Luggage compartment in a double-decker train. How the Russian Railways double-decker train is arranged from the inside

An interesting photo report about a trip on one of the first flights of double-decker trains. We look further at how everything is arranged inside such double-decker train cars and read the comments about such a trip further.

The test drive of the train began on November 2 at 07:50 Moscow time from the first platform of the Kazan station of the capital.

Was I scared? Very scary, because they write such things that sometimes it takes horror.
And I'm not too young for such tests-)

The cars are Russian, and made at the Tver Carriage Works.
I have a ticket on the second floor and, who knew, suddenly, while driving, I will fall somewhere with things ...

Went in and freaked out! My first thought was - I took the wrong train.
For a second it seemed that I was in Europe and on the Paris-Nice route, and not Moscow-Adler.
Since when have such cars been made in Russia?

On the eve of the Olympic Games, the Tver Carriage Works purchased
50 double-deck cars: 38 compartment cars, four SV cars, compartment staff cars and a dining car.
Of these, three trains were formed that will go to Adler with stops in Ryazan,
Voronezh, Rostov, Krasnodar and Sochi.

A ticket in Kupa cost me 3206 rubles. Due to the increase in the number of places
in the carriage, it was possible to reduce the fare in compartment and SV carriages.

And here is the compartment in which I have to drive 25 hours and 19 minutes.
It does not have an overhead luggage rack, but my rather large suitcase successfully fit downstairs.

The compartment has individual electrical outlets.
for charging mobile phone or laptop. Two pieces!

The fare includes: bed linen, provision drinking water
en route, sanitary kits and presses.

The whole train is packed to capacity - there are no empty seats. My naughty neighbor Vova!-)

The car is made according to high European standards using new technologies,
equipment and materials - light, clean, comfortable,

Free sanitary kit

You will be surprised, but dry rations are included in the ticket price.
I had to "risk" my health and test. Survived!
Everything turned out to be edible, although I would replace the chicken pate-)

Set contents: waffles, cracker, jam, drinking water, pate, mayonnaise, mustard,
sanitary-hygienic set (paper napkin, knife, fork, boat, salt, pepper, sugar, toothpick), sandwich.

And here is the first stop.

The train also includes a restaurant car.
On the second floor - a dining room for 48-50 visitors

Downstairs is the kitchen and bar.

Have I tested the restaurant's products for myself?

Of course I tested it. For 350 rubles I ordered a salad business lunch,
first, second, and drink! And most importantly - survived again!

Let's walk on the train

In double compartments (CB) each seat equipped with an LCD display for viewing video programs.

The train has Wi-Fi, but I confess that the speed of it leaves much to be desired.

You are not blind - separate waste collection is carried out in each car!

All cars are equipped with three dry closets, which can be used during stops.
Someone read such statistics. In an ordinary compartment car there are 36 seats and 2 toilets.
It turns out 1 toilet for 18 passengers. There are 64 seats and 3 toilets in a double-decker carriage - 1 toilet for 21 passengers.
Allegedly, the toilets will be 15% busier.

I want to object! With three toilets and a full car, we never had to wait in line for 25 hours.
There was always one free toilet. The author of the statistics did not take into account that the toilets work during parking.

Each car has a video surveillance system, control system, access control
and protection passenger train as well as air conditioning and heating system,
which provides a comfortable microclimate.

Don't forget about the people handicapped.
The train has a special compartment and a wheelchair lift.

Landscapes outside the window.

The view is better from the second floor!

The carriages are equipped with a vibration compensation system,
which will allow passengers not to experience inconvenience when rocking cars.
And the photos when moving are clearer-)

The sea seemed outside the window - we drive up to Sochi

At each station, everyone strives to take a photo with the first double-decker train

Are there any disadvantages? Of course there is, it's the lack of opportunity
regulate the air temperature in a separate compartment
(I met similar in Europe in Siemens cars).

Arrived in Adler. Pay attention to the difference in the height of the cars.

I was met by a dog-)

Very nice train station

We'll have to say goodbye to the train and tell you about the station

The construction of the station in Adler was carried out in the image and likeness of the demanded
worldwide intermodal passenger transport hubs - hubs,
where the passenger can not only make a transfer or leave luggage,
but also get a large range additional services- from the acquisition of fresh press
to hotel service.

The total area of the seven levels of the terminal is almost 30 thousand square meters. m,
throughput exceeds 15 thousand people per hour.

Everything glitters inside

When will such stations be in Moscow?

At the same time, the station can accommodate about 2 thousand passengers.

Per day new terminal can serve 56 pairs of long-distance and suburban trains,
and on top of that, four Aeroexpress trains can depart and arrive from here every hour.

The station building consists of three parts: parking for 555 cars,
the sea and city parts of the building, as well as the concourse connecting them (the square on which several streets converge)

So Yakunin coped with his task on the roads to the Olympics.

Almost everything is here. Air conditioning, video surveillance, bathrooms (really rooms, not a corner to relieve yourself), doors with electronic keys, even compartments for people with disabilities. And there are twice as many seats here - double-decker cars, but it's still the most ordinary train ...

Unusual were second-class carriages. They are not found anywhere except in Russia and the countries that were in the USSR. This is exclusively our invention.

In 1951, the German drawings of the Ammendorf plant, as was customary in the post-war period, end up at the Kalinin Carriage Works. Here, under the leadership of the director of the Kazan Helicopter Plant Lukyanov Ivan Alekseevich, the design of the compartment car is brought up to Soviet standards. Doors are removed, partitions are cut and compacted, adding 18 side places. For 65 years they have been traveling around the country like this ... In 2006, in honor of the inventor reserved seat car, they call one of the Tver boulevards.

It is noteworthy that the first double-decker car in Russia was made at the same Tver Carriage Works in 1905.

The 21st century began in 2013. An unexpected turn - the Tver Carriage Works again begins to produce double-decker cars, which should completely replace the second-class cars.

New cars are not much higher than usual

But you can photograph them in different ways, even from the same angle. Here they are huge and scary.

And then cheerful and swift

Inside you won't even know which floor you're on. This is the first

And this is the second one. Almost no difference, except for the mirror at the end of the corridor

First floor compartment

The second one is pretty much the same.

God, a 220 outlet! Not in the aisle at the reclining chair, not in the closet with the warning “Shavers only”, but in the compartment and already two of them! But why not four then?

Intercar doors open with a button and close automatically

Entrance to the compartment by cards

The most popular search query, starting with the words "What if" will gradually become a thing of the past. Start typing this phrase in Yandex if you don't understand what I mean.

On February 1, this train began to travel between Moscow and St. Petersburg. Departure at 22:50, arrival at 06:47.

Conductor's kitchen. Microwave, coffee machine, thermo pot… I didn’t understand where the cup holders are hidden.

The dining car is decorated with collages. On the one hand, Moscow - the Kremlin, Tsar Cannon, University, on the other - St. Petersburg. They just did not take into account that the sculptures are created in such a way that they are looked at from below. Face to face they look monstrous.

Nothing supernatural. Just a train, as it should be in modern countries. I would even say a budget train. The price is slightly more expensive than the reserved seat and usually cheaper than all other compartment trains in this direction.

The first double-decker cars in Russia were created at the Tver Carriage Works in 1905.
The history of modern Russian double-deck cars began on June 16, 2009. It was then that OJSC Russian railways» approved the terms of reference for the model range of locomotive-hauled double-deck passenger cars - compartment, SV and staff. The project is being implemented by the Tver Carriage Works.

Serial production of double-deck passenger cars began at TVZ in 2011.

On the this moment double-decker carriages run on the following routes:

  1. Moscow - Kazan as part of branded train No. 23/24 - launch date - June 1, 2015.
  2. Moscow - St. Petersburg as part of branded train No. 5/6 - launch date - February 1, 2015.
  3. Moscow - St. Petersburg as part of branded train No. 7/8 - launch date - February 1, 2016
  4. Moscow - Adler as part of branded train No. 103/104 - launch date - October 30, 2013.
  5. Moscow - Voronezh as part of branded train No. 45/46 - launch date - July 31, 2015.
  6. Moscow - Samara as part of the passenger train No. 49/50 - launch date - December 3, 2015.
  7. St. Petersburg - Adler as part of branded train No. 35/36 - launch date - May 28, 2016.
  8. Moscow-Yaroslavl - planned to be launched in 2016.

Characteristics of 2-deck cars

Compartment car: 64 beds (instead of 36).

SV car: 30 seats (instead of 18).

Staff compartment car: 50 seats (instead of 18-24).

Restaurant car: 44-48 people in the dining room.

The carriages consist of 4-seater or 2-seater isolated compartments located on 2 floors.

Each compartment has: a table, places for lying, ladders for climbing to the top place, mirrors, lamps, shelves for small things. The compartments are glazed with double-glazed windows.

The compartments are equipped with 2 sockets for connecting electric shavers, mobile and other devices with a power of not more than 100 watts.

In 2-seater compartments (CB) each seat is equipped with an LCD display for viewing video programs.

Access to the compartment is carried out on the basis of individual magnetic key cards.

All wagons are equipped with:

  • three dry closets that can be used during parking;
  • air conditioning and heating systems, which provides a comfortable microclimate;
  • energy-saving LED lamps;
  • comfortable stairs with handrails;
  • a compartment for people with disabilities and a wheelchair lift (in a staff car);
  • rigid hermetic inter-car crossings;
  • video surveillance system, control system, access control and protection of the passenger train.

Energy is supplied from an electric locomotive, which ensures the environmental friendliness of the train.
The staff car is equipped with satellite communications and navigation equipment (GLONASS).

Advantages of 2-deck cars

  • Reducing the cost of travel in compartment and SV carriages by increasing the number of seats in the carriage.
  • convenient traffic schedule and the shortest travel time for a larger number of passengers;
  • environmental friendliness of operation (cars are created using new technologies, equipment and materials).
  • The composition has become more comfortable for people with disabilities. They have a number of amenities that are not available on conventional trains.
  • Each compartment is equipped with electrical sockets (two per compartment).

Disadvantages of 2-deck cars

  • no luggage rack
  • the height of the ceiling in the compartment of a double-decker car is lower than in a single-decker one, so you won’t even be able to sit down on the top shelf.

double decker train pictures

Hello!

For the first time, Russian Railways launched trains with double-deck cars in 2013. There was only one goal - to replace the "reserved seat" with such cars, while the price in such cars should be comparable to the cost of a ticket in the "reserved seat". But promises remained promises. Moreover, Russian Railways has no competition - they said "there will be double-decker trains!" it means they will. And pay for the tickets "there will be as many as we say!".

I immediately apologize for the small number of photos in the train review - I rode it in September 2015 and at that time did not know that I would write a review on irecommend. But if fate turns out so that I will go again - I will update this review.

The Moscow-Adler train consists of 13 cars. According to the RZD website - there is also a wagon for transportation private cars ! (I have not used this service - but I know that Russian Railways has recently introduced it). All wagons are double decker. 1 car - "SV", the rest - compartments. The train departs and arrives at Kazan Station Moscow almost every day (look in advance - for some reason, sometimes the train does not run on certain days).

Curiously, the site tutu there is a "people's" rating of trains, compiled on the basis of passenger reviews. So this train takes 5th place in the TOP 10!

Advantages:

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING- it with speed train!

Total 1 day from Moscow - and you are at sea! This speed is achieved due to the fact that the train follows almost without stops, and where there are stops, parking is minimal. (For comparison, a fast train on this route travels 12-14 hours longer!).

By the way, only Muscovites have the opportunity to get to the sea so quickly. Petersburgers will go 2 days!(Although from St. Petersburg to Moscow can be reached in 4 hours). But Russian Railways for some reason does not think to launch high-speed train Petersburg - Adler. Although I think it would be very popular!

Dry closets.

In principle, now they are in all new trains. It's definitely great! Now there is no such idiocy as a "sanitary zone". This was especially true on this route - the sanitary zone for ordinary trains stretches from Tuapse before Adler where the train goes for several hours! To endure this time without a toilet is unrealistic even for an adult, let alone small children.

The shelves got longer.

Unlike the old wagons in modern wagons the shelves began to be made longer - the average height of a person became higher. (At the same time, the corridor in the car became narrow).

Disadvantages:

✔ NO Luggage Space!

In order to have a 2nd floor in the car, it is necessary to give up something - after all, the height of the car cannot be more than the distance from the rails to contact network. Naturally, the designers "removed" the upper luggage racks above the compartment doors. See -

In addition, the height from the floor to the bottom shelf was reduced.

As a result, if a passenger travels alone on the top shelf, he simply has nowhere to put his luggage! Yes, even if there is free space below, it’s not a fact that a suitcase can be “crammed” under the bottom shelf.

Advice: If you plan to travel on this train, pay attention to your suitcase. If it is large - do not be too lazy to measure it and compare it with the height from the floor to the bottom shelf.

If you are traveling with your family - then as a rule there are a lot of things to the south - they will not physically fit into such a compartment! Especially baby strollers or something similar even when folded.

Low ceiling above the top shelf.

Due to this "two-story" ceiling above the upper shelf is not straight, but has a bevel towards the window. As a result, if you sleep with your head to the window, you can hit the ceiling painfully, rising sharply. (I hit a couple of times for sure).

New neighbors.

Beyond the passengers in neighboring compartments right left- now there are neighbors top/bottom. Of course, usually people on such trains travel adequately, but if you come across a noisy company, it will not seem enough. We were traveling on the second floor and sometimes heard noise from the neighbors from the 1st floor.

✔ 3 toilets for 64 seats.

In the car on each floor instead of 9 compartments - 8 . If the car is completely filled, then it will be 64 people. At the end of the wagon 3 dry closet. It is easy to calculate that the average is 21 people per 1 toilet. For comparison, in a classic compartment - 18. That is, there is a risk of waiting in line for the toilet. Especially in the morning before arrival, when everyone goes to brush their teeth or change clothes. As an advantage, it can be noted that in the corridor there is an electronic scoreboard that indicates the presence of free toilets.

✔ Parking at Sochi station - 5 minutes! At Lazarevskoye station - 4 minutes!!!

Well, how is it? The train is specially designed for a trip to Sochi! It's okay to get out there in 5 minutes. But how to enter? We just drove from Sochi. There were probably 80% of the passengers on this train on the Sochi platform! Moreover, 64 passengers should enter one car door (in total), and not 54 as in the reserved seat. As soon as the train pulled up, running around and stampede began - people tried to run to their car with all their luggage. The good thing is that the conductors were understanding - they simply did not check the tickets - and people got into the car on parole.

At the station Lazarevskoe also a lot of people sat down. There were also people running around.

Advice: If you are planning a trip on this train back to Moscow, I recommend buying a ticket from Adler and landing there.

✔ No stops at many stations in the city of Sochi.

Sochi is a very elongated city and it begins literally right after Tuapse. Before (I remember in 2001) trains long distance made stops at such stations as Loo, Dagomys, Matsesta, Shepsi and others. Now they can only be reached by train. As a result, electric trains in Sochi are overcrowded not only with vacationers, but also with passengers with luggage who go to the nearest station or from the station. I don’t understand why everything is done this way inconveniently.

Additional services:

✔ Nutrition

Feed 1 time per day. For the price that is set for food, I think the rations are rather meager. From the hot, I remember a small piece of cottage cheese casserole. There was also some sausage, a couple of buns and a tiny bottle of still water.

✔ Pay attention to seat numbers.

I don’t understand the logic of Russian Railways, but instead of the usual numbering, there are no places from 33 to 80 in the car. But the rule that even places are always the top shelves is valid. Here is the diagram of the car -

Price.

Russian Railways positioned double-deck cars as an alternative to the reserved seat in terms of price. But it turned out to be a lie! The price of a ticket is comparable to a compartment car. With such shortcomings, it is more profitable to buy a ticket to a regular compartment on another train.

Car of the double-decker train Adler - Moscow

The distance from Adler to Moscow is about 1700 km. Signature train follows the route for about 24 hours, with children it is quite acceptable. Almost wherever possible, we travel by train. We do not fly by plane unnecessarily for various reasons. Unfortunately, the train is not always cheaper. And there is no desire to get to the sea by car after you ask the question “How many km to Adler?”. Although for the sophisticated there is an option - by train with a car. AT agon car carrier rzhd just runs in the direction of Moscow - Adler - Moscow. Transportation of a car by train in one direction costs from 9,000 rubles, depending on the number of passengers, type of carriage and class of car. It is probably more interesting to rent a car on the spot, arriving at the Adler railway station or Adler airport, which is located 3 kilometers from the railway station.

So, departure from Moscow at about 10 am, arrival in Adler the next morning at the same time on the Adler central railway, ideal. There are no long stops, at most 24 minutes in Hot key after Krasnodar and 15 minutes each 2 stations Rostov and Rostov Glavny. Saving time, but I wanted to breathe air in a day. The train itself is brand new, everything works and it is comfortable to travel on it, it was especially interesting for the children to walk on the train, climb to the second floor. It was possible to buy tickets to Adler on the first floor, and back to Moscow on the second.

On which floor of a double-decker train is it better to go?

The difference between the first and second floor is the location of the windows. On the first floor of the train, the windows are located at a height convenient for the passenger, you, like in an ordinary single-story train, can look out the window at full height, but when the train is parked at the platform up to the train door, it turns out to be slightly lower than the lower edge of the window, you look at the people passing through platform of people from below. On the second floor, the windows are understated, you have to bend slightly to look out the window while standing. Sitting in a compartment, this does not bother you, but on the second shelf you will not stare out the window. In addition, a staircase leads up to the second floor, with suitcases and strollers it can be inconvenient. There are a couple of stairs down to the first floor from the corridor, here it is easier with luggage.

Toilets are located at the end of the car on the ground floor, there are 3 of them. There are also garbage cans, garbage collection is separate, this is good news. We sort the garbage, the eldest son was taught this, he also adheres to it, every time we try to praise him for it.

Adler - Moscow ticket price

You can find out exactly how much tickets to Adler cost only on the day of purchase, since the “dynamic pricing program of Russian Railways” is in effect. What is it and how does it work? The ticket price is formed based on the season, day of the week and the load of the car. The higher the demand for tickets and the smaller the number of remaining seats, the higher the price of tickets. CB cars participate in the program, compartments and seating cars some trains. Looks like an auction? Write in the comments.

In short, based on experience, it works very unpredictably. We monitored the availability of tickets Adler - Moscow (their number) and the price even before the sale opened. Their value fluctuated from day to day, then becoming more expensive, then becoming cheaper. It's hard to catch this thread as there are fewer tickets every day. It would be correct, even before the start of ticket sales, to monitor their price for dates that are already available for sale. A week, a month to understand and try to predict the trend and the acceptable price to which they can fall. If this is one ticket for one passenger, it may not make sense. Our family of 4 passengers - 2 adults + 2 children. We bought a whole compartment to Adler for 16600 rubles. Back to Moscow 15000 rub. These were relatively cheap train tickets to Adler in the summer for August-September. Of course, you need to take into account the seasonality of this direction, since in summer vacationers go to the sea with their children, and in winter, especially at peak new year holidays, excitement among those who go to snowboard and skiing to Krasnaya Polyana.

Please note that meals are included in the ticket price. Initially, when landing in the compartment, boxes with rations were already laid out. Composition from memory: bread bun, butter, sausage, 0.25 l bottle of water, waffles, I don’t remember what else. And they also brought hot, to choose from, chicken with mashed potatoes for dinner or cottage cheese casserole for breakfast.

A little hack.

If you are traveling with children, then you should pay attention that the lower seats are more expensive than the upper ones, and when buying tickets online on the Russian Railways website, if you take both the upper and lower seats, you should assign the child a more expensive lower seat, in order to pay less, taking into account the discount on the children's ticket. If the seats were assigned the other way around, then go back when issuing a ticket, go back one step and swap the places of an adult and a child. I could be wrong, but it seems that when placing 4 passengers in one order: Passenger 1 - bottom seat; passenger 2 - top seat; passenger 3 - lower seat; passenger 4 - top seat. Note.

In the territory Krasnodar Territory, the train goes through Tuapse, Lazarevskoye, Sochi, Khosta, with stops in these resorts. This is not the first trip on a double-decker train, before that we recently arrived from Kazan from the World Aquatics Championship on exactly the same.
