3. Recreational facilities (bathrooms) are available on every island, but in the first place they are very surprising and disappointing.
4. Tourist accommodations ( hotel complexes) are located only on the island of Phi Phi "Don". On the rest of the islands, there are practically no places to stay for the night. There are only bamboo bungalows.
5. Transport infrastructure: boat communication between the islands and air communication with the mainland by small-seat helicopters or aircraft of a local airline.

One of the important sights of Phi Phi is the observation deck at a height of 186 meters, which I visited during my vacation on the island.

The site consists of 3 levels: one is located above the other. To get to that most incredible view, I had to work a little. Namely, to survive a good cardio workout while climbing up a very narrow and steep staircase.

Considering that I did it in the morning and it was very hot, it was even harder.

After overcoming the stairs, I was met by the ticket office, where I bought a ticket for 30 baht (about 0.80 euros) and slowly headed to View point 1. Interestingly, the observation deck at each level is decorated with bright sculptures in the form of vegetables or animals. Also at the first level, you can take a photo with the letters “I love Phi-Phi”. As for the view, it is beautiful: the isthmus between two beaches appears to the eye. And interestingly, the water is dark blue on one side and bright turquoise on the other. From here you can also see palm forests and rocks in the distance.

The second point was located a little higher. The road to it was already smoother and less steep. On point view 2 there is a mini cafe where you can buy soft drinks like a cocktail, soda and eat ice cream. Of course, you can't really eat here.

I also went to the souvenir market, which sold magnets, cards with the image of the island, as well as various accessories.

I didn’t climb the third point, because it became unbearably hot: the sun was beating down with all its might and I wanted to hide in the shade, which was nowhere to be found on the site.

I very much regretted that I did not come to the site by sunset ...

It is the lowest one and you can get to it in 5 minutes along the steps starting next to the guesthouse. Climbing up, you will pass a few more guesthouses. The last one will be (excellent views also open from its windows). From here to the observation deck 2 minutes.

Next to the last step sits a ticket attendant who collects 20 baht for entry. This is motivated by the fact that private area and the money goes to keep it clean. Nearby there are about a dozen houses where you can stay, there is a tour desk and a massage parlor. In principle, the observation deck is not so high and the views here are mediocre. It's better to walk 5-7 minutes to the second site - that's where the view is really cool.

The main observation deck or just observation deck No. 2 (it is written on all the View Point-2 signs) is the most visited and it is not for nothing - it offers stunning views of Phi Phi Island and the village of Tonsai. Here you can have a snack or a drink. There is a massage parlour. There are a lot of people in the evenings, because everyone comes to meet the sunset (it starts to get dark after 18-18:15). But those who want to get up early and see the dawn over Phi Phi are usually not found. The rest of the time there are few people - 2-3 people or no one at all (especially in the low season).

From View Point 1 there is an asphalt path half a meter wide.

How to get there

1. Get from Tonsai village.

Immediately hangs a sign to the observation decks and there are stairs leading up. Climb up them. You will go through a few more passes. The last one will be, from the territory of which a good view already opens.

After a few minutes, be at the entrance to the first observation deck. A person sits at the entrance and collects an environmental fee of 20 baht. Further up there is an asphalt path half a meter wide, which will lead you to the place in 5-7 minutes.

2. Access by road from the Valentine Bungalow.

You can also get there in the second way, which, by the way, is more famous than the previous one and for the first time many tourists climb the mountain along this route.

The second road starts right after. These bungalows are a dozen yellow one-story houses, standing in a row along the road. After the last house, the road turns left. This is a wide paved highway.

Here you will see - the only one in Phi Phi. Immediately behind it, the road goes uphill. On the left there will be a small artificial reservoir (not to be confused with a huge reservoir, next to Loh Moo Dee beach) and a small boxing ring.

An asphalt road leads to reverse side islands (just to). You only need to walk along it for 10-15 minutes to the fork on which the sign hangs: to the left - View point 1-2-3, to the right - to and Loh Moo Dee 3 km. You need to turn left onto a country unpaved road going through the forest.

After 10-15 minutes you will see a small Thai settlement, and after another five minutes, turn left under the View point 2 sign. And in a minute you will be at the observation deck No. 2. If you go to the right, then after 10 minutes go to the observation deck number 3.

Most importantly, do not forget that there are signs everywhere, follow them and you will get to any place on Koh Phi Phi Don.

View Point 3

lookout point is a 10 minute walk from the second. Pointers hang there (View point-3). A huge tower will serve as a reference point (it is visible from many points of the island), it is next to it that this place is located. Halfway from the second to the third site there are several Thai houses and a bar where you can freshen up from the road. It even has a TV.

Although the third observation deck is the highest, the panorama from it to Loh Dalum and Tonsai is worse than from the second. The fact is that here the trees somewhat interfere with the view and the village of Tonsai is only partially visible. But excellent views of the western part of Phi Phi and the nearest islands.

Here you will not be offered drinks and massages, as in the first two. It is not equipped in any way, with the exception of a small gazebo, where a hammock sometimes hangs. There are very few people for the simple reason that it is not so easy to find (many generally believe that the second site is the last and there is nothing higher).

Here you can also meet the sunset, but the main thing is to leave on time, without waiting for complete darkness. Otherwise, you will have to go back down through the jungle, where you can not see a single thing. And in the dark, stepping on a snake does not take long and you can twist your leg on steep slopes. If you have a flashlight, be sure to take it with you.

Observation deck next to the reservoir

Few people know about it, and the views from it do not open on the beaches and neighboring islands but on an artificial lake. There are no pavilions and nothing at all, except for huge blue tanks of water.

How to get there

1. From Tonsai Pier and the center of the island.

On the road that leads to the center of Phi Phi Island and starts right behind the yellow bungalows. An additional reference point can be, which is located at the beginning of the road. The road to the artificial lake coincides with the one that leads to Long Beach on Phi Phi through the center of the island (point number 6 in the article).

The road is paved and wide. Climb up it without turning anywhere. In 10-15 minutes from it there will be a branch to the main viewing platforms 1-2-3 (there is still a sign hanging there: to the left - View point 1-2-3, to the right - Long Beach and Loh Moo Dee 3 km). To your right - along the paved highway, to the Loh Moo Dee beach). After 10-15 minutes, the asphalt will end and you will see an artificial reservoir (you will pass a cottage-type settlement along the way).

As you come to this lake, then go to the right and then to the left (along the sandy road running next to it). As the lake ends, you will see a fork. If you go straight, you can walk to Long Beach and Loh Moo Dee. If you go to the right and up, then in a couple of minutes you will be on the observation deck.

2. From Loh Moo Dee beach.

To do this, go through the palm grove and climb the path up. As you find yourself at the fork, choose the path to the right (if you go straight - after 5 minutes you will be on Long Beach) - this path will lead you to an artificial lake in 5 minutes. Before reaching the lake, go up the road leading slightly to the left and up.

3. From Long Beach.

It goes to the observation deck from the western side of Long Beach (this side is closest to Tonsai). From the beach, climb up the narrow path with rope railings. You will see two roads. If you go to the left, you will get to the Viking Hotel, but the path to the right is the one you need.

There is only one road here, so you are unlikely to get confused. On the way you will meet a house (in 2012 it was just under construction). Immediately after it, the road splits into two: to the right and up - to the observation deck (you will reach in 1-2 minutes), to the left and down - to the Tonsai beach (go to the coast not far from the only school on Phi Phi).
