Last year, I got a vacation in October, and without thinking twice, I decided to spend it in Tunisia. I chose Mahdia for its transparent, clean sea, still so gentle and warm in the middle of autumn. The hotel is quite pleasant for the money for which it was offered at that time by tour operators. I flew in alone, which is probably why I was given a very modest room, a little shabby, without a balcony, the windows overlooked a flat roof located above the main entrance to the hotel, sometimes restaurant smells were felt in the room from the first floor, but it was not very annoying. But in the evening it opened from the window beautiful view to the sunset, which was not visible from the sea, because the hotel building blocked this view. I arrived only for ten days, so I didn’t bother with changing the number. They cleaned the room well, at least the floor was always clean, the bed neatly made, after leaving a moderate tip, swans appeared, decorated with hibiscus flowers. The only thing that bothered me about the staff was his slowness. Wine at dinner the waiter had to order well in advance to wait for it at least for dessert. Although the boy making omelettes for breakfast was quite nimble, he juggled pans like an experienced magician. I would rate the food at the hotel as a four, I did not notice any special culinary delights from the chef, in my opinion there were not enough fruits. Several times there were theme dinners of Tunisian cuisine with national dishes, couscous and Tunisian sweets with honey seemed especially delicious. The beach met my expectations: white sand and warm sea with almost no waves. There were enough sun loungers and umbrellas for everyone both on the sand and on a wooden platform located just above the beach. I also liked that you could put sunbeds right on the grass and lie in the shade of palm trees. Right in the hotel there is a thalassotherapy center, but the prices for the procedures, to be honest, are very inhumane, therefore, having previously familiarized myself with the price list, I decided not to go there. The animation at the hotel was rather sluggish, maybe the end of the season had an effect. Starting in the morning with leisurely gymnastics on the lawn, by eleven o'clock all the efforts of the animators stopped completely, and until the evening the vacationers were left to their own devices. In the evening it was also quite boring, people with glasses moved smoothly from the restaurant to the bar, where they spent the rest of the evening in calm contemplation of the table neighbors. Uninteresting for young people, but quite enough for German pensioners, who were the vast majority in the hotel. So if you want to relax in peace and quiet, then you will be fine here - the hotel still falls short of a four, although with difficulty.
