from Malaga to Ronda by bus from Los Amarillos or Portillo (schedule - on the websites http://losamarillos.autobusing.com/ or http://portillo.avanzabus.com/). Travel time is two and a half hours. The cost is around 10 euros. The road is mountainous, serpentine, some complained about motion sickness.

Tangier and Gibraltar, excursions from the Costa del Sol

Resting on the Costa del Sol, you can, along the way, as if by the way, visit two more states - Morocco and Great Britain. The only thing you need for this is to be the owner of a Schengen multivisa, according to which you can repeatedly enter the Schengen zone.

In both cases, I recommend using organized excursions, so as not to bother with paperwork for admission to another country and not to miss out on some annoying little thing out of ignorance. Although it is quite possible to go to Tangier on your own. For this you need to regular bus or car to get to the city Tarifa– most southern point Europe, and from there ferries to Tangier leave every hour. You can buy a tour directly at the port ticket office, it cost about 50 euros, but most likely it is conducted in English.

Hello, friends.

Today we will go to amazing city, the capital of the region of Andalusia - Seville. We visited Seville in early November, or rather, on our own November holidays. We spent only 3 days in the city, but that was enough for us to understand what a beautiful, original and truly Spanish city)

But first things first. Today I will tell you how we got to Seville from Malaga, where we stopped and where we got the most positive emotions. And in the next article we will review the main attractions of Seville with our impressions of them.

Already out of habit, we went to Seville by train. There are many trains from Malaga, we chose certain ones, because. we found them to be the most suitable for the price and time. By the way, it is better to look at all prices and timetables in advance on the website of the Spanish railways: www.renfe.com

We bought train tickets on the day of departure, but having arrived at the station in advance. Apparently we were lucky, because. The train was full and there were no empty seats. By the way, when we went to, the train, on the contrary, was half empty and this relaxed us a little. Considering that there are already a lot of trains to Seville from Malaga, we did not think about buying tickets in advance. We were lucky, but in general, if we had known, we would not have taken such risks. Would have bought either online or the day before at Malaga train station.

We chose a train leaving at 10:40 in the morning. The price of a one-way ticket for an adult passenger is 19 euros (when buying a round-trip). Travel time 2:30.

We stocked up on sweets, cartoons and fun without incident reached Seville.

We walked from the railway station to the city center where we lived. Walk no more than 20-30 minutes, and this is taking into account the presence of a child in a stroller.

The hotel was booked by us in advance. The choice fell on Hotel America Sevilla . In general, the hotel was satisfied. 5 star location, walking distance to all sights. The rooms are large and good, the breakfasts are quite decent (for an additional fee). Of the minuses: the condo did not work well in our room and it was very stuffy at night, but when the windows were opened, it was noisy, because. all night long, city cleaning machines work on the street. Now, on the other hand, I understood when they lick everything like that) It would be possible to get confused and change the number, but we were frankly too lazy. Moreover, it didn’t interfere with Jan’s sleep, but we got used to it on the second night and didn’t hear anything)

So, having settled in and dropped our things, we set off to explore the city. As I wrote above, I’ll tell you about the sights themselves in the next article, but today I just suggest you take a walk with us through the streets of the city and look at it with our eyes...

Walk in the center of Seville.

Modern trams run in the center, but we never took a ride.

At different times of the day, Seville seems completely different.

You walk down the street, accidentally turned into some kind of arch, and there is such beauty ...

Historical Center Seville is very big. Its area is about 335 hectares. We walked around the center for 3 days, but did not understand where it ends at all. All the time came across some new streets and nooks and crannies)

The streets of old Seville are very authentic and addictive. Here, in every stone, you can feel the very real Spain that everyone is looking for. There is no need to look for it here. She is everywhere) Feelings of a holiday, the sounds of real flamenco and delicious food. All this you will find here - in the amazing and unlike anything Seville.

I never photograph monuments, but I couldn't resist here) This is Don Juan himself)

Cozy cafes in the alleys of the old city.

By the way about food. Seville is a complete feast of the stomach) I have never seen so many people eat at the same time in establishments. For example, several restaurants were recommended to us in our hotel: Bodega Dos De Mayo, Eslava and La Azotea. So friends, we could not get into these restaurants all weekend. And the reason is simple. In a restaurant designed for 20-30 people, 100 people ate at the same time. Ask how this is possible? It's very simple) Everyone eats standing nearby on the street, sitting on the sidewalks and neighboring fountains) I honestly even went inside once and immediately went deaf from the noise. The rumble stood really like a beehive. To place an order, you need to shout it to the bartender, who is not even visible behind the sitting crowd of people. Yes, yes, everyone at the bar is also eating and making noise) As a result, the cries of those who order, even louder cries of those who take the order, then cries about the readiness of orders, noise and laughter, people who are dining, which are like in an anthill, music, the sound of dishes ...

Oh yes, friends. This is real Spain) You go into such a place and you are covered) If you are in Seville, be sure to look into such establishments. By the way, we did manage to dine in one of these restaurants on Monday afternoon) The food really turned out to be simply divine. So it’s no wonder there are always so many people in them)

Restaurant Bodega Dos De Mayo on a weekend evening. You just can’t go inside, and crowds of people are sitting behind me right on the sidewalks and having dinner)

There are many such restaurants in the city. People take food and drinks and, standing on the street, eat it all)

From the same opera - you can put your beer on the hood of someone else's car)

Tables and chairs stand right on the edge and this does not bother anyone) This is Spain)

What they are sprinkled with, we did not understand, but we ate everything with pleasure)

According to our personal feelings, you should definitely get to Seville for the weekend. It is on Saturday and Sunday that the most interesting events on the streets, in restaurants and squares. Everywhere music, dances, songs. You walk down the street and every 300 meters someone performs. And male choirs, sing, so goosebumps; and break dancing boys; and playing on various musical instruments; and flamenco; and aerial juggling; and living statues. In general, people earn as much as they can, and all this is a joy for tourists)

Contact juggling

Here, on weekends, there are groups on roller skates.

And even tried to let them go)

Even the trams barely move, because. disperse such a crowd of walking people is not so easy)

Usually big cities do not leave warmth in the hearts. You can admire and be surprised, but still feel that you are in a metropolis. Seville is amazing. With a population of more than 600 thousand people, this city has managed to retain an amazing lightness, comfort and authenticity. Walking along the streets of the old city, we directly breathed history and beauty. Here, like nowhere else, in Andalusia, everything is done to ensure that you can see the real Spain. You will touch the culture and traditions of this country. But quite a bit) Just so that there is still room for a mystery in your soul and you return to this enchanting region of Spain. We returned to gasp inside the cathedral, climb the famous Giralda, dance in the Plaza de España and burst into tears at a real flamenco ...

My husband and I, without saying a word, dreamed of getting to Malaga for a long time. He wanted to visit the Picasso Museum, and I wanted to lie on the beach and shop. We didn’t even book a hotel in Malaga, but went one day from. I must say right away that I simply did not have enough time to lie down quietly near the sea. Will have to come here next time.

Seville to Malaga by car

We are a little sorry that we did not rent a car, because on this route it would have been both a convenient and inexpensive means of transportation. I was looking for a car using several search engines (I also looked), and came to the conclusion that the option of at least 50-60 euros per day is suitable for us. In general, if you are going to rent a car in Spain for the first time, it would be nice to read the article first. It not only describes all the pitfalls of the lease, but also talks about toll roads and the behavior of drivers on the roads. The path from Seville to Malaga lies through the following highways: A-92, A-45, AP-46 and A-7. It will be necessary to pay for a paid site about 4 euros. Well, gasoline will cost about 20-30 euros, depending on the consumption of your car. If the track is not loaded, it will take only 2.5 hours to travel 210 km.

From Seville to Malaga by train

The train is one of the fastest ways to get to Malaga. They depart every 20 minutes - 3 hours from SANTA JUSTA Station (Av. de Kansas City). Some of them (only MD trains) also stop at the SAN BERNARDO (Calle Dr. Ordóñez de la Barrera) station in Seville. Train traffic to Malaga starts at 06:50 and ends at 20:02, with a total of 11 trips per day. Passengers are delivered to the MALAGA MARIA ZAMBRANO station (at Explanada de la Estación) in 1:55-2:44, depending on the train route. Two types of trains run on this line: AVANT and MD. To understand what service is offered on board, what equipment is in the salons, and in general to learn a lot of useful things about the railway in Spain, you can study the article.

Buying tickets

I always try to "catch" profitable tickets. To do this, you need to periodically visit the site and monitor prices. But you can buy a ticket right before boarding the train at the box office, if there are empty seats. Or try to make friends with the ticket terminals in the station building.

Fare

A one-way ticket will cost between 24.10 and 43.60 euros.

From Seville to Malaga by bus

The Alsa bus is also a pretty good option if you need to get to Malaga. On weekdays, they run quite often: at 07:00, 08:00, 12:00, 15:00, 18:00 and 19:30. On Saturday there is no last flight, and on Sunday the schedule is: 12:00, 15:00 and 18:00. All buses depart from the Plaza de Armas bus station, located on Puente del Cristo de la Expiración el Cachorro. They reach Malaga to ESTACION DE AUTOBUSES on PASEO DE LOS TILOS (right next to the railway station). On some flights it is possible to reach seaport or Malaga airport. The price will not change depending on where you need to get off in Malaga, only the ticket must be originally purchased exactly before these stops. Otherwise, the driver will not take you further than the bus station. Travel Seville-Malaga will take you 2.5-4 hours.

Buying tickets

You can buy tickets online, at the box office or at one of the specialized points of sale. The earlier the purchase, the cheaper the ticket.

Fare

  • Before the trip - from 18.57 to 23.52 euros.
  • In advance - from 5.25 euros.

Conclusion

At first we were going to rent a car. But when I saw bus tickets for our dates for 5 euros, I bought them immediately, without hesitation. The trip turned out to be quite comfortable, the Wi-Fi worked well, the seats were comfortable.

I already wrote how this can be done. Our goals were to visit the Picasso Museum, wallow on the beach and go shopping. Since we have chosen public transport, and not a car, not all of our plans were destined to come true. Still, one day in the city is not enough.

Malaga to Seville by train

From railway station MALAGA MARIA ZAMBRANO, which is located on Explanada de la Estacion, there are 11 direct flights per day to Seville. To a person who first encountered the Spanish railway, these names are unlikely to say anything. The article contains a lot of necessary information about railways, trains, and fares.

Drive from Malaga to Seville
