  • Motor ship M-8 resumed navigation on the route Chelny - Sokolki. This year the season was opened four months later than usual. All this time, the ship was in Bashkortostan on a scheduled overhaul of the engine. Then the entrepreneur for a long time received a license for the right to carry out Passenger Transportation. So far, the ship departs daily from the Chelny pier in the morning at six-fifty. But not everything is so rosy. Why the question of saving the route remains open, Albina Minnebaeva will tell.

Sergey Androv, captain of the M-8 motor ship: « We have three cabins for passengers».

On the repaired motor ship M-8, about a hundred seats. But there are very few who want to sit on them. Most of the time they are empty. This year, the ship resumed its traditional route from Naberezhnye Chelny to Sokolki only in August. Usually the start was given in April. The ship sails from Naberezhnye Chelny, stops at the piers of Yelabuga, Nizhnekamsk, near some villages. Its final point is Sokolki. This route along the Kama was laid from the foundation of the river port in Chelny around the 1940s. Then the route was a great success among the population. But today only our neighbors need the ship.

“In Nizhnekamsk there are dachas, villages - all are located on the right bank. And in order for them to get there, they need to run through Naberezhnye Chelny. And it’s very convenient with us: 20 minutes and they are in the village.”

More than three million rubles were invested in the repair of the vessel. Now the ship is owned by a commercial company. The owners of the vessel hope and rely on the mercy of earthly departments. The economic profit for the company is minimal. For a month, about 88 thousand rubles come to the company's budget from ticket sales. However, more than thirty thousand rubles are spent daily on the maintenance of the ship.

Ildar Abunashilov, director of the river port "Naberezhnye Chelny":"We are on this moment wrote a letter to the Ministry, as it is socially important for the city. Unfortunately, we have not yet received an answer. As long as we have the opportunity, we will keep this route. Otherwise, we are simply forced to stop this flight.” The ship's captain is confident that the M-8 will continue navigation. And his fifth season won't be his last.
Sergey Androv, captain of the M-8 passenger ship:“I think that it will still exist for a long time, because it is in demand, it is in demand, people travel, they need it.” Definitely, the ship will run along the Kama until August 25. But already today, returning from Sokolki, due to the lack of passengers, the ship may not return to the Chelny pier.

The project of the ship was developed by the Central Design Bureau of the Minrichflot of the RSFSR in 1947.
A series of pleasure boats "Moskvich" (projects 515, 544, 544M) was produced from 1949 to 1954 at the Moscow Shipyard (MSSZ). Motor ships of project 544 were also built later, for many years at various factories in the USSR (for example, in Kherson). Motor ships built in Kherson received the designation "type PT", although they essentially did not differ from the Moscow "Moskvich" and were built according to the same project (project 544). Motor ships "Moskvich" were built more than five hundred.

"Muscovites" did not receive their own names; a combination of the letter M and the ship's serial number was used to identify them, for example, M-270. In the nineties, some Muscovites sold to a private owner received proper names.

Motor ships of this type were operated mainly as pleasure-excursion vessels, as well as in the mode public transport. Many of these vessels are currently in operation. Now they are often the property of private companies and, when converted accordingly, are used for corporate parties and other similar events.

    Modifications.

In addition to Moscow, ships of this type were built in Kherson, Tyumen, in the villages of Samus near Tomsk and Listvyanka on Lake Baikal, as well as in Blagoveshchensk, Bobruisk (Belarus) and Kaunas (Lithuania). Ships built in Kherson, Samus and Blagoveshchensk received the designation "type PT" (for example, "PT-150"), although they essentially did not differ from the Moscow "Moskvich" and were built according to the same project (project 544). Tyumen "Moskvich" were designated by the letter "T". Bobruisk-built ships were designated with the letter "C". Project 544 Lithuanian ships were assigned their own names. To improve safety, on some "Moskvich" Siberian and Far Eastern buildings, instead of the windows of the salons, portholes were installed.

Vessels with the designation "PT" should be distinguished from open vessels for crossings of project 792, which also received the designations "PT".

In Bobruisk, they specialized in the production of a shallow-draught modification of the Moskvich for the rivers and lakes of Belarus and Ukraine. Vessels of this variety can be found in Vinnitsa ("Lalya Ratushna" and N.I. Pirogov), Ternopil Lake ("Hero of the Dancers"), in Grodno ("Olga Solomova"), etc.

In the then Leningrad, a slightly modified version of the Moskvich was produced on a similar hull, which was distinguished by a different superstructure with a reduced overall height. These vessels had the designation "L" (for example, L-14) and are known as the "Leningradets" type, project 564. Unlike the "Moskviches", the "Leningraders" do not have open decks. The Muscovites have access to the pier located above the engine room, while the Leningraders have engine room made in the form of a small compartment under the helmsman's cabin and inside the entrance platform, and the level of this platform was lowered to a fender.
