And during our fourth trip to Thailand, we visited this park. Before leaving for Pattaya, we first lived in Bangkok for 5 days, so we were able to devote the whole day to Lumpini Park.

How to get to Lumpini Park in Bangkok

On the "air metro" we got to the Sala Daeng station (you can also take the underground metro to the Si Lom station). The exit from this station leads to the main entrance to shopping mall"Force". We chased her for a long time and waited for her to finally sit on the flowers so that we could photograph her calmly.

Hunting for monitor lizards

Lumpini Park has large ponds where monitor lizards, carps, turtles and herons live. On the central huge pond you can ride catamarans. We walked around the park all day, relaxing in the shade of trees. For lunch, we ate local delicacies: Thai tea and banana chips with jam, pineapple and boiled corn (you can buy all this at the entrance to the park).

But in the late afternoon monitor lizards actively began to appear either near the pond or under the trees, and we began to literally follow them on their heels to take good pictures. I especially got one large monitor lizard, which all the time scrambled from me, and I constantly ran ahead of him. He was taken aback, probably from my impudence, he kept trying to peacefully bypass me and leave. But, in the end, this monitor lizard realized that he would not get rid of me so easily, and made one last attempt - he quickly draped me onto a tree. Here I was already taken aback, as I was very surprised by the ability of monitor lizards to easily vertically climb trees!

In fact, all monitor lizards living in the park are very peaceful and show absolutely no aggression towards people. They just don't like being taken out by overly curious tourists and try to peacefully retire to a pond or climb a tree.

Hunting for beautiful photos

Walking all day in Lumpini Park, we watched with interest how many Thai families came there for a picnic. They settled right on the grass of the lawns. And closer to sunset, lovers of an active lifestyle and physical education came. There are many places in the park where there are simulators and anyone can use them. Convenient cycling and jogging paths are laid along the entire perimeter of Lumpini Park. Leaving the park, we watched as many Thais and tourists ran along these paths. In the crowd of runners there were even very, very old men who did not lag behind the youth, as well as (where could they be without them) large groups of Chinese athletes.

Finished our day after a walk in Lumpini Park with a pleasant shopping in the Silom shopping center, which is located across the street. There were very good promotions at that time, we especially liked the big discounts on Mango brand products. Already late at night we were happy and returned to our hotel with purchases.

In general, after spending the whole day in the park, we did not regret the time spent at all. We really liked Lumpini Park in Bangkok, and we brought wonderful memories and, of course, videos and photos as a keepsake. Let's see them together!

What to do in Lumpini Park - monitor lizards and turtles

Having bought a couple of packages of cola and local go-dogs, we went in search of monitor lizards, because of course, Lumpini = monitor lizards are everything
known.
And if you don't know, I'll tell you. Many years ago, monitor lizards were brought here. Monitor lizards are harmless, in principle, creatures for people,
they shun the general public and do not lash out, walking by themselves.

After a while, the population of monitor lizards in Lumpini parks multiplied and these handsome men walked imposingly here and there, bringing
to delight the audience. Thick, unhurried, beautiful monitor lizards.
But one day, an unlucky monitor lizard climbed a tree, fell on an unsuspecting aunt who was under this tree
settled down. The aunt was frightened, the monitor lizard even more and tried with all his might to climb up the aunt higher, where he had fallen from.
The scratched aunt was upset and made a scandal. Most of the monitor lizards were taken out of Lumpini, so our walk was like a quest - find the monitor lizard.

• Underground metro MRT. You need to get off at the Si Lom station (blue line), rising from the subway you will find yourself right in front of the park. The fare is 20-30 baht.
• Skytrain BTS - Skytrain. Go to Sala Daeng Station (turquoise BTS Silom Line). The fare is 40-50 baht. When you get out, do not rush to go down to the ground, go through the overpass to the Si Lom metro station, go down and cross the road towards the park. If you live near the Green Line (BTS Sukhumvit Line), then you will need to get to SIAM Station and transfer to the Turquoise Line to Sala Daeng Station.

47. On major holidays, half of the city gathers in the park, both the Thais themselves and other nationalities that live here, a lot of Chinese and Koreans. As a rule, there are also a lot of tourists, but since the holidays are Thai, the locals have a tangible advantage. They arrange various fairs here, field kitchens, sell food in huge quantities and all sorts of trinkets. Concerts, various show programs are held. In general, quite fun, the only negative is that it is too crowded. 🙂 But it’s still worth taking a look, trying some local kulebyaki, watching performances.
