I want to immediately make a reservation that I am writing a review as a mother of a 2 year old child! I myself am not the first time in this country, with a child this is already the second vacation (though not in this country) and therefore there are impressions of the rest. And perhaps having gone to this hotel with a girlfriend, together with her husband or a cheerful company, the impressions would be different, since I would not care about a good sleep at lunchtime, at night, regimen, food and comfort!
The flight from Moscow flew during the day, my daughter played, walked on the plane, watched cartoons (saved the tablet), while drinking and eating, slept for 2 hours, then they gave out a set of games in a box and that's it ... landing. Flying Transaero Boeing 747 took with an additional charge a place on the 2nd floor for business back and forth. The flight back was delayed for 2 hours, the flight was at 22, this is her time to sleep and she slept the whole flight. But changing the time zone for the child was very difficult. It seems to me that children up to a year are easier to bear, and it was a pity to look at older children - exhausted, swollen, pale, with sleepy eyes, they fell asleep at dinner right at the tables. Ours was the same, at night I could not sleep for 3-4 days normally, both upon arrival there and upon returning home. At home, in general, only today I slept the first night on December 19, and we flew in on 13! We decided not to torment the child anymore and look for an alternative, or the possibility of a vacation in the summer (due to the specifics of work, the husband cannot)
Upon arrival in Punta Cana. There was no queue, we skipped the line with the child. An individual transfer from the airport was ordered ... from this the mood began to deteriorate in anticipation of the vacation. And the vacation was long-awaited! We made a mistake and didn't provide transfer. The child passed out at the airport as soon as we received the stroller and we were traveling in a shared bus. Well, at least there were not many people and it was a 30-minute drive. But this does not apply to the hotel. The hotel was at 4 am in Moscow, in the DR, respectively, 20-00. We booked a room in Bavaro with a mark on the 2nd-3rd floor and with a surcharge for a superior room under the contract. Placement took 20-30 minutes. They brought me to the room building 71 on a delivery. Honestly, I have not experienced such a shock for a long time. As soon as they opened the door, a terrible smell of mold hit the nose, a huge mosquito sat on the floor, heaps of dead midges, mold was visible on the walls and ceiling of the bath and under the air conditioner. From this kind of numbers and fatigue, I wanted to cry and go back home! I put my sleeping daughter on the bed and the blanket HORRIBLE (this is not nitpicking) smelled of mold and everything seemed to be damp. And then the adjacent door opens and a girl from our plane enters, they were settled in the next room and we were separated by an adjacent door, the audibility was colossal, I heard what they were saying not loudly. My husband went to the reception twice and said that we would be relocated at least a night to spend the night in normal conditions. While he spent 3 hours figuring out how I didn’t try, the child and I were bitten by mosquitoes. At 7 a.m. Moscow time, we were transferred to a room at the Premier Hotel, which is an order of magnitude cheaper than Bavaro, far enough from the sea on the 3rd floor of building 53. But many times better quieter and calmer than this Bavaro anthill, as it turned out later. Only the next day, after 2 pm, we were able to move to Bavaro in building 30, number 311. 5 minutes walk to the sea and 5 minutes to the restaurant. With a small child, this is convenient, since movement is mainly a stroller, either on foot or on dad's neck. A couple of times we went on a delivery, but while you are waiting, you will get there faster yourself. And there is still a chance that the place will not be free.

I was in a similar hotel and there were even more territories! Not only in this country, but also in other countries, and for the first time faced with such a situation! I read reviews about the hotel who rested with children. I repeat once again that I am not whining, but I am indignant at the fact that when booking the hotel all the conditions were discussed, the notes were sent and the hotel confirmed everything, therefore, I think that they could immediately offer an alternative, since by our arrival on November 21 the hotel had not yet been so crowded as say in 5 days! Well, I couldn’t understand why not offer an alternative right away, knowing that all the good rooms are already occupied, even if in the Premiere (they offered only after 3 hours of communication at the reception), even with an extra charge to Esmeralda, seeing that a family with a small child , we were the only ones at the reception with a baby. On the issue of communication, my husband was fluent in English.
Okay, the vacation started like from the second day.
ROOM is good spacious, large bed and sofa, plasma TV, ironing board, mini-bar, everything in the bathroom is in working condition - plumbing and hair dryer. We needed mainly water and beer for my husband, at the very beginning they reminded us a couple of times that they would replenish the mini-bar, then the cleaning lady herself clarified whether they had brought it or not. I'll add a photo of the number. Of the minuses, I can only note small fast-running ants, so they didn’t leave anything on the tables and kept food for the child in the refrigerator. When cleaning, they treat it with an insect spray, the smell remains disgusting if you are lucky enough to get into the room right away. It did not help for long - by the evening the ants were all in place. Cleaning for 5+, every day, regardless of the tip, everything is great. They change towels, wash the floor, clean the bathroom, the bed is made, the mini bar is replenished. A fairy tale!) Because of the child's regimen, they often left a "do not disturb" sign before lunch. But the audibility is terrible, the doors of the rooms slam shut only with a roar, it is not possible to close quietly, conversations are heard, cleaning ladies like to shout to each other from neighboring houses, communicating with each other. This is me about relaxing holiday at lunch! The child was asleep, of course, but it was annoying. Then they already found a calm, windless place on the beach and put them in a stroller for a daytime sleep. At night we went to bed at 21-22, often at 23 we received a phone call from the guest service with questions, the guide or electricians knocked on the door, were we all right (the sign - do not disturb was ignored). And you won’t sleep at lunchtime and there’s no peace at night! And by the end of the month, some kind of summer season began in general - for three days they cut the lawns, blew off the leaves, the transport went to collect garbage. Noise, vanity .. didn’t smell like paradise!
TERRITORY large green, with beautiful green lawns, palm trees, flowers. But everything is spoiled by the constant movement of delivery cars, service vehicles and mopeds, which instead of moving along the main three roads for traffic, cutting off, drive 20 km per hour along the pedestrian zone. You just have time to jump away from them, grabbing the child! EXHAUST SMELL TERRIBLE! Somehow, after the rain, she walked down the street in slates - then she barely washed her feet from black diesel fuel or fuel oil (I don’t understand which of these machines is dripping). The child constantly had to either be carried in a stroller, or held by the hand or pulled. Walking through the territory is not possible! This is a huge minus for the hotel. There are three main roads - trains drive along them (the child called them that), but it turns out that children can safely walk and run on the territory only in the lobby.
For children, a small water park (were there only once, the water is colder than in the sea) kids club (pool with balls, cartoons, games, playground) We came with my daughter if the weather was bad or there was time before dinner). Works until 17:00. I watched the animation in the club: they don’t really watch or play with the children, the children are on their own - they are looking for something to do or watch cartoons, eat popcorn chips. I didn’t understand why children often ran around with wet heads - fans and candey work there, then I saw a kids club near the water park. Russian language animators have just begun to learn. And my daughter liked the playground behind the kids club: slides, houses, swings, wheelchairs, tables and chairs and sand toys. Often came and always had children. It was fun! After leaving, they took their sand toys there. After dinner, dance to incendiary music and run around the Christmas tree in the lobby. This is where children's entertainment on the territory ends (the sea does not count) and we didn’t really need them - our daughter fell asleep after dinner. You can also see ducks and turtles on the way to the sea, they swim in the swamp. We called it that - an abandoned piece of the coastal zone on the territory of the hotel. The smell from it in the heat is not pleasant. A swamp just from which there are a lot of mosquitoes. The fumigator in the room worked 21 days 24 hours a day. Only after a week, when people and children were terribly bitten, they began to work on the territory of the hotel - it became much smaller and it was possible to sleep with the balcony ajar. The air conditioner is very noisy, turned on when we left the room. At night it became terribly humid and stuffy, the child did not sleep well, and you open the window - mosquitoes. Humidity 70%!
The hotel was overcrowded with people, at that moment a real epidemic of orvi began! The whole hotel was sneezing and coughing - adults and children, the staff also met! You open the window in the morning and instead of birds singing and the noise of the wind, someone sneezes or coughs ... everywhere in the restaurant, on the beach, in the lobby, people went sneezing for a week, with red noses from snot, and then a terrible cough appeared! From the beginning, the daughter began to snort, the next day the husband. Temperature 37 for one day and weakness. It didn't feel like acclimatization as we had been there for a week now and the fact that so many people in the hotel got sick was more like a real epidemic. I had symptoms already after the recovery of my daughter and husband, when we were already told about the seasonal SARS, that the local children had been ill and apparently the staff brought it to the hotel. True, my symptoms were only 2-3 days and the people at the hotel were already on the mend, although before our departure, sneezing and coughing vacationers began to meet again, my husband also joked that he would rather go home from this infirmary.
BEACH AND POOL The first 5 days were great, there were not many people, but then just a lot of people settled and the hotel became like an anthill. After breakfast, there is no place to find a place by the pool anymore, everything is hung with towels. At the same time, we had breakfast early at 7-8 o'clock due to the child's regimen. Sunbeds by the pool on the beach as well. Sunbeds by the sea could be found, but because of the strong wind with the child, I wanted to find a place next to the Esmiralda strip of sunbeds - there the wind was less strong and it was comfortable with the child. That is, people get up at 6 am and take sunbeds. Until the last moment, we tried not to resort to such things, but we got tired of running along the beach with a stroller and a child in search of a place. The last 5 days were also busy. There was an opportunity to put the child to sleep on the beach in a stroller and relax by ourselves for a couple of hours. It is quiet there, unlike the noise and din at the pool. The beach is normal, but a sunbed on a sunbed - I'm not happy, there were cigarette butts in the sand, but this is already on the conscience of vacationers. The attendants clean and try to keep it clean, they remove algae, decorate palm trees, water and level the sand, arrange sunbeds. A photo coastline I think the hotel is a total scam. The waves and wind were all 21 days, so my daughter jumped on the waves in her husband's arms, and went for a swim in small paddling pools in the pool near the beach. It often rained during the day and after it the sand was cold and the wind was not very good for children good climate I believe, and besides, 70% humidity. We thought we were unlucky with the weather, but on our return we found out that it was raining in Tenerife and our friends swam one day, and in Egypt it was 7 degrees and snow.
FOOD If I had a rest alone, I would give up on everything ... For food I put not 4, but 3! But here even I was not particularly impressed by the semi-green tomatoes and undercooked raw vegetables (boiled vegetables - carrots, cauliflower, etc., it is impossible to eat) The first week I ate a delicious fish myself, but then it just disappeared and turned into some kind of shapeless mess and awfully salty. But the porridge at breakfast, on the contrary, improved, from the beginning they put cinnamon in it, the children spat and mine also ate without enthusiasm, and then the cinnamon was already standing separately, and the porridge was delicious milk. Saved breakfast cereals with milk and yoghurts, they were very tasty, waffles, pancakes and pancakes with all kinds of jams, scrambled eggs, hard-boiled eggs (I didn’t take fried eggs until black), croissants and muffins overeating. For breakfast and lunch, I could find something for the child. At the very least, lunch was some kind of vegetable puree soup that could be given to a child, the second was on some kind of smelly meat broth. They have a children's menu: terrible sausages, french fries and disgusting hamburger patties for breakfast lunch and dinner. There is no vegetarian table, I already wrote about raw vegetables that cannot be eaten. It was a couple of times delicious eggplant and carrots. A couple of times in 21 days! For dinner, the child ate mostly macaroni and cheese and watermelon for the entire vacation. She loves chicken from me, but she didn’t take it in her mouth there, I tried it myself a couple of times, so-so, with some kind of incomprehensible aftertaste, the grilled chicken was delicious a couple of times. Sausages are generally of terrible quality, delicious stewed meat sometimes served, gave it to my daughter. Undercooked rice, specific, my child doesn’t eat this, a couple of times I came across delicious. C-grade fruits: watermelons are very tasty, pineapple too, the rest are so-so, mango disappeared on the 5th day and was never seen again, bananas if you get up early for the opening tomorrow at 7 o'clock you will be lucky! Juices for breakfast are freshly squeezed, very diluted with water. Dinner mostly ate pasta. Ice cream is delicious, desserts are so-so. The wine is much better than the cocktails throughout the hotel. All cocktails are terrible, if you give money something that is far reminiscent of the truth, they will pour you. Therefore, from alcohol they used wine in a restaurant, beer or bought rum in a room. In a restaurant, you had to constantly pay attention to what you eat and drink from. I made tea for the child in the room or took juice in a thermos for children.
Delicious brewed coffee only in the lobby and two more vending machines in the bars on the beach. At breakfast, the waiters serve coffee that is not tasty, if you go to pour it yourself, then it is even more or less pleasant. but you don’t really run around with a child, so we drank both and sometimes spoiled ourselves with delicious food in the lobby.
A week later, the queues for pasta and fruit began, it generally killed me! In the restaurant itself, the air conditioner is turned on and it’s pretty cool, there are a lot of mosquitoes - they took a sweater for their daughter. By the end of the first week, the restaurant looked like a market, for such a large restaurant it was necessary to make two food zones, not one, because people walk around with plates, dodging each other like obstacles, constantly like ants along the paths between tables one after another and sit in a calm atmosphere there is no possibility. And the attendants are in large volume, and all this resembles some kind of eatery in the market, rather than a restaurant. The rumble, fuss, clatter of dishes - they tried to quickly feed the child, something to eat themselves and leave this place.
The staff is great, quickly cleans the tables and escorts you to a free clean table, depending on how many seats you need - I liked it. Always happy to help if suddenly you need something for the child. Somehow she asked me to pour water into a grated carrot and sprinkle sugar - they looked at me with surprise! They love to slow down for a minute at the children's tablet and look. Well, wait a minute!))) In general, the attitude towards children is excellent, they love children, they are happy to communicate, and by the end of the vacation my daughter greeted everyone and learned a couple of phrases in Spanish. There are plenty of highchairs, always found themselves or brought by the waiters, both in the main restaurant and in the bars on the beach. For lunch, we often ate at bars on the beach, but there is less choice and there are no soups at all. From the hustle and bustle of the general restaurant once managed to escape to the Italian. I advise you to immediately sign up for all possible alacartas upon arrival, since the registration was a week in advance! There was no particular benefit for the child, only tomatoes were sweeter, and so again she had to eat pasta.
SOUVENIRS There are shops on site where you can buy souvenirs, inflatable toys and sand for a child. Everyone bought on site - rum, cigars, magnets, coffee, T-shirts, beach bags. My husband walked along the beach to the local market, but said - everything is cheaper there, of course, but of such quality that it’s not pleasant to give such a gift! On the beach I bought two beautiful shells, a large white-pink one and a screw "tornado" bargained for $20 both. The first price tag was $40! I was told on the island of Saona you can take each for $ 5, but for me it was already a normal price) In the store at the hotel they were of worse quality and for $ 30 for two pieces. I put it in my luggage wrapped in paper and a few packages, on the advice that the clothes in the suitcase would not smell like sweat. It is possible to export. They don't check suitcases, they just weigh them. Only hand luggage is illuminated.
TOTAL despite the fact that there were not so many children on the territory of this hotel, but sooooooo many, I consider it not quite suitable for children's recreation. Although they offer highchairs and even strollers in a large volume, but the lack of a free zone from cars, as well as exhaust gases and dirt, which makes it not very pleasant to walk around the hotel. Also, a terrible children's table and a vegetarian menu for the hotel are all a huge minus! Will not go again and will not recommend to friends. And in general, now after such a trip, I agree with those who write - a long flight, change of time zone, humidity, lack of qualified medical specialists, this is not for relaxing with a child! The Dominican Republic, it seems to me, is good for two, for a cheerful company, for the rest of adult married couples in retirement. But in this hotel heavenly delight you will not experience!

This property would like to inform guests that on December 15, 2019, Las Olas Beach House will open at Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro Resort with 7 restaurants on the beach. Entrance will be available to guests of all 7 resort hotels.

From November 2016, there is a special program of discounts and gifts for honeymooners: a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates, bathrobes and slippers in the room upon arrival, 20% discount for couples massage, late check-out if possible (only in suites), special room decoration, gift upon arrival arrival.

From 11/01/2018, due to the new policy of the hotel, hotel guests will be able to use the territory of the 3 Grand hotels (excluding the main restaurant), but they will not have access to the Luxury hotels and the Luxury Bahia Principe Fantasia hotel.
